The website looks very good also. Lets hope they keep the cup competitions upto date also. The last website had cup competitions from few years back and not update.
In fairness, sometimes having a back log of fixtures can be a bad thing, they didn't exactly stay up with ease last season, plus if any club gets a run in the Munster junior or FAI, those fixtures take precedent sure NCW had a share of back fixtures also & Broadford will be in the same situation with the Munster Senior & that Champions cup this season!
I think the reason for the postponement of both games is one of the Abbey players is getting married over the weekend & the game has been booked off since last season by all accounts.
The new website looks good now alright, fair play to whoever is running it, hopefully it is updated now!
Here's to a deadly Desmond League Season!!
The website is hugely improved on its predecessor! I'm sure if you've gone to the effort of getting it made it will be used, fingers crossed.
Yes cup runs complicate things alright but no team should be able to get into a situation where they are more than 2 games behind anyone else in their division - Everyone plays or nobody plays, the teams that go 3, 4 or 5 games ahead only end up having 2 or 3 weeks between games at the end anyway, I dont see how an even spread cant be maintained even if it means only 2 games get played in a division on a weekend in October when conditions are good to catch teams up - the men that make the fixtures will probably disagree and say that games have to be played when they can and as ever Irish weather cannot be counted on from mid November so it is very much a juggling act
Ah sure here we go again, Abbeyfeale missing games already, to be fair its quiet unfair on teams in the same league as the way the league goes teams play their season spread out and this has teams putting in inconsistant performances as they don't exactly have a run of games to keep a bit of form going. You would have then the GAA and other sports breaking up between games so you are switching between sports. Like then for Abbeyfeale when it comes to the end of the season they have 6-7 matches in a row which makes it easier to get into form and play a better standard of football as you are playing soccer constantly and its not being broken up. for me I think it offers an unfair advantage to them
kildimo 1 Prospect 4....Kildimo certainly have a lot of work of work to do from what I saw, fitness levels extremely poor. apparently they were missing some of their better players through work/J1s but not good signs ahead of the new season. Pallaskenry have been training hard for the past few weeks but I would have them as a team who could go down this year. Looking forward to a good season
Any bookies do prices for the local leagues?
Also the new website says there is only one Friday night game at the start of the season and it's not next week it's the 29th. Thought they were playing 2?
Collins' in Askeaton used to price up the soccer anyway - not sure if still the case
Wheres the new website, cant seem to find it. Old address still comes up as suspended and its not in google search.
twotouch posted it with the fixtures for next weekend other than that I'd say we'd all still be in the dark with it
http://ldfl.leaguerepublic.com/
That clears that up nicely. Thanks lads
Its.going to be tight this year to win the premier division. All teams have signed good players this year. Shannonside signed daniel power, anthony o donnell and tony quaid from newcastle west.
Newcastle rovers signing darragh woods from killeaney.seoirse joyce ,adam collins , peter shanahan and the kinahan and woods guys from newcastle also.
Broadford have signed scott hurley from newcastle west
Rathkeale have signed peter nash and declan nash from the district league and michael quilligan from newcastle west
Any Others signings going through??
i dont Know if they are 100% certain though
Saw Pallaskenry beat creeves 4-1 Tuesday night.saw kildimo beat ballysteen 5-2 last night.i cant understand why people would think Pallaskenry would go down this year.but saying that division 1 looks very tough this year.i cant see kildimo doing as well this year as they did last year
Carew park 3 Rathkeale 0
Just watched breska beat kildimo 2-0 .breska will surely get promoted this year
Who have Pallaskenry signed that makes you think they are so good this year Old Man?
Premier League: Rathkeale. Dark horses: NCW Rvrs
Division 1: St Itas. Dark Horses: Abbeyfeale B (Tough division to call)
Division 2: Askeaton. Dark Horses: Shountrade
Division 3: I honestly have no idea what any team is like
Desmond Cup: Broadford. Dark horses: Askeaton
Just a couple of predictions. Mainly based on what I have heard of how teams are going. Rathkeale seem to have made some very good signings. Askeaton apparently have the same team back together that got them to Premier a few years ago, depending on the draw they could put a dent in Desmond Cup if things dont fall apart for them again
[QUOTE=nathanbrown;1772252]Who have Pallaskenry signed that makes you think they are so good this year Old Manl?[/QUOTE
I dont know who they signed. They look a different team then last year.
Breska seem to start well but always seem to lose a few to hurling - that division looks hot enough - you'll need to be playing out to the end with your strongest team
Askeaton have new management alright and a huge squad of players signed (I'm sure they've a B team now as well) - They could be anything
Pallaskenry have got at least a couple lads down from Kildimo but there has been a lot of activity down there from what I've heard
1st few weeks will be interesting - hard to get a feeling from friendlies
Whats yer story Langerdan? Who is over ye this year and how are ye fixed?
Only saw ye once last year and ye seemed to have lost a lot of players. Did ye get anyone back?
We've got a couple young lads in this year - lost 3 lads back to the Askeaton revolution :)
We've seen a good lot roll up at other clubs alright the last few years, seems to just be the way it goes these days fellas nearly move twice a year! All you can do is drive on with the fellas who want to be playing here.
We have Blaine Collins back from Oz - still trying to tempt a few lads back into the fold but we've a squad to start the season and try to build from at least - see how the first few weeks pan out - Management has changed from last year, couple of the club stalwarts have picked up the reins, more of a committee than a manager!!
Jaysus that doesnt sound promising. Are ye even training or do ye just turn up and kick about on the astroturf, considering there is no manager.
Collins is a good man to have back, got ye a bag of goals a couple of years ago. Assuming he didnt come back from Australia fat.
I take it the prediction from the Observer that ye will win the league is not an accurate one then
Its fair to say my opinion on the man that makes the predictions is probably not for printing!
We've been training alright and had a pre season with Askeaton on Wednesday which went well - I'm told, I wasn't there - but I've literally no idea how that man comes to his conclusions - I suspect nor does he!!!!
Haha - Collins is looking alright - Oz sent him back in one piece
The management thing might not be ideal but there was attempts to get someone, we might have to start accepting C.V. from football manager!!
Can't wait for the league to kick off tomorrow, Broadford and Rathkeale the obvious main contenders but I think now that Shannonside have got rid of their manager from last season who caused them more harm then good and if the transfers Fanaticfan quoted are done deals surely will be in with a shout along with NCW Rovers who also seem to have made good signings, surely these four teams will be up their at the top. If teams like Ballingarry and Athea made good signings to add to their teams last year there is no reason why they can't challenge
Some scores iv heard. Dont know if they are full time or what.
Broadford 2-0 Athea
Newcastle 1-2 shannonside
Carrig 3-3 killeaney
Rathkeale 1-0 ballingarry
Saw Rathkeale v Ballingarry this morning..
Mikey Lyons the stand out player for Rathkeale.
Ballingarry have a number of players who look overweight and unfit.
Absolutely no pace in the team.
Surely Rathkeale have a better keeper than who was in goals this morning?
Pitch looked well.
Thought referee did a decent job aswell.
Game lacked quality overall.
Saw Pallaskenry play kildimo 2-2. Kildimo scored in the last minute of the game.
Hey lads, figured this might be a better place to ask than the Limerick FC forum. I was looking to get access to Jackman Park one of the days just to take a few photos. Does anyone have a contact email for those in charge of the League, or the stadium so I could ask them about it?
NCW 1 shannonside 2
Heard NCW had a very young team out. Not 1 player from last years starting 11. Must be a 1st in desmond league.
Rathkeale 1 ballingarry. 0 interesting report above

First Monday morning of the season - Website updated as well - hopefully a sign of things to come
oldman interested to hear about the Pallas-Kildimo game - talking to one of the Kildimo lads and he was saying that Pallas didn't seem to have too many new fellas??
Any reports from Division 2? Askeaton lost to Adare and Shountrade beaten by Breska - Division 2 could be tight as fook!
Saw the Ballingarry and Rathkeale game, was talking to someone at the game who said both teams were missing a lot of players, which reflected on the quality of the game. Interesting to see how NCW get on this year with what seems to be a young squad. Also Broadford vs NCW Rovers this weekend will be a very interesting game in my opinion
Oh rite sports fanatic , I thought ratkeale had almost signed a new starting 11, what was there line up? Some v interesting games already this winks an nxt fri, da pick of dem being brdf v rovers and ratkeale v sh side..
Johnny Mooney, Mikey Morrissey, Darren Jones, Alan O Shea, (don't know) Davey Lyons, Thomas Quilligan, Mikey Lyons, (don't know) Stephen Power and Barry Riordan. So basically that seems like the same team as last year with even a few missing, either all their new signings were not available or they have no new signings,
Alan o Shea and Thomas Quilligan wer suspended they weren't playin. Damien Quaid,Sean o Shea & mike Quilligan wer playin though. I asked tony fitzmorris who ref'd the game
