Why don't you start a UFC/MMA thread, Crosby?
Yeah, none of that UFC nonsense here please:cool:
So Mayweather and Manny finally get down on May 2. Will be the highest grossing fight ever with HBO and Showtime sharing the PPV.
Busy sports day with the Kentucky Derby also May 2.
Carl Frampton won again Saturday night - some big big fights coming up for him over the next year or two - genuinely exciting prospect that he may unify the super-bantamweight division.
Only saw this now, Virgil Hill fought again this past weekend, and won. Shocking!
Limerick man Irish Andy Lee defending his belt this Saturday night in Brooklyn....NBC continues trying to help make boxing a sport again as they put it on national tv.
Al Michaels, Marv Albert, Bob Costas and Sugar Ray Leonard all on hand providing analysis for the Peacock network and their combined ages are about 700.
Is it on the main NBC network ? I thought it was just on NBCSN ?
Would love to see Andy win. He is a proper Irish fighter!!
Just heard, maybe incorrectly, Cork's Mike Perez is due to fight Povetkin in May for a version of the World Title. I know the Cork-Cuban was fairly hyped up, but he seems to have a chance. Povetkin is an average fighter who bottled it against Kiltschko, but have big money in his corner.
OK LADS I was right this is on national TV.
Not going to be an easy fight. Lets see?
Not a ranking fight anymore as Kid Chocolate didn't make weight: http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/othe...ight-1.2172086
Asinine.
Just got home.
Andy got lucky, the fix in etc...
He got knocked down in the first round....stuck it out....
Looked very like Andy was a bit off the boil with al the messing around. I had it a draw.
On Friday there was an even weirder fight here in Russia with the lucky loser Lebedev getting a gifted decision. Knocked down as well but oddly the knockdown was retroactively discounted. Opponent, French-Congolese, seemed to hold back in the last 4 rounds. Lebedev is heavily backed but very basic.
Had it as a draw as well, some turn around all the same considering the first 6 rounds
Andy was a bit unlucky I thought - the second knock down was as a result of Quillin standing on Andy's foot, a mistake the referee acknowledged - which in hindsight, cost Andy the fight.
I was talking about the crowd reaction lads, sorry, was drunk on sat night.
Might watch a bit of this Klitschko Jennings fight tonight. Jennings is so much more technically sound than that clown...but the circus in the ring still manages to win.
Frampton comes alive with unanimous dec.
Might be worth updating the thread title.
Donegal boxer Jason Quigley goes 11-0 in his pro career with a very impressive win in the Canelo/Khan undercard tonight against James De La Rosa. Unanimous decision with judges all scoring it 100-90 in favour of Quigley.

God, every time Sky have a pay for view boxing match, they promote it to the detriment of any other major sporting event that may be on. There was a non-event of Amir Khan against Canadian Phil Lo Greco which lasted all of 40 seconds which we had to put up with for days on end and then we have Eddie Hearn, who I'd trust as far as I'd throw him, promoting the next fight. Then we have the staring matches and the pretend bust ups at the press conferences. What a spectacle boxing has become.
