You would have to say that............

Yes, yes I would!! Hard to beat him though Al, maybe you could name one, cos I'm struggling!
Enda Quaide, Robbie Broe, George Clancy, Trevor Hoare, Mike Kiely, Ryan McCann, Andrew Keogh, John Mc, T Muzar, Stephen Jordan (I may have missed one or two).......................all of the above are/were fine refs, and in all fairness, yes they make the odd mistake, but dont we all.
I have often given out about refs making poor decisions in the past, but I have always said two things about refs.
1. Without refs, we would have no football.
2. Its always only the losing team that complains about the ref (if your team are winning or win a game, then anyone could have reffed it and it wouldn't have made a difference).
Definitely nice to see Athlunkard doing well! They play Bruff on thur night so that should be a good game as I hear that Bruff are handy this season. Dromore seem to be having a nightmare but I fancy them to start picking up some points soon.
Predictions :
Athlunkard Villa 2-1 Bruff Utd, R Hennessy
Hospital 1-1 Herbertstown, P O’Brien
Pike B 1-2 Dromore, R Peiper
Caherconlish 1-0 Murroe, O Hayes
Knockainey 1-3 Cappamore, M O’Halloran
Hospital v Herbertstown (local derby), tough game for Hospital
1B is certainly a tough league this season. The points total for the winners could be lower than normal. With each team playing 20 games, 40 points could win the title. Any one of 6 sides could win it methinks.
Disagree with this a tad Al, I think even when winning, we can differentiate between good and terrible. I've often come off the pitch after hammering a team and thought the ref was shocking, but you tend to be a wee bit more vocal when you've just been smashed.. Easier than admitting your team is crap..
good shout on us lanky:
Athlunkard 2-1 Bruff
Bruff went ahead undeservedly after about ten mins, but dominated the rest of the half. Our keeper kept us in the game with some fantastic saves. Last kick of the first half was a penalty for us which was slotted home to take us in even at the break. We settled a lot better in the 2nd half and went ahead with a fine finish. Both teams created chances, with our keeper making more fantastic stops. We held onto possession very well and battled to win the 3 points against a team that will cause problems for anyone.
pike 3 dromore 0
Caherconlish 0-3 Murroe very poor peformance from Caherconlish to be fair not helped by having a definite goal chalked off at 1-0 ball clearly over the line even hit the top of the net madness ...even the murroe keeper admitted to us behind the goals afterwards but murroe fair is fair defended well and i think caherconlish were there own downfall with the midfield too far up givin rooney and the other lad up front no space to move ..Hopefully a better performance next time out
Knockainey 3 4 Cappamore Celtic
bruff just lost control completly in the 2nd half if they kept the ball as well they did in the 1st half this game would have been very diferent but both keepers played well at 1-0 bruff had 2 or 3 chances only for villa keeper to save them but well done a good match...oh and by the way very well refed for everyone giving out about the refs
saw most of athlunkard v bruff, and got to credit villa who were always trying to play good football even under pressure at times.improved certainly in the 2nd half as bruff were a handfull in the 1st half, and probably deserved a draw.on the villa keeper he made three top drawer saves while i was there and having seen him before is a much improved goalie.good win for pike there lads they look like they will be in contention.whats happening at caherconlish, thats two defeats now is it? and both at home i saw them v bruff recently thought they were quite poor.any result for hospital?

Just heard Hospital V Herbertstown finished a draw, not sure of the score.
It was though, wasn't it...
Pike 3-0 Dromore
Without ever really hitting top form we managed to run out convincing winners here, after a grind rather than an exhibition. Dromore were strong and well drilled but really offered no threat up front. We were 1up at half time after a superb header from Anthony Lee. Second half space opened up for us as legs got heavy and we added further goals from Mike Geary and Shane Keenen.(Not certain of that 2nd name). All round good team display by us, best on the night for me were Darren Duffy, James Doran and Mike Geary.
looks like the lish are getting found out with there tactics.... still a long way to go they will start to pick up points soon. how did hospital get on ??
i wudnt quiet agree with that the lish we have been creating lots and lots of chances but just havnt been converting them but that will come in time we have been behind in a few matches so had to push on and that always leaves you open we are confidant of getting back on track and hopefully have a say in the outcome of this division
herbertstown 0-1 Athlunkard last minute goal from player manager for 2nd sunday in a row
bruff 1 dromore 1
drumore went 1 up after a long free and a mistake by the bruff goalie dropped the ball to dromore players feet..scrappy game bruff got a goal from a long free and a header match continued to be scrappy with the ref loosing control of the game gave a free out when bruff were attacking for a high leg when dromore defender put his head down he was last man back surely would have resulted in a goal from this the ref booked a player and never realised the game was goin on he called back play and gave bruff the ball to give back to dromore bruff kicked ball to dromore goalie who was out by the peno spot ball was kicked back bounced outside the box the keeper made a awful attemp to catch it and hit it into his own net goal given... game was held up for atleast 5mins because players arguing bruff captain agreed to retake the kick goal scrapped...into the second half not many clear cut chances to many frees game getting very scrappy now bruff forward got sent off for a 2nd yellow for kicking out at a player who was dragging of him for 10yards..bruff held on for most of the 2nd half with 10 men and made a few chances with about 15mins left dromore left back head butted a player no attempt to go for ball he was heard telling the player he would get him next time the ball came and this was the result staright red..bruff had a half a chance in the dying mins with a ball over the top good run on to it but the volley went high..a point a fair result considering played most of the 2nd half with 10 men
murroe 1 pike 1 any other results
Cappamore 3 Caledonians 2
5 well taken goals and good match apart from the ref nearly booking everyone in the first half for harsh reasons and asking why a free was given. Caledonians pressed hard last 10 minutes but cappamore defended very well.
caherconlish 2 knockainey 2 hard fought game another missed peno for the lish with the scores level but this game could have gone either way so i guess both teams will be fairly satisified
Pike B 0-6 Knockainey
No excuses at all. We were dreadful to a man, they were spirited and determined and took their chances brilliantly when they came. Ref was excellent, pitch in great condition. Just a terrible day at the office for us. But its only one defeat and we'll learn from it and come back stronger.
Best for us the subs that didn't get a game.
Athlunkard 3 -3 Dromore
3 -1 up at half time then we decided not to defend. fair play to dromore they raised there game in 2nd half and wanted more.

an awful night for a game tight game up to ht a couple of errors in cals defence cost them but they played some nice football at times and kept going until final whistle nice to see us get back to winning ways we could really do with stringing a few back to back wins together
cappamore result anyone?
Hospital 2:3 Cappamore
bruff knockainey match off sunday!!!
Cals 2-3 B Pike
Hard fought 3 points for us this morning. We went one up after Anthony Lee's superbly struck free went in with the aid of a slight deflection. 1 up at half time we then gave away a soft equaliser with Darren Duffy putting into his own net after a Cals shot was directed goalwards. Little he could have done about it. We regained the lead shortly after, a great ball up the line by Dermot Phelan was seized upon by Mark Phelan, who crossed for me to finally break that duck*.... We then went further ahead when I was taken down in the box and Dave Maloney slotted home. As usual we made it hard for ourselves conceding in the last ten minutes to give Cals hope, but we hung on for the win. Best for us, Craig Slattery, Anthony Lee and Mark Phelan.
