good job Alan,fairly mundane type game really ,limerick never had to change gear and deserved the win,agree on the style very direct,kilkenny might have got more out of it had they availed of a few gilt edged chances and they lacked a couple of real quality players imo.

At one point in the second half, poor old Craig Madigan dropped off to collect the ball from his defence, only to be chastised for not getting up there for the second ball. Probably depressing for a footballer like him, but it's a measure of how good he is that he was still one of the game's most effective players while employing a style that's probably completely anathema to him.
Still, as you say, Kilkenny were very poor. Such was the gulf in quality, that the footballing philosophy didn't matter one bit really. Limerick likely would have won regardless of what they were trying to do.
It's when you don't have players that are that much better than their opposition that decision-making from the sideline really matters. As observers of lower-league Limerick DL football this season will tell you.
Agree with most of above, I tought Limerick played the conditions better in what looked like a cabbage patch of a pitch. Some of the one touch play early in the game by Clarke, Tierney and Gorman was excellent. Good stuff Alan.

Interesting draw. Dublin AUL with a possible home semi final look to be big favourites.
Limerick beat Wexford 2-0 in the semi-final. Wexford had a player sent off early in the second half.
lads any one know why the final is on in Donegal, I thought all fai finals are played in dublin

Funny then, that some men, who bafflingly command a massive cult of personality around themselves, only have the positive results recognised and benefit from having the negative ones ignored. I would again encourage you to examine the lower-league tables at the conclusion of this season. Specifically 1A. How did the sides who were relegated from the Premier last season get on this year? Or are we allowed to talk about that?
I suppose any LDMC talk should be in one of the Limerick threads really.
As for the players showing up this year but not last year. This year they have some respect for the manager, last year I don't think you could say the same...
It is a tough position, Aidan ryan made a great go of it and was very professional, last year was a disaster but the managers that are there now are only short term I would like to see Aidan ryan come back he deserves another chance.Quote:

A very good junior scene in Inishowen. Most of the clubs have top class facilities and it's a much stronger football area than GAA in most parts. As far as a squad of junior internationals, it's long been a complaint of football clubs up here that none of the junior teams get a look in when it comes to picking an international squad. The only time they get watched is when the Oscar Traynor team or junior sides go into national competition. Only five Inishowen sides entered the FAI Junior cup this season, two of them from outside the Premier Division, and one of them relegated from the Premier Division. It's just of no interest to them seeing as how badly the area is ignored nationally. Couple of the sides in the Inishowen League I'd have put money on to get to quarter, if not semi-final of FAI Junior Cup were they to enter.

Well did not want you to interpet my comments as a slight on the new oscar traynor champions as it was obviously a deserved victory,it was more a reflection of whats going on down here,Limericks manager being held up as some sort of football god on the back of an fai junior cup win a few years ago,yet recent reality is almost managing a previously ,relegated premier side,to another relegation and now a final defeat which to most people down here should not be acceptable given the talent at his disposal.its a pity your better teams do not give the Fai a go given what you have said.Quote:

Good point.He has publicly slaughtered most of if not all prem managers this season with his comments on selections/subs/formations etc.Very easy to do that from a keyboard.Also heard OT team should have won by 2 or 3.But the Managers were rubbish so it didnt matter.And as for DC back to Pike thats not happening as apparently there is a new man gone in.POD also to Fairview.Will he bring back all the Dines players to View.Probably i'd say.Dines could be in trouble.Quote:
