Good to see Dermot back in the view hot seat,,,
i thought dermot would have went back to park/shannon hibs now that they are back in the big time :D
Great to see dermot back...... The good times will be back for them but it'll take a year or 2... To answer your question Fairkop only 1 applied for the job offically... 2 others were asked with 1 asked several times, .... they made a good appointment with finnan........Some people at over 40's today not so happy, but to all the begrudgers, we will be back. Som
Dermot Finnin doesn't manage without €€€€,everyone knows that but so what he's dead right, just curious when was last time fairview won a league,I'd say Finnin was in charge not sure though, hadn't he a stint with janesboro as well, for nothing as well of course and Park for nothing and was he in Tipp as well??
it's finnan, and yes he was the last person to win a league as far as i know.
he did manage in those places(peake villa in tipp).
as far as your comment about money, every manager is entitled to expenses to cover phone bills travel etc. and that's what he will get.
but to say that he came back to fairview for the money shows that you know nothing about the man or the club
if you read the post above you would understand.
fairview approached a few people(dermot included) to see if they would be interested in the job.
they also had advertised it,with some other people applying through that channel.
of the few people who were approached(all highly respected soccer people),they declined for various reasons.
the committee then, after interviewing several candidates, appointed dermot to the position.
so to say that he was third choice is incorrect.
hope this now puts the matter to bed once and for all
Where did I say he went back for money???what I said was he doesn't manage for nothing to which he is quiet right because it can be very expensive, and I know Dermot a lot more than you think, and good luck to him, you're always on the defensive for some reason or other and apparently you have nothing at all got to do with fairview,so stop talking balderdash for a change.
weldone to Fairview on their first bit of silverware, winning the over 40's, may it be the first of many for this season.
Dermot was a fantastic manager and its great to see him back involved with the club but i can't help feeling its in the wrong capacity. He should be there is some kind of committee role in my opinion. The game has progressed an awful lot since he last managed and his knowledge of young talent around Limerick must surely be questionable. Also worth noting that he inherited more or less the best team in town in his first stint from Gerry Flynn and that's not knocking his unmatched achievements but this time he inherits a team miles behind the 2 best teams in town. Hopefully he comes in and does an outstanding job but the sceptic in me thinks different.
Lads, Dermot finnan is the manager...lets move on... best of luck to Dermot in tenure....
Well said leather.
Be very surprised if Ray took the Fairview job, that's if he was even approached in the 1st place.Good luck to Dermot, has a bit of work to do though to have view back challenging for honours,
Very suprised Dermot took the job knowing he was third choice, i think if the club wanted him he would have been asked first not third, up to last thursday the job was o donnells if he wanted it best of luck to him and the new committee in Fairview.
Heard Brian O'Doherty new Granville manager, surprised he moved on from Star.
Ex-Granville player also no?
heard that ryan was heading to St Michaels myself.......capped a year ago so would be a good addition to someone......how did he go with fairview this past year? Mcgrath lad didnt play much with fairview did he................would them lads sign for other teams in town possibly???
He has joined Granville as John O'Neills assistant afaik, and will be a good addition to them, he will be a big loss to Star on and off the field and you are correct in saying he also played for Balla (think he was with Balla when they last won the league if memory serves me right, when they beat Pike 0-2 up in the Pike field with 2 Jamie O'Sullivan goals)
Well lads, I know it's completely off topic but seeing this is the forum with a lot of Fairview interest I was just wondering....
Reading the Times from Australia and there's an article about the bomb squad being called out to the Ballysimon area yesterday. It has a map that is set onto the Fairgreen. I assume the devices were found in the waste land beside the car park and didn't cause any damage to the facilities?
Again, off topic I know, but was just wondering could anyone shed some light on it!
Think that was the year they won the league without losing a game,,,
Nah that was the year before 2003/2004, we retained it up in the Pike
Martin Sugrue new manager of Boro B....only a matter of time before he's managing the premier side
