Tricky one for Carrick Utd on Sunday next in Limerick. Rathkeale going well in Desmond League.
That's in the Munster Senior I presume - wouldn't have thought ye'd be too worried about going out of that - surely ye are focused on the league and MJC & FAI.
Was at the Crystal - Tramore game Sunday morning and thought it was the best game of ball I've seen so far this season (maybe even last year too). Helped in no small way by it being a glorious morning not a cloud in the sky or a breath of wind - maybe that's what coloured my view! Tramore will be kicking themselves to have been knocked out. First half even enough with Tramore giving away 2 soft penalties, first fairly clear cut, second less so particularly having conceded first. Third goal a very good effort by the impressive Paul Quilty. Tramore had scored straight after Crystal's first. Second half was all Tramore with Stephen Grant getting more involved but they missed at least 2 clear chances befoe Grant did score with only a few minutes to go. Couldn't get the equaliser they probably desrved but having said that Crystal did have a few good performances particularly Paul Quilty with his 1st half hat-trick (good footballer & tough cookie) and centre of defence. Tramore played good football but couldn't make it count.
That's how Sunday mornings should be!
didnt make above game , word has it this was a excellent cup game . as winter approaches efforts to get out of the area will produce this standard of game. Couple of people mentioned poor condition of Crystals pitch , uneven surface and high grass. Was this on purpose , maybe or not , but standards should surely be higher.
wow , this could be a watershed fixture. it will be more than a six-pointer. any predictions (score ,cards, ref-who is capable-) Surely biggest attendance this season. A must for diary for sure.
What is it with Tramore every year they seem to make these great signings and just cant get out of Waterford in national comp.Tramore are great at keeping possession but when it comes to final third there lacking that killer instinct.Great to see a good close league for a change. Its looking like Carrick and the Crystal in next round of Munster, should be interesting.
Tramore are well packed this season. They picked up Grincell and Grant from Waterford Utd.
Seems to be a regular conveyor belt of players from the RSC to the seaside town. Still , I suppose it makes for an exciting league between those three, Carrick, Crystal and Tramore.
everyone is waiting for them to kick on form their league success two seasons ago they have an excelent passing team, they probably should have kept a hold of joey watson to compete i later stages of mj and fai. League game in coolnamuck promises to be a facinating incounter as regards officals i hope Andrew "Mash" Mulally dosent get it, nice lad and all but tends to be like a rabbit caught in the head lights at times tramore v carrick last season & carrick v glass earlier this season spring to mind!

the latest tables!
Good to see carrick doing well in the lower leagues 1b team had a good win away to abbeyside and the 2b are 5th but if they win sunday they coulld go second other results depending and also david quinlans youths riding high at the top of the youths b table Keep up the good work!!!
Good win for the lads in Rathkeale. Also helpful to be able to give youth players a run.
Division 1B side going great guns also
Piltown v Hibs tonight at 7 Should be a good game of ball i think piltown mite sneak this 1
Tramore v Saviours sat at 7 tramore should prevail but hopefully not ha ha
waterford glass v bolton sunday 11am fully expect the glass to go through reasonably comfortable
carrick v southend sunday 11 am southend always put up a battle in carrick but they havent set the world alight in 1a carrick 3-1
Piltown 3-0 Hibs, Alan Walsh with 2, Gerry Walsh with 1. Piltown away would be tricky enough in next round.
carrick 1 southend 0 very poor game carrick without adrian walsh looked shaky at the back, however when wayne fitzgerald came on he gave carrick some nice impetus and bust thru the southend midfield to lay on for his brother thomas to score a screamer for outside the area, carrick will nedd to pick up the tempo for next sunday,
Tramore 2 saviors 1 in fai also anyone have a result from the glass v bolton
Carrick v tramore 11am sunday i hope this incoming weather front doesnt ruin the game, hopefully the league doesnt have their first blanket ban of they year these blanket bans do my nut every pitch should be inspected by the ref on the day of the fixture
by all accounts Carrick were not at their best last sunday v. Southend . no word on Tramore`s
win against St Saviours. This is possibly biggest game this season , if previous "battles" are anything to go on. I would think a tight game with one goal to decide it either way, keepers will be crucial. Could be busy day for refs, any thoughts from either camp.
Ye Sunday should be very interesting for both teams, Carrick and Tramore really have had sum great battles over the years.Any idea what the Carrick team could be now that everyone is just back expect for Spud and now that macsharry can play??
the team will be pretty much the same as what finished last sunday Wayne Fitz will probably start instead of Burke left back is up for grabs with P Coady A. Grace and B Landers all in with a shout, Tramore were not supposed to be great versus saviours last week and might have being beaten had things gone the ballybeg mens way
where has mcsherry been last few seasons? class player when his head is in the game. How are the lads carrick signed from rock rovers getting on with ye. will any of them make yer first 11
Carrick were not great last Sunday, so lets hope it is a matter of getting a bad game out of the system. It is very important that the officials keep charge of proceedings and do not let things get out of hand. There is bound to be tension as you would expect in any top of the table clash.
The Hoops squad looks strong, especially with injured players returning and those who have been absent coming back into consideration.
Crystal will be looking on with interest also as a draw or Tramore win would be ideal for them.
All in all it is a massive match at Tom Drohan Park which will have a major influence on where honours will rest at season's end.
I will sit on the fence and predict a score draw
Adam went for open trials over in england and nearly signed with brentford i think injuries held him back, he is back now and registered wheter he plays on sunday i dont know, as for the rock boys jj and paul coady have started a good few games where as spud has being injured the last while when glen keane gets back fit carrick look like they have an impressive squad.
Important league win for Carrick today in Tom Drohan Park v Tramore. Very impressive first half and Keith Walsh's excellent goal should have been added to on a few occasions. Tramore came a little more into it in the second half but despite injuries to the Fitzgeralds, Carrick were comfortable and should drive on from here and are now five points clear.
Fizzy's injury looked bad and he could a long term injury.
Carrick v Tramore was a great ad for junior soccer . The pace , tension and big crowd made for great sunday morning entertainment . Carrick prob deserved win for 1st half display , and though Tramore improved in 2nd half , walsh had little to do in Carricks goal. Carricks back 4 held firm with O`donnell outstanding. must say the 3 officials done well to keep 22 on the field as tensions ran high at times. well done to all and great value at 3euro
I thought carrick didnt actually play that well and felt tramore were good for a point, the back 4 were excellent and carrick need wayne fitz fit he is very good at driving a team forward, carrick play st josephs sunday in munster junior then piltown in fai junior the following week
To be honest Carrick still have not played to there potential so far this season and in saying that they are still unbeaten in all competitions and have only conceded 6 goals in 17 matches.Yes Wayne will be a big loss but that is what the panel of 19 players is for.
Massive win the weekend against Tramore, Carrick were the better team in the first half and Tramore took over in the second half without really troubling Adrian in the goal.We are now 5pts ahead of Tramore and 6pts ahead of the Glass at the half way stage. And whats very good to see is that the goal scorers are coming from all over the field instead of depending on 1 or 2 players.
Munster jnr cup results
Carrick 2-1 St Josephs Alan Coady,Keith Walsh with goals for Carrick
Waterford Glass 0-3 Hibs Carrick at home to hibs in next round
St Saviours 3-0 Inch
Dungravan 3-3 Grannagh,Dungravn won 5-4 on penos
Southend 2-0 Dls
Piltown 4-1 Castle bridge
Played for Saints against Carrick Yesterday. There is no doubt Carrick are a fantastic team. I think Josephs were very unlucky yesterday and should definitely have had a peno in 2nd half. Carrick missed Wayne and Thomas big time. They have a winning mentality however and must be respected for what they have done the past 5-6 years. Keith Walsh was very good as usual.
Any chance of an upset in the big local derby on fri night. Piltown vs Carrick in the fai.Or will carrick just blow them away?
Carrick, even though they've been winning games, have not being playing very well lately. In the games v Southend and St.Josephs, both 1A teams, they have just got over the line.
It promises to be an interesting encounter and in the cup all form goes out the window especially in a local derby.
Not to be missed!
Carrick have an excellent squad and have excellent facilities in Tom Drohan Park which get better every year. I fancy them to beat a stubborn Piltown outfit on Friday night - shud be decent game of ball been a local derby.
Due to Carrick Crystal and Tramore been involved in Fai games this weekend -only action is towards the middle and foot of the Premier league table in Waterford with the following games taking place Sun at 11am.
Johnville v Bohs
Dungarvan United v Villa
Hibs v St. Saviours
it will be interesting to see how Alan and Gerry Walsh, Kevin Keegan , Tony Reade, David Kelly go this evening all have played football at some level with carrick also mark o driscol played 2 seasons before, Alan Walsh has to potential to be a very good winger/striker his pace is unreal its a pity he is playing with piltown i would like to see him competing for a place with us. Gerry Walsh is a very underated player and will provide a stern test in midfield for piltown also tony Reade was one of the better centre halves in waterford a few years back.
Tramore v Glass
two good sides that are not in the best of form i see this going all the way to pens with derek scrubber hearn being the difference between the two sides
three even looking Prem games on this weekend . Would think Johnville too good for Bohs . Also Hibs to edge it v Saviours and have to go for Villa in Dungarvan.
If Bohs dont get a few results soon they will be facing 1st div football next season. My feeling would be that not many would be too disappointed if it happened.
Have a feeling Bohs could beat Johnville. Think the other two could be draws.
Johnville , Hibs to win and a draw between Dungarvan and Villa.
FAI Cup Result Tonight:
Piltown 2 - 4 Carrick Utd AET
carrick 4 piltown 2 after extra time. carrick took the lead from a sconnie walsh header from a corner just before half time. Gerry walsh equalised for piltown after about 55mins. His brother keith walsh then put carrick back into the lead in 75 mins. Carrick then had alan coady sent off on 80 mins. Piltown equalised from a penalty in injury time.Alan walsh had his spot kick saved by adrian walsh but he managed to bundle the rebound into the net. It was still level at half time in extra time but carrick were dominating with there extra fitness despite being a man down. The pressure finally told at the start of the second period when sconnie walsh got a goal from a knock on at a corner which was very similar to his first goal. Adam Mcsharry then finished piltown when he burst in from the right wing and buried the ball in the net with a right footed shot. Feature of the game were brothers gerry and keith walsh probably being the best players for there respective sides.
Any word on game tonight -will it go ahead(tramore v Crystal) and the league games 2moro due to weather. Just heard all schoolboy games including sfai cancelled today.
