You Sligo Rovers fans sicken me...
Had a fantastic conversation with a random sligs fan on a night out who berrated me for a good 10 minutes and compared our style of football as just "hoof it to twigg". Suffice to say I think he's in for a shock on Sunday. (although its well known sligo play the best brand of football)
In fairness to Shams they did play some decent football at times, especially in the second half of the season from what I seen. The flip side to that is that any team who puts their centre-half up as a third striker with 10-15 minutes to go in a game and takes long throws and lobs balls into the box, you can see why peole might call it hoofball.
Have they opened up the top tiers ? Went on to Ticketmaster to get tickets and it has block's 304 premium and 506 which is upper. Can't get any lower level tickets on it.
East, West, South Upper stand all open on Ticketmaser. You must select Ticket price 10 euro to select Upper stands. to select Premium seating you must select the price at 30 euro.
€2 booking fee per ticket. What a joke. How do they justify a fee that's 20% of the ticket price?
Great work from both clubs in terms of ticket sales, now we just need the fai to promote this game big time and get the neutrals off their bums out to the game for what could be an amazing day for irish football :)
only the upper east stand is available it must be to keep the majority of the crowd in front of the cameras.
Should be a far better atmosphere than at that farce of a rugby match yesterday.
The Hoops initial allocation is sold out but the upper tier tickets are going on sale from tomorrow, from the club and ticketmaster still have some(not many) lower tickets left.

They are making it hard for neutrals to buy tickets. Ticketmaster is the only source available with a booking fee. The FAI should have a caravan available on the day of the match or else sell them in their shop in Dublin.
The attendance of 30,000 at Bray & St. Francis in 1990 may be beaten.
On Monday Shamrock Rovers will have a further allocation, you can buy online from the club shop and will get the tickets posted out to you that day, no booking fee or anything. You can choose what section you sit in to make sure you're not in with Ultras but instead in a more family/neutral section if you want. Check shamrockrovers.ie tomorrow and follow the link to online shop.
Good to see so many tickets being sold by the clubs and credit to the FAI for pricing it so well to get so many people to go to the game. I would say there'll be more people at the final on Sunday then will be at the rugby international the day before it
As regards to the game itself O'Neill did make a very good point on MNS about how high up the pitch we press teams. I think it's a huge part of our game that while we do pass the ball very well we make it very hard for teams who play against us to play the ball out from defence as well. The last game in Tallaght in the first half for the first 10 minutes Shams tried to play it out from the back but the pressure was just too much so they started hitting it long to Twigg.
Got my tickets today. Looking forward to it. In the upper tier of the East Stand. I think that'll be mixed neutrals and Shamrock Rovers fans. Your one in Ticketmaster didn't really have a clue though.
Is there any way of finding out how the ticketmaster sales are going ?
I reckon nearly all neutrals will be supporting Sligo. Not necessarily a knee-jerk anti Shams prejudice - just that Sligo are a far more attractive team. The difference between the style of football the two teams played in their respective semi-finals was remarkable. And Shams looked a complete shambles against Bray. Hope they have the courage to play a bit more on the ground against Sligo and don't ruin it as a spectacle by endless hoofball.

I think we will play 3 up front to combat this.
So tell me if we were playing any other team do you honestly think the same neutrals would be up for us? Anyhow what's the bets that Sligo don't play this sparkling football and they'll have the excuse of 'not turning up', or else use the one's that are already in waitine, ie the suspended players, the fai want us to win it, the ref gave us everything etc.
Could be wrong, but Id say Galway and Harps would be up for ye no matter who ye were playing, they seem to have a connection with ye. Plenty of other fans will be cheering for ye too no doubt.
We have just lost the best passing midfielder in the league so what do you think, in fairness. Finals are notoriously dull affairs anyway, with no player wanting to make the big mistake.Quote:

Ticket sales as per FAI :Anybody going gets a tenner off the Norway game: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/1108/faicup.htmlQuote:
The Hoops have sold around 9,500 tickets, while the Bit o' Red sales are approaching 8,000.
They've done a decent job on this but I'd like to see more ticket outlets for neutrals.
On the radio there that the rubgy team are training in the Aviva ahead of their game at the weekend. Thats ridicuolous.
In fairness, it wouldn't be right to deny the egg-chasers the chance to practise, seeing as the surface is only going to be used by one team on Sunday anyway.
Hopefully it's half as good as the last final played there.
Going for the bit o red in this one shock!
Only ticketmaster and the FAI will know that but the best possible indication would be from the 'best available' €10 tickets on the website. Currently the best available is East Stand Block 507 Row Q, yesterday was Block 506 (which is nearer the centre of the stand than block 507) so I'd guess from that sales are not amazing but steady enough considering there is still 6 days of ticket sales left.
That's hilarious :D

Bound to favour Shams' tactic of hoofball up to Twigg.
Not such good news for Rovers.
And that's just from this one page on this one thread.Quote:
