Best of luck to him. Very good player and I will be sad to see him go. 2 year contract will be rare these days in the LOI so I don't blame him for snapping it up. If we can hang on to Daly I won't mind so much as both are very similar players
must say this shows our intent for next year. delighted to have him back, gloves and all:)Quote:

Great news anyway, smashing player. Is this the end of Ryan's spell with the club?
Congrats on a great signing.2 year contracts a bit of a gamble though in the current climate.
Steal of the 2010 season!!!!
One day we were talking about Rovers signing Glen Crowe, then we sign Chris Turner a day later!
Turner was looking for serious money to go to Rovers, would assume he didnt come cheap to Sligo.
Good player, really sorry to see him go, but he was only on a 12 mth contract with us, so we cant complain.
Yes, sounds promising for Sligo, a few more and top 4 might not be beyond them the way the lge is shaping up.
Great signing by Sligo - it shows great ambition.
Although it's going to knock a big hole in the 2010 budget - even on the presumption that he does not get full wages in the off-season next year, its likely to cost in the region of €50k to €60k next year alone.

Dundalk FC are pleased to announce that Peter Cherrie has agreed contract terms to end of season 2010. Contract negotiations with other players are on-going, and further confirmations are anticipated in the weeks ahead.
I'll start a transfer thread when the 2 leagues become clear
Ye but we know something you dont know regards the new manager ;) Hence why Cherrie resigned
Your post does not make much sense to me.
It's pretty much the norm for clubs to have players on their books when a manager is appointed.
The possibility that the club may have consulted with their preferred candidate(s) about this or other signings may also have escaped you.
If your last point is true then that's fair.
I don't think that Cherrie was very likely to be snapped up in the period that you're recruiting your new manager. Similar situation happened with us with the board signing Fenn (on ridiculous wages) just before Sean Connor took over. Fenn didn't fit our system at all and was a disaster that season. I know it's not so much the case with a keeper but I the point still applies.
ndo done deal seemingly
I take it that sligo have plenty of cash again as if they are signing them now on full time contracts the players obviously have to be paid through the off season. Where is all the money coming from?
Ndo was on a pay as you play contract with Bohs if i remember correctly. I hope Rovers have tied him down to a similar deal or else he may go missing for large portions of the season.
The minimum of 75k from the cup final, our europe money, top 5 finish , great recent gate reciepts for a bottom half club and a very astute treasurer is a help.
Next seasons budget wont be much bigger than this seasons.
The same amount of money will go much further.
We dont have to cut back like other clubs because we werent paying big wages to a big squad in the first place.
Lots of clubs have imploded around us and this has left us in a decent position by sitting back and holding our own
While I must say I am delighted to see the ambition of our club with these new signings, I am nervous regarding the financial side of things.
Time will tell.
Really interesting to see Sligo making 2 great signings before there season is finished at all. They could be a really strong side in the league next season if they can sign any more players of Ndo's and Turners quality .
joeys gone :(
