Did you actually read what he said?
Which of the unsubstansiated claims by shams great defender do you mean ? That we sold part of the ground - untrue - or the claim that we engineered some deal with DCU to get round SCP - also untrue ?
have no problem debating any legitimate point raised but unfortunately find it difficult to debate made up nonsense that the same individual would not allow were the club anyone other than Bohs.
I've posted a newspaper article backing up what I said. You're splitting hairs over a technicality; that doesn't take away from the overall point. I expressly didn't claim that Bohs had an agreement with DCU; I merely posted that it had previously been posted (by a Bohs fan).
Edit of this post
To be fair to Fenlon, any club that hires him is basically signaling that it wants to spend lots of money. It's not like he goes around seducing chairmen with "**** me" eyes.
yeah more like "im gonna **** you" eyes, when you think about it. :)
sorry for defending my club in the past lads. Bohs is everything to me and it seems as though we are really screwed. Bad times. I was away for a few days and came back to this. Well, we'll soldier through this however long it takes and we'll be back at some stage.
Im not sure why you feel the need to ask me that but ill answer it anyway. I genuinely didnt know the full story. Im not a member. Ive never claimed to know it all but have tried to base my posts on what i knew or heard and i have made that clear on here in the past. I thought we had taken decent steps towards more prudent stewardship in the last year and was confident that we would turn things around. I knew it would involve more cutbacks and was prepared for that and welcomed it. I was worried but didnt know how much i should worry.
I agree with the Bohs people who say that they are relieved and that this is the beginning of the end of the rot. I am hopeful that the members will pull together and set the club back on track as the people at Cork, Derry and Rovers have done. It will be harder for us, probably, and could take a long, long time but it will be worth it in the long run.
Give your number 1 fan a call. He'll help you lot out.
:)
ah, i see where youre coming from. I thought you were basing it on what i had previously posted.
That as well. But it was your post that really asked the question.
Bottom line though - trust the sceptics. We're usually right in this league...
i did... this is what he told me...
Ezekiel, the dundalk fan, 25:17 - 'The path of the righteous club is beset on all sides by the inequities of the Shelbourne and the tyrannies of Shamrock Rovers. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepards the weak through the valley of darkness. For he is truly the Bowez keeper and finder of lost "children go free" initiatives. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy the Bowez. And you will know I am Delaney when I lay my vengeance upon you.'
no idea what the f*cker was talking about.
I was in the brian boru last night and a barman who claimed to be ITK about the gypo situation told me they've already started to prepare for bankruptcy and every player and staff member have been told they can leave for free if they get a chance, including the poison dwarf. Could have been bulsh*ttin though.
How about we nip this one in the bud right away so we can concentrate on on the topic at hand?
Fenlon took over a club that had lost out on the treble by 8 goals and come within 2 goals of a UEFA Cup group spot. He managed us to 3 wins in our first 15 league games of the 2007 season. To put that in context we'd finished second and joint first in our previous two seasons: basically, Fenlon just about managed to keep City out of the relegation zone.
And let's have a look at his signings shall we?
Dave Rogers (Shelbourne)- Left in June 2007 for Pats, later sacked by Dundalk for indecent conduct.
Karl Bermingham (Newry C) Left July 2007, now with First Division Monaghan United.
Kyle Moran (Free) Released July 2007, was with Pats, via Institute and Larne in the Irish League but released this season (see Dodge's post below)
Greg O'Halloran (Shelbourne) Made 6 appearances, currently with Cork City
Peter Hynes (Newry C) Made 13 apps, 1 goal for Derry. Loaned to UCD in July 2007 making 8 appearances, now with First Division Longford Town.
Alan Moore (Shelbourne) Joined Sligo Rovers in Feb 2008 but was released by them.
Ola Tidman (Free) Conceded 4 goals at home to Cork on his debut, now playing for IF Limhamn Bunkeflo 2007 in the Swedish league 3rd Division. Notable for making just about every City supporter's "Worst XI." Signed after he impressed Fenlon when on trial at Derry.
...but yeah, really he's just a scapegoat for our UEFA Cup/League/FAI Cup stars mystifying lack of form. Must have been something they ate...
You can call Fenlon the best manager in Ireland if you like, but playing the 'bitter' card when Derry fans discuss him is just ignorant
Id feel the same about Sean Connor, he is the one that handed out the big contracts to spoofers like Turner at Dalymount and its budgets from that season that have us in major trouble however at the end of the day its not Connors fault that he was handed that money.
That's right Ezeikial it's all the old boards fault and has nothing to do with what the new board did this season  Bohs now need to raise 400k to make it to the end of the year. Funnily enough if they had beaten TNS they stood to make around this figure from increased prize/TV/gate money in europe yet still clowns like comical marinobohs insist they didn't budget for european success. The old board spent a few million of Liam Carrolls money and ran up a debt of 7 million to win 4 titles in 10 years (bohs fans can judge if that has been money well spent or not) but the new board were supposed to come in this season and stop the overspending yet here we are six months into the season and they're struggling to find money to pay the wages. The new board have proven to be as clueless and foolish as the old one by gambling once more on the european dream. Instead of cutting back to a sustainable budget they outbid other clubs to sign 7 players at the start of the season relying on european money to pay for them. This after coming so close to failing to meet the SCP last year and relying on a heroic fundraising effort from the ordinary fans to bail them out. Bohs membership have gone along with all this and the ordinry fans like skstu here claim they didn't know the full extent. Bull**** - the dogs on the street knew bohs were scewed two years ago, there have been countless threads here and elsewhere. The accounts thread from last year should have woken every bohs fan up as to the reality of the situation but no they were blinded by the success on the pitch just like Shels fans were 5 years ago. No sympathy I'm afraid, you've been told over and over again to get off your arse and save your club but this is what the members did to those that raised doubts before it was too late http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...t-1448237.html
A few years in the doldrums is the least Bohs deserve after being so god damn stupid.
just a couple of things HH. I didnt know the full extent. I knew we were screwing ourselves season on season but didnt think that things would get so bad so fast. And yes, despite the cutbacks this year, it wasnt enough and the Board deserve to be slaughtered for gambling yet again.
Also, i dont think anyone associated with Bohs wants or needs your or anyone elses sympathy.
Its clearly not Fenlon or the players fault.
Fenlon does not set the budget.
Fenlons job is results not balance sheets, he is there to get every penny he can from the board in order to maximise the chances of success on the pitch.
The board are there to give him a budget that is sustainable no matter how much money he is looking for.
Its not a very complex system but what is clear is that Fenlon is not at fault.
The funny thing about this thread, is the sheer crass gloating going on by fans of other clubs, and this is why football in Ireland is treated like something you wipe off the base of your shoe. The Bohs board messed up, they'll have to fix it. Sligo Rovers board messed up, they got on with the job, Galway, Cork, Derry, Shels etc etc so many clubs over extending and somehow they struggle on. It's a shameful mess when our national champions get into financial trouble again, it makes our league look a complete joke, yet the glorying in others clubs misfortune just shows why we deserve the "government" (ie Delaney and clan) we get. If member clubs can't stick together and fans at least let the full facts come out, then it's best we scrap the league and go fully amateur, at least that way all the little boys in the schoolyard can bicker and fight without media giving a damn.
