Would you support Spain against Ireland if there was a manager or a captain or a few players that ou disliked? It's the same story, you're basically supporting Spain against Ireland, your country, your people, your team. You're a small-minded, parochial idiot. I'll support Cork or Bohs or even Rovers to the World Club Cup final, and then still scream my head off for them to lose against Shels the next Friday. It's not about petty jealousies or made-up **** that you hate about rivals, this is supporting your countrymen, supporting Ireland on the World Stage. Putting local fueds ahead of it is sad and is what has Ireland and the EL in the state it is, though thankfully we're pulling ourselves out, no thanks to people like you.
Cool Signature ShelsTim
but Shelbourne are British.Quote:

No ... thats just not good enough. The league should be organised enough policy wise etc. to prevent this living off scraps no matter where it comes from. We should be learning from other leagues mistakes and improve the league with the resourses being made available to it.Quote:

Will shels bring that much to spain even if they hammered tonight?
The berry vest of luck to Shels tonight.
to hell with the begrudgers here, I've never come across such a bunch of moaners.
:D :D :DQuote:

Rivalry is great - but just because you want to beat Shels on a Saturday does not mean that you have to hope they get beat tonight. The two games are separate competitions - Shels winning tonight could be good for Cork on Saturday (attention elsewhere, tiredness etc) and Shels getting stuffed tonight coul dbe good for Cork on Saturday (dejection, anti-climax, tired etc). But Pablo and his buddies are doing just what they accuse of Ollie Byrne and Shels of doing. Putting their club's interest before the leagues.
Ollie Byrne's priority is Shels and the only criticism I have of him is that he puts his club before the good of the league. But all of the top (and some bottom) clubs do exactly the same. That is the problem with the eL imo and its major stumbling block. I have a lot of respect for what Shels have achieved - so what if they have 1,000 fans, 2,500 fans or 24,000 fans - they have put together a fine squad of players.
Cork got great support from the league and other supporters - the anti_Shels crowd seem to have a bit of a short memory. 6 games postponed to accommodate Cork's run. Shels have to play you on Saturday after a CL game tonight. If Shels' had got 6 games postponed there would have been shouts that Ollie Byrne was running the league.
C'mon Shels!
I think that Drogheda United may wish to argue with you on that point, despite what $h€£$ may think, their website still has them top of the league. hmmm.Quote:

All we need is belief and a slice of luck.
to those 2 or 3 city fans that keep going on about wanting shells to lose will ye get some sleep and turn of the pc.the VAST majority of us will be screaming at the tv sets tonight for shells.i would even be screaming for them maggots from tallaght eventhough i have fought enough of them over the years ;) only joking i never fought them ;)well not them all :D
Pablo hereby calls a truce for 90 mins tonight
i grudgingly wish The *****s luck tonight ;)
Truce it is, and after those 90 minutes we can start concentrating on the real deal saturday afternoon ;)Quote:

Come on the Rebel Army
I don't think the reason that SOME of the City fans wanted Shels to get hammered tonight was because we want to beat them on Saturday because what you say about there being things to our advantage if they lose but also if they win is true...However, I think the real reason SOME of the City fansQuote:

how is it unfair to do well and be rewarded for it. they all more or less started on the same level. shels took a few chances and moved forward. cork aren't that far behind. I don't think you're just picking on shels I just reckon any team that made the step up first would get abuse for it.Quote:

as a result they can't go and buy **** loads of players on expensive contacts as they have no guarantee of income.
all I see are a lot of jealous fans who wish it was their club getting close to the group stages.
i remember someone on this sit posting a few weeks back that it would be 20 years before an irish team made the group stages - it might be a few more but it wont be 20.
begrudery of the highest, nastiest order.
Great to be right,eh corner. ;) :DQuote:

Penalties would be the job but Depor would win them easily,Ireland verus Spain at World Cup 2002 brings back pain full memories. :(
Shels should frustrate the sh!te out of the balloxs and then grab the vital away goal with 10 minutes to go.
Ah.... if Carslberg only did CL Qualifiers.
Have to admit, last nights match made great TV. Perhaps it was just me
because there was an eL team was involved, but I haven't seem such
nailbiting stuff on TV since City played Waterford last season.
I think that I've come to realise that it's like watching England, you want to
see them lose so that there's an end to the smugness, but not just yet :D ,
much better if they get much further and then lose. Although with Shels
you can't win with that argument. England expect to win, Shels shouldn't
(if you go by the script) still be in it.
At least if they get through to the next round I'll get another few exciting nights of not wanting them to win (or, for that matter, lose).
At least they'll make a few bob and improve the flood defences at Tolka!
;)
I must admit id hat if it went to penos i sat thru the ireland spanish game in korea and it was too nerve wrecking
I'd take penalties now if ya offered em to me.50-50 chance of winning, pure luck(or lack of practice for the english national team :p ).
Once they don't get hammered 4 or 5 nil so the begrudgers and EL haters can say ''they were jammy to get that far''.
:rolleyes:Quote:
