All over ... well done !!
Well done, City! A creditable result, although I don't see you going through judging from what I heard. I often think it's better to lose 1-2 away from home in the first leg than draw 0-0.
Good luck in the second leg.
well done City, i'm so proud again.
Gutted i couldn't go. hopefully we'll have a trip to Nantes next
big game sunday :)
That was so nerve racking.
Fair play to Billy Barry though he did a great job commentating and wore his heart on his sleeve - love it.
Haven't we come a long way.
Our fans sounded absolutely brilliant at the game - outsang the Dutch fans from what I could hear. Looking forward to seeing it on Chorus on Monday night.
Enough moaning from everyone now - E16 to see these heroes next week is a snip.
They can keep their English teams - who needs them when we have a team like this on our own doorstep.
Feel particularly sad for all those barstoolers on a night like tonight and what they are missing - muppets!
Exactly how i feel. and i tell everyone i see in an premiersh"t jersey that too.Quote:

Intertoto: N.e.c.-Cork City remain doelpuntloos (03/07/2004)
N.E.C. played vanavond the first game for the Intertoto cup against the Irish club Cork city FC. In stadion the Goffert finished the game such as these started: 0 - 0. the game was extremely unilateral; N.E.C. had by far it most of the ball possession but did not succeed there in chances at creeeren against the stiffly defending Irish plough. In first half N.E.C. became only dangerously shots of Boutahar, Tininho and Simr.
In second half the game picture was exactly the same. N.E.C. had ball possession, tried the aim of reaching, but did not succeed in this. The ieren played with eleven players on own half but came by it as much as a couple time dangerously. Fortunately they had the sight on sharp do not stand.
N.E.C. became dangerously just in the last kwartier, then a shot of Wielaert on the lat ended up and volley of invaller Romano Denneboom rakelings concerning went. (later more)

isnt it great to see a team doing well in europe that we can call "OUR TEAM"
what do u mean by thisQuote:

it was nail biting stuff
well done (again) ,now finish the job by nailing them at the cross. :D
Eoinh - that transcript sounds like a combination of a Noel Spillane report and a Derek Kiely commentary :D
I have a migrane trying to read it and broke out is a sweat when it said "more later" at the end. :D
Roll on next Sunday.
And there seems to be more press appreciation this week than before. Disappointed with RTE News though. No mention on 6 news and only one line "and finally..." on the 9 news.
Colin Murray ain't the biggest fan of the NATIONAL league if there is a creature with four legs nearby.
I like that :DQuote:

Hockey has had two live matchs so far this year - el football none.
More live reports about sailing matters than el football. Its getting ridicoulous even by RTE standards
what will we have next on? - crown green bowls.
As A Face would say "Holy s hit Batman this cant be right"!
Our new signing lads.
I just saw the video higlights there and Billy played great football last night! :)
Whats with that jersey? Its stupid looking thing. The crest???
Fabulous result, we may have been under pressure but we weathered it, frustrated them. Heres hoping we can finish the job next sunday.
Now, just dont let us do a bloody Ballymena!!!
just saw woodsie header and couple of inches lower and we would have had that precious away goal
keeper and defender on the post were stranded
Billy was very unlucky with the header in the first half but really should have scored in the second half but he went for power instead of accuracy and put it wide.
It'll be very tough for City next week as NEC are a good side and had City under pressure for most of the game
Hey ... you might be quoting that out of context :DQuote:

Couldn't be arsed reading the whole thread, but my thoughts on the game.
We SHOULD have won, I reckon 2 - 1 to us would have been a fair result.
I thought bringing on Gamble was a strange descision, Nwanko would have been a better choice.
Benno was my MOTM, an outstanding performance.
While they must have had 80% possession, they never really looked like scoring, and their only 2 real chances came when we were visibly tiring and I reckon the sun in the eyes had a little bit to do with it too.
However, another week of them training together, and their coaching staff having had a good look at us will improve their performance again. The balance is with them now, as a score draw will do them. Realistically, we need to score twice.
Mickey Devine made one of the best saves I've ever seen in any level of sport.
I reckon Flynnie will not be as big a loss to us as he once might have been, if he goes.
If Neeskens has any sense he will try to sign Georgie.
Fantastic stadium, except for the very steep steps up to the terrace.
We should have won it lads...... :(
But a draw is still a fine result.... :D
What are ya on about saying Flynny won't be a great loss now if he goes, are ya still drunk on the dutch heiny or what man?I'll agree he's not been brilliant this year but we have to give him time to get back to his very best after his terrible injury problems over the last year. He's the best striker we've had for a long time and could be the greatest we've ever had if he stays with us and gets back to the form that we all now he has.
i think patsh has a point here about flynny
2 seasons ago we would have miseed flynny big time
now with the depth and strength in our squad, u would fancy winning games without flynny in the team
AND I HAVE NO DRINK TAKEN :D
What are you on about ..... it runs through your veins like !! :DQuote:

Yeah but I'd say some of the stuff you consumed last week in Malmo/Copenhagen is still in your system! :DQuote:

As for Flynny, I agree. We have now showed that we can cope quite well without him, obviously we'd prefer to keep him but if he did go we have very adequate and capable cover.
Yeah it was superb. I was convinced the ball was in but then all of a sudden Mick's hand appeared out of nowhere to knock the ball away. Brilliant.Quote:

We already know that Georgie is the best player in Ireland but he's now showing that he is good enough for the European stage aswell.Quote:
