Has William Buckley of Brighton any Irish roots?
Certainly has good name for an Irish forward. Makes me feel nostalgic for Liam Buckley in his prime.

Shane Robinson scored again for Haka in Finland today
Joey O'Brien played a full game for West Ham, don't know how he went but getting a full game is a positive in itself. Joe Mason came off the bench in Cardiff's win.
Mick thinks U19 midfielder Anthony Forde could make an impact in the Wolves team this season: http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/...es-boss-plans/
Video of him playing for Wolves here on their site, if anyone has a subscription: http://www.wolves.co.uk/articles/201...264227_2414974
He looked very good in the U19 championship. Two-footed, quick and technically very good, with a wicked shot.
Roy O'Donovan with the goal for Coventry tonight in the League Cup; think it's his first for them. Kind of surprised to see Dave Mooney hasn't yet figured for Leyton Orient (not even on the bench) . . . might be an injury as he had scored for them in a pre-season friendly.
Yeah, heard this goal as it went in on the radio commentary, it was Bell who crossed, Jutkiewicz headed against the bar from point blank and O'Donovan finished it. Also, Collins notched again for Shwresbury, two in two for him now, against Champoinship opponents, Derby for whom Mark O'Brien lined out at CB, not a great night for that defence losing 3-2 at home to a side two leagues below. St. Ledger not involved at all for Leicester. Stephen Quinn scored for Sheff Utd.
Hourihane played in the carling cup tuesday for Plymouth
Anyone else catch Sheffield Wednesday vs Blackpool tonight? Clarke played the full 120 for Blackpool. He had an impressive work rate though I thought he had poor match, missing a sitter and his penalty in the process as well as some poor set pieces. Of course he's still getting back his sharpness, though he did show his versatility playing up top, wide left, and even slotting in at left back towards the end. The Clint looked a shadow of his former self, came on at the half and really didn't do much (though had precious little service, even after Blackpool went down to 10 men), though he did stick away his penalty. It appears he picked up from Robbie how to stand around and flail his arms when an perceived an injustice occurs though. James O'Connor played the full 120 for Wednesday in the middle and looked decent, also stuck away his penalty. Always thought he was unlucky never to have gotten a cap considering some of the other central midfielders who did.
Anyone know if Wednesday's keeper Richard O'Donnell has Irish roots?
Not according to Wiki but this guy may be a possibility. Good luck to him.

Noel Hunt got the opener for Reading today (a close range heady) with an assist from Ian Harte..
Fahey's goal was after an assist by Adam Rooney.
Quite a difference a year makes. Not an Irish player in sight in the first few weeks of last season. This year our Championship players, bar St. Ledger maybe, all seem to have got off to good starts. Stokes (cough) is off to a good start at Celtic, and in the EPL we had a fair few featuring yesterday with outstanding performances from Shay and Hoolahan by all accounts, and a great goal from Ward. C'mon lads, keep the form up and stay fit.
I think it's great that the 3 lads(plus a few in the Champ) who scored in the premier league all have their roots in the League of Ireland.
It'll show young lads that their is a career for them, playing back here which can only help the league improve,
and it shows the clubs in England that their are good players to be got over here, and God knows, we
need the money that those transfers will bring. Long may it continue
Yes, I texted my mates earlier that 5 ex-LOI players scored in the EPL & C'ship this w/e. Were there more?
What did Derry get for McClean - £350k? That's a lot of wedge.
Does anyone know if Anthony Stokes was ever in Terenure College, my old school? I've heard it said but never substantiated.
Yeah, he was.
''Anthony left Terenure in 2003 to pursue a football career with Arsenal. Whilst on loan to Falkirk, Anthony was the leading goalscorer in all of Scotland. Sunderland’s Roy Keane recently swooped to move him to The stadium of light for an initial fee of €3 million. He is reported to be on a pay packet of €25,000 per week.''

Keep an eye out for Anthony Pilkington(or Pilks as I affectionately call him) starting for Norwich today. Have only ever seen him once, playing for the U21s but looks a prospect.
His wiki is a bit ominous
I wouldn't go down the token cap route though. A phone call from Tardelli or someone letting him know that the Irish setup are keeping an eye on him might keep his toes pointing the right direction.Quote:
He qualifies through his paternal grandmother from Dublin but has not yet declared his national side, so may still play for the English national team despite playing for the Republic of Ireland under-21s.
Up Mayo....
Darren Potter and Stephen Gleeson had assists in MK Dons win over Norwich last night. Jay O'Shea came off the bench and former Sporting Fingal player Shaun Williams played the full match.
Accrington Stanley are waiting on clearance to play Padraig Amond tomorrow.

Stanley have agreed a season-long loan deal for the 23-year-old with his Portuguese club Pacos de Ferreira, but are waiting for international clearance.
Just thought I point out that Birmingham's Nathan Redmond is half Irish. Though he seems to be committed to England, maybe Hughton can push him in the right direction.
Congratulations to Michael Harriman making his Premier League debut for QPR today.
Quote:
Hall's time on the field came to a premature end as Michael Harriman came on for his Premier League bow. The young full-back slotted in on the right with The useful Gabbidon slotting in alongside Perone.
Barry Maguire started for VVV, they're currently 3-1 down heading for half-time. Just noticed that Northern Irish-Japanese Robert Cullen is playing for them too. Maybe Barry will have a word in his ear.
great start of the season from an irish players point of view, great to see lads getting games and playing really well. brilliant in comparison to the beginning of last season, especially with the 2 big games just around the corner
No D Duff in Fulhams squad.......
