Dundalk v Wexford Youths tonight 28/01/14 at 7:45pm
Dundalk 2 - 0 Wexford Youths FT
Athlone Town away to Drogheda Town this Sunday at 12 noon.
Derry 2-3 Institute
Cork City away to Mervue Saturday!
What Mervue team will that be,theyve a junior team in the Galway Junior Premier Division?
Not sure... Without knowing the ins and outs of it, I assume the only reason that we're not playing Galway is that when our pre-season schedule was being put together they couldn't commit to dates as they were only assembling a squad at that stage.
We're also due to play Harps in Galway on Sunday.
At any rate, with this weather we'll be lucky to get to play the game.
Harps are playing a non-league Galway side on Saturday too before playing Cork in Drom on Sunday.
Drogheda Utd v Waterford Utd Fri 31/01 7:45pm
0-6 at half time.
FT: Drogs win 6-2.
We're going to win the league.
Who got the goals, drogs must have switched off a ht or was it Waterford showed up.
Don't think you could blame not having a shot on target in the second half on the changes tbh, give us some credit for the second half ;) Drogs looked very sharp first half tho, O'Neill and Fabio especially, and our goals weren't bad :) Far too many mistakes from us in the first half, more solid second half. Horrid wind didnt help either teams too!
Wouldn't read much into any preseason games. Drogs p*ssed their way through the early stages of the setanta cup last year, as did we.
The real test comes in March.
Galway - Sligo Rovers
Eamonn Deacy Park unplayable, pointlessly moved to Mervue Fahy's Field astro 7.30pm. No charge for entry.
Looks like there'll be a few games on that astro this weekend...
Quote:
There have been changes to the kick-off times and venues for Cork City’s two friendly fixtures this weekend, due to the inclement weather.
The fixture against Mervue United this afternoon will now kick off at 5:30 pm instead of 4:30, and will take place on the astro turf pitch at Fahy’s Field.
Sunday’s fixture against Finn Harps will also take place on the astro turf pitch at Fahy’s Field, and will now kick off at 1.45 pm.
Why do Extratime.ie bother with a page of 'live updates' but not a single update on any ?
Cork City 6-1 Mervue Utd.
We fielded a fairly experimental lineup, lots of changes at half time.
Goals came from Elding (2), O'Sullivan, Buckley, Lehane, Tnonis.
Galway 5-2 Sligo at the moment
Ended 5-3 to Galway FC
The result doesn't bother me at this stage of the season, but the decision to use some of our U-19s creates genuine worries about our depth. None of them are near good enough to be considered for a Premier Division top-half side.
Harps 0-0 Westport United. Also on Fahy's Field astro pitch.
Drogheda UTD 0 v 2 Wexford Youths FT
Please accept my apologies for not recognising the overwhelming significance of that result. Put it on the DVD.
Is cork playing against finn today?
Ah sure Harps tore us to shreds last pre-season......
Its a pre season friendly the result is quite meaningless to a team like Sligo.
If the result was meaningless to Sligo, then why use it as an argument that the U-19s are not good enough? And the DVD jibe is a bit lame, applied to a different club that no longer exists.
Harps 3-2 up on Cork in Galway.
This is going to be a bigger result than sligo last year.
