"Richie Towell is not in fit enough shape for first team football".
Hughton: Dick Towell doing alright.

I could be wrong but I think Paul may have been reading between the lines in relation to Hughton's quotes. The fact that he said the summer will be vital for Towell to get himself "fully ready for what he needs to play at this level". This may or may not have been regarding his fitness levels but question Paul's sixth sense at your peril. :)
I fully expect Towell to be unfit at some time in the future
Towell may have issues adapting to life/football in England but fitness certainly won't be one of them
Towell must be hoping Brighton don't get promoted, if it'll take him the summer period to adapt to the standard of the Championship, that is?!
You know he has a brother named Beach?
I was quoting myself.
That's exactly it.I love how dodge comes in with one liners like as a matter of fact, unquestionable scientifically proven facts at that.
Hughton has clearly indicated that he isn't at the required level just yet. He seemed to have given him more opportunities initially so that would suggest to me he thought so initially but he was wrong.
He is hardly going to become a far better footballer in 6 months if anyone would question the "ready" bit.
That's hilarious - will you be talking about yourself in the 3rd person soon?
Unlike your post, it was pretty clear that he was stating his own opinion (no doubt he has also seen Towell play over the last few years - have you?)
Towell was, by far, the fittest footballer in Ireland. Plenty of other Irish footballers have made the jump to English football and not struggled for fitness.
So I think it's fair to assume that Towell is absolutely fit enough to play at the level he's at.
Whether he's "ready" or not is a different issue and one no one here can answer.
Not even on the bench today.
I'd imagine it must be very difficult for Towell to settle in there. He's left an awful lot behind at home, but most importantly, his partner and newborn child who are still there as far as I'm aware. It'll not only be a difficult adjustment in terms of team and level, but also must be very mentally draining for him.
It'll probably take a few months for him to make it there.
My worry is that I'm not sure Chris Hughton is the right manager for him.
No one has a gun to his head, Nigel. Life is hard sometimes as you always say a man has to do what a man has to do. Put the off field stuff aside and dig in.
Its not THAT far away. Our own POSH left his family and friends many years ago to find work in London. He arrived with about 200 pound, his marble collection, his Buffy The Vampire Slayer VHS collection, a 4 leaf clover, and a lucky brass farthen in his pocket. He was called names and mocked for his accent. They treated their dogs better than him. This is before skype and facetime too. And he made it work. He never complained. But I guess I shouldn't compare Towell to POSH. And what about SkStu? He lives amongst ice caverns and cottage cheese topped french fries along side kind folk but lets be honest, its a 6 hour drive to the nearest filling station and he doesnt even understand the concept of a power play. Last year more sheep than people in his tiny Canadian hamlet voted. But now he's a citizen and mulling a run for town budget director.
Interview in The Irish Post the other day.
On the bench this evening.
on the bench again this evening for Brighton against Forest, Brighton won 2-1 with two other substitutes (Knockaert and Sidwell) combining for the late winner
Does anybody know enough about Brighton's normal squad to know if he's worked his way in or benefited from injuries or suspensions?
not even on the bench for Brighton tonight against Fulham, Brighton won 5-0
He probably would have got a run out if he was on the bench this time, due to the lead they carried. Pity.
Richie Towell 'I don't want to be a sub, I don't think any footballer will accept that': http://www.the42.ie/richie-towell-br...76043-Jul2016/
I was just reading that post and I don't know why I didn't thank it at the time.
Quality post and SkStu's response made me laugh too!
I definitely thanked it at the time. I presume all the thanked info. disappears from underneath the post when banned or something.
Cos you only like thanking certain posters, Stutts and Skstu and SVD, and when rivalries are put aside, even CD.
Injuries and suspensions. His limited appearances didn't show much reason he couldn't be a solid squad rotation player, though.
Some prediction that due to Dale Stephens still having one game left of a league suspension from last year he *could* start the season on the team sheet and Stephens would have to win his place back.
Thanks Kian, better late than never ;)
You're very transparent BS
