Eoin Doyle and Joe Mason started together up front and showed signs that they could develop into a first choice partnership next season, as they both got on the scoresheet to sink the Tangerines.
Man-of-the-match: Eoin Doyle
Quality movement, awareness. Twice played a role in build-up to Mason’s goal. Scored from penalties with clinical efficiency, taking his tally to 29 this season (25 for Chesterfield) 8
Included in the league one team of the season, despite not having played there since the end of January!

Eoin Doyle
Forward, Chesterfield
The Dublin-born striker’s 32 goals in 69 games for Chesterfield earned him a move to Championship club Cardiff in the transfer window. There were plenty of other suitors who recognised the striking qualities of a player who began his career in Ireland with Shamrock and Sligo before making his mark in Scotland with Hibs. Fourteen goals in the first two months of the season alerted a host of clubs, with Cardiff winning the race for his signature.
Shamrock. Always good for a lol.
30th goal of the season for Doyle this afternoon. 4 goals in his last 4 games at this level.
Well worthy of a call up this summer, never mind Callum Wilson, Patrick Bamford and players that don't want to play for Ireland.
agreed - madden couldn't really cut it in the championship so i held back on doyle but after a slow start he has settled in at cardiff and the goals have come.
has to be considered.
Harsh on Madden, had a falling out with the manager at Yeovil and never really got a chance at championship level before decided a move to Scunthorpe would be better for him

Doyle tells Slade he's the man to lead the charge for Cardiff after adapting to steep step up.
Doyle gone to PNE on loan for the season. Will be disappointed with that I'd say and, though I don't get much Championship footie here at all, he appeared to be faring fairly well?
He hadn't made an appearance all season AFAIK.
Yeah, Cardiff have been going with Kenwyne Jones and Joe Mason this season. In fairness, it's hard to fault them. Jones has a solid PL record and would trouble any defence with his physicality. Mason is one of our own and has two goals in his five starts so we can't complain there.
I think 3 of those 5 goals were penalties for Doyle, no?
Anyway, it's not a bad move for him. Preston were apparently interested in January and he'll get his fair amount of chances to prove himself there, surely, and there's no drop in division.
Absolutely not a bad move for him but will be interesting to see how he responds.
Charlie, for some reason I had it in my head that he'd scored this season.
Yea I don't see this as bad new at all given the situation, if he stayed he would more
likely be competing for Mason's place.
Indeed 3 were penalties 2 v Blackpool and 1 v Ipswich.
Anyhow they way I see it is he will be getting more time on the pitch playing and that can't be a bad things.
Cardiff will not look too clever is Preston finish above them!!
And what happens when Cardiff play Preston? Will he be "cup tied"?
It's more or less standard these days that all loaned players have a clause not to play their employers. Arsenal used to let their loanees play against them but I'm pretty sure they stopped after it bit them in the arse a couple of times.
Think that's for Premier League clubs only Charlie, and it's a regulation enforced by the PL itself, not by clubs
Last minute equalizer from Doyle.
Looks like the goal originally given to Marnick Vermijl in the Bolton game has been awarded to Doyle, which means he has 2 in 2, and 4 in 23 for the season.
9 in 23 starts for Cardiff and Preston when you put it like that.

Interesting to note also that his ex strike partner, Joe Mason, has the best shots on target conversion ratio by a distance among the leading scorers in the Championship.
Has moved to Preston on a three year deal.

Think you linked the wrong match there Crafty... here you go :)
Crazy day for Doyle today, off the bench on 80 minutes, scores on 81 minutes, sent off on 88 minutes!
Sent odd for fighting teammate Beckford after he didn't play Beckford in on the edge of the box. No footage of it yet.
Completely unnecessary to send them off. I was led to believe punches were thrown, but no, they merely squared up to each other and exchanged tense words.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/...sent-fighting/
Next, footballers will be getting sent off for using coarse language - oh wait.
I get where Doyle is coming from. Beckford seems like an incredibly difficult footballer to play with.
I was at the game but didn't see the incident but was happy to see them go. When Doyle came on Preston looked more dangerous.
Definitely more dangerous alright........
Preston fan in his forties waits for Eoin Doyle outside the ground after the match so he can harass him; calls him a disgrace; calls him a disgrace a second time after failing to provoke a reaction; Doyle reacts verbally, and Preston fan in his forties reports Doyle to Simon Grayson and his assistant. You have to love English football fans. They can dish out the most vitriolic filth to their own players and opposition players for 90 minutes but if you say boo back to them they go crying to the authorities.

Wednesday fan here. Stayed behind after the match for my lad to get Autographs and pics from players.
Preston players were coming out intermittently and chatting to the PNE fans milling round and then Doyle came out with the knob that is Ben Pringle laughing away.
One of the Preston fans who looked a respectable guy in his mid 40's shouted at Doyle he was a 'disgrace' to which he got abused by Pringle. He once again shouted to Doyle was a disgrace to which Doyle said to the fella he had better watch his fookin back in future. Nice.
Plenty of witnesses and the guy made a point of waiting for Grayson and the Assistant to report his threatening behaviour. The Assistant did not sound surprised about Doyle and Pringles behaviour at all and asked him to put it all in a letter to him.
Interestingly the Preston fans gave Beckford a decent reaction when he came out.
Would hate to imagine any of our players showed that disrespect to fans as Doyle did.
Bizarre game and don't think our 9 men would have held out against 11.
I think it was definitely more than tense words - in the picture on the link, you see Beckford putting his head into Doyle's and this clearly set Doyle off as in the video you see him raise his arms to Beckford, although it's unclear whether this was intended as a punch or an aggressive shove because one of the other players, Johnson, was intervening and took some of the sting out of it. So I'd still say the ref was right to send both of them off. I agree about Beckford though. I saw a clip on one of the Football League shows a few years ago where Beckford, then at Leeds, nearly took a guy's head off with a blatant elbow. When the tunnel reporter started to ask him about the incident he interrupted her and screeched NOTHING HAPPENED!! When she pushed him on it again he again screeched NOTHING HAPPENED!!
If all the guy said was that Doyle was a disgrace and Doyle responded with a threat (which is what the Wednesday fan said happened), then Doyle is well out of order. However, the fact that the North End fans received Beckford well reflects badly on them - that they will harangue the badly behaved forward who isn't scoring but applaud the badly-behaved forward who is - and may be a sign that Preston might be a toxic environment for Doyle and that he should think about moving on.
joint statement issued by both players: http://www.pnefc.net/news/article/20...t-3452228.aspx
I don't see how they owe the fans anything personally.
The entitlement of some people..
