Bit of a weird goal to look at, looks like he hits it with his other foot.
That was his first goal after a barren run of 6 game if my data is correct.
Only 3 minutes of normal time remain.
Yeah, he was saying in the interview linked above that he's due a goal today. Can't argue with that. 6 minutes added on but Yeovil look fairly comfortable even though they're being pinned back.
Rather amusing on the commentary I was watching (Sky Sport 2), the commentator seemed to think there were 5 minutes of extra time when in fact there were 6, hence his commentary was all wrong, ie
he is excitedly saying "moments away from victory" as the clocked ticked to 95 minutes but of course there was a full minute left, very Alan Partridge.

Goal in good quality here, really is a top class finish, it's a bit like the Liam Brady one.

Saw the whole game. Great finish but otherwise didn't contribute much except a great work rate. From what I have seen of him he is one of these forwards who has a great eye for goal but isn't seen much otherwise. Best of luck to him in the Championship except when he visits a run down city in South Yorkshire.

It was a a good strike, but hardly 'Goal of the week' material.
But fair play to those Sky clowns if they didn't include the EPL/SPL and the major European leagues.
There were better goals on the last day of the Bundesliga for instance.

pretty sure youre thinking of Charlie Darwin, the guy who discovered Madden if reports are to be believed.......

Didn't see the other goals but it was a worth winner IMO I expect it had more skill and quick thinking involved in it.
Curling a ball with the outside of the foot like this is never easy he got it to curl and dip from almost

Having said that as it is an English speaking site surely there is some bias in the voting?
May be a good time to speculate - if Paddy Madden continues to score reasonably regularly, at least, in the Championship next season, at what point does he merit a call-up to the national squad? In the spring friendly against Serbia? Should he possibly be given a run-out against Wales this August based on his prolific form, or should that game be used solely as a tune-up for the current squad in preparation for the autumn World Cup games, with no real experimentation?
If Sammon becomes a starter on the back of nothing, then a regularly scoring Championship striker Paddy Madden can expect to be ignored for two years and/or when he stops scoring... ;)
Well, if he has anything like the impact he has been having of late, he will have earned it if it comes. Not saying he isn't good enough as I haven't seen enough of him but Yeovil will surely be on the back foot in most games with chances at a premium for him. The step up from L1 into Championship is a chasm I reckon, you will have decent sides in L1 but you begin to encounter big clubs in the Championship, with big followings compared to the few thousand more often found in L1, and big resources. Clubs who not only believe their rightful place is in the Premier, but who have been capable of European qualification when last there. Bolton, Birmingham, Leicester, Middlesbrough and Wigan all having made it to Europe fairly recently.Quote:

Good that Madden is going to a higher division with his own club, rather than being poached by one of the bigger boys. Less pressure and so better opportunity to settle in at Championship level. Even 10 or 12 goals next season would be a grand return, given that he is still a young player.

I meant more the resources/budgets of those clubs due to those bigger followings, and that the club he is with will most likely be fighting a battle to stay in games rather than winning most weeks, so he will maybe have less sights of goal each Saturday. Looks like Madden might be called into the Wales squad now that McGeady has pulled out.
Good I hope he is called up and gets a run out, but knowing Trap he would probably not even put him on just to get a cap.
