Shels don't have a full time groundskeeper.
You should have seen it a few weeks back.

Pitch was terrible in Tolka.
Great goal by Philly but cant believe how negative we were in the second half with the man advantage. Fair play to Rovers kept trying and got their reward.
LOL atthe Sligo player diving near the end. Comical just comical and the fans baying for a red card :)
We'll see next week in Dalyer if it is our new weekly tradition.
Strawberry, You have to understand that after a game like last night rational thought and argument go out thru window for me until the next day. Case in point after the Fingal play-off, Cup Final 2011, All Ireland semi v Cork 2010, last game v Cork in Tolka 2011, I can't stand that feeling.
What's the problem with the pitch? Its no carpet but it certainly was no furrowed field.
Was the pitch the reason for your players attitude?
Hoops top of the league already.
Random, ad hominem attacks aside, do you seriously think that's a fit surface for professional football?
We had a crap pitch a few years back, Cook wanted his team to play passing football and demanded an improvement. We now have a surface that allows the ball to continue rolling in the direction it was hit. People complain about the league not getting enough respect - any casual viewer who sees the ball moving like it was bought in a joke shop will draw his own conclusions.
Your own league-winning side - one of the most attractive footballing teams to grace the LoI - would have had a fit if they had to play on that.
True enough it was a poor surface.
Fans never want to admit stuff like that on here which is understandable.
Sligo fans spitting on Paddy Kavanagh according to him, disgusting if true.
I was talking to club officials very recently and they make the same 'ad-pitchium' arguments you do. There just isn't the money to put it right. That's it; stop whinging about the pitch unless you have some concrete (not literally) suggestions on how to fund the improvement.
Perhaps Shels'd have had the cash if Richie Winters hadn't cheated them out of the Cup winner's prize money.
The pitch certainly doesn't explain North's amateur dramatics late in the match - diving fool - God help your club with a prima donna like that.
the pitch in UCD was shocking as well, surprised by that - doesnt explain how awful we were though
First division table makes for interesting reading. We're mid-table. Not too bad.
In other news, Keith Cowan was taken off on stretcher and taken away in an ambulance. Dirty Limerick scum, absolutely dirty challenge, doesn't deserve to ever play football again, rotten stuff, hope he breaks his leg.
Not a good start by Sligo, are they going to fall behind early again this season. Quigley, North and Cretaro at the same club, it will be interesting to see what influence they will have as the season develops. Great attendance at Derry, but the other gates Pats especially should have been bigger.
I thought it was quite a promising start to the season taking into account the last few weeks off the pitch, injuries and the circumstances last night.
I reckon we would probably have lost that game last season
He wasn't taken away in any ambulance, he went into the ambulance and then got back out of it.
Challenge wasn't anything malicious or dirty...coming from you who is probably one of the ones that defended Mark Forkers horrible tackle that broke Garry Sheahans leg last year.
No way you could have even seen the challenge properly from where ye were in the ground.
As for the last statement we have had enough of that with ye already.
Get your facts right before you start talking complete bull.
What are you on about. Didn't it happen in your own box as two players tried to win the ball, nothing malicious at all and not one of the harps players even reacted to it so it must not have been that bad. Bluewhite says he got up out of the ambulance after so couldn't be that bad.
What's your angle with calling limerik scum and hoping the player breaks his legs? Makes no sense.
The Spit O' Red :)
For those complaining about the Tolka pitch - you are in for a treat when you travel to Monaghan!
What a stupid post you clown it just proves you didn't even see what happened because if you did you would of seen that behan had the ball in the box fainted to shoot 3 harps players dived to block the shot with yer owe player sliding in on yer owe player basically Limerick had the ball so how could we have made a tackle. AS for you sickening comment about breaking legs your nothing but a complete muppet.
You folk make me laugh. Not sure whats worse..the fact you took what I said seriously..or that you're arguing the point about the tackle.
I know it wasn't a bad tackle, and I was talking to Keith after the game too who is actually grand. He's getting a scan today to see how bad it is but it's not as bad as it first looked.
No mention of the tackle on Peers in the last minute by any of the Shels fans amazingly enough (stupid playacting by keane after it). Shame to see Tolka Park gone to the state it's in,
Great performance by us in the second half I thought under all the circumstances. Peers and Dillon the two standout performers. Shels number 8 was excellent as well (was it Cassidy?)
Yeah it was Casso. He's a cut above sometimes. It can be frustrating when he's so far ahead in his thinking and tries to do something clever which the rest of the players aren't able to envisage and then an attack boils down to nothing.
Deano's distribution was shocking last night and I don't know how many of those awful kickouts were telegraphed. The amount of times he dilly-dallied over the ball and allowed ye to get back into position was something fierce.
Didn't like the look of Rogers under pressure on any backpass. We should have exploited that more.
I just hope for the rest of the season that Sligo don't go down that road of OTT protests at the ref and the rest. I always had a soft spot for the Bit O'Red but last season and last night have coloured my attitude towards ye.
Some win for Wexford. Had Cobh or Tralee been beaten by that score in the opening weekend their place in the league would've been questioned. On the back of an 8-0 friendly loss to Shamrock, things are not looking good in Waterford.
Obviously a joke! Especially after limerick fans reaction to an honest tackle that went wrong last season with Mark Forker.
Was at the Shels-Sligo match... Two things:
1. Kavanagh is telling the truth.
2. Worst pitch I've ever seen in loi, I think!
I remember when Tolka was by far the best pitch in the league!!
Here are two performance analyses from last night's game:
