Our closest trip is roughly 4 hours by bus return, be it Galway or Derry.
Then all the rest are at least 6 hours return to Dublin/Louth/Wicklow.
That is every other week, so dont play the travel card.

I'm not considering friendlies, but playing 10 more games than most teams in Europe this year, was and is a great experience. I wouldn't want to give it up just to play a league side for the 4th time in a few months.Quote:

Can't believe we could have qualified for this at the end of the season but instead stuck out reserve teams. (Although to be honest, we might not have qualified for it anyway).
A poster asked for the latest official figures from our last AGM so I provided it.
As for the justification for raising our budget as I said all indications are that we made another healthy profit last year again.
Now obviously nobody here will have the official figures until the next AGM so until then its idle speculation and all we can work with is the solid facts at are disposal and one of them is our financial stability over the past few years.
Read my post in the transfer rumours thread.
But it's so much effort...
Because I start fundraising threads? Suppose if they're removed it clears the way for the annual Sligo 'handouts wanted' thread.
Gone seriously off topic here lads. As regards O'Neill leaving Shams, some sportscaster talking today that if O'Neill gets NI job in front of Magilton then the latter might be offered Shamrock Rovers job?
Seems Kenny has been in talks with Shamrock Rovers for the last 48 hours, so could be confirmed in the coming days.
Can we ask Dahamsta to re-open the Dumbass thread?
This sort of childish sh!te on here just turns everyone against Sligo Rovers and I know for a fact that, contrary to the behaviour of some of the Sligo posters on here, the vast majority of Sligo fans are sound. Such a pity.
Back on topic(ish), it looks like the muckers are already looking at options to replace Kenny with Pizza mentioned as a potential candidate.

SRFC board member saying we are nowhere near appointing a manager, could be a smoke screen incase an agreement cant be met

If he goes, we get some money from Shams so that's something, although SK has in previous years threatened to leave to get a bigger budget so I reserve judgement just yet. The ultras forum shows just how fickle football fans can be, months ago they wanted SK and Zayed dead, now there commending SK's loyalty to his players and considering how good an addition to their team Zayed will be:D
Kenny I've not much problem with. I remain to be convinced about Zayed in terms of ability. He wouldn't be my first, second or third choice to pilfer from the Brandywell. Even Eoin Doyle scored nearly 20 goals last season thanks to Galway/UCD. Zayed's sister however would have a lot of making up to do.
Looks like O'Neill will be named as the Nordie manager
It wont be announced until New Year according to the BBC.
He has been offered the job according to SSN.
Its now confirmed that Kennys left Derry. Good luck to him.

Kenny to take over at Shamrock Rovers
Saturday, 24 December 2011 11:12
Stephen Kenny will be confirmed as Shamrock Rovers manager later today after reaching an agreement with the 2011 Premier Division champions.
Kenny will end a second spell in charge of Derry to join Rovers and replace Michael O'Neill as Hoops boss.
Rovers will pay Derry City compensation for Kenny's services.
Kenny has previously managed Dunfermline, Bohemians and Longford Town.
