We need a striker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need a striker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
goal for sligo!
I feel it coming.
had our chances again just not good enough and again ogrady doing something stupid getting himself sent off
If only.....
Thanks for the stream BooBoy/sligofella
Hard Luck Lads
From what ive read on justin, Albanian fans are downright rude, arrogant, ignorant and pathetic. Someone goes to the trouble of putting up a live stream and thats the thanks he gets ? jesus some of the worst fans ive ever come across. We had plenty of shots but it was the first leg all over again really :(. Ah well Boco was more lively and dangerous but atleast we didnt get hammered like some people have mentioned (not on these boards) I couldnt beleive Conor O' Grady's stupidity with that sending off but it looks like the frustration got to him. Lets just put this behind us and roll on Sunday. But atleast Rovers can leave this game with dignity knowing they put a on a decent performance.
Enough chances to get it to extra time at least, if Feeney had knocked it in from 3 yards before we did score it could have been so different.......coulda woulda shoulda, over the two legs a great opportunity lost.
As said earlier if only we had a striker.
Now back to getting away from the bottom of the table!!
Anyone else gonna lump on Rapid Vienna?
Have to agree with above,Conor was silly wasted up the last 2/3 minutes for us.thought they played well enough, still no fire power up front and its costing us.thought their goal was soft enough. They had time wasting down to a fine art even the ballboys stop throwing in the footballs towards the end.Thats what I hate about the contenential game the diving the rolling around and the refs still fall for it.
Shame about the result,Vienna would have been a nice earner!
Can you not see the stickied 5 page long thread?
Credit to all who travelled too, ye created a great atmosphere and could be heard throughout the game.
Fair play to anyone that travelled and it took nearly nine hours to travel from Croatia to Albania. They were cat but scored the same goal as the Showgrounds running and no tackles. Jaysus but I thought they would never score, it could of been ten two and Keane had great chance to sidefoot an opener at the end. Feeneys miss was worse though from two yards.
Well done to the travelling supporters.
We blew it in the first leg, hard to believe that they won with about three or four shots on goal in the two matches combined.
the important thing now is to refocus on the league. We also have the league cup and the FAI cup. Come on the bit o red
Just wanted to say well done to all the lads who travelled over to the game. Sang all game and done the club proud, my brother watching at home could hear you all game he said.
Never usually stand amongst the singing crowd until today.
On the game, it was there for the taking. We had enough chances but just couldn't convert, can't help but think if Morrison was on the pitch longer it would have been a different result. He was great when he came on and got a good few crosses in while on the pitch. Have to focus on the league now.
Had a bit of trouble leaving the ground, got spat at outside the place they call a stadium and my girlfriend got grabbed and pushed by a guy in a baseball cap for no reason at all. If we weren't in fecking Albania i would have laid the bitch out.
I am gutted tonight. I genuinely thought we would get through this tie. Nothing that I saw of the Albanians will convince me that they are any better than us. This is a missed opportunity to progress and make a bit of money for the club.
Am I only one beginning to feel that Cookie is an unlucky manager when it comes to cup competitions, missed penalties, OG's, crap penalty shoot outs, injuries to players at key times....I could go on.
Onwards to Sunday, a win against Cork really would be a good tonic.
Apart from the Europa League he's finally gotten it right in the cup competition and hopefully if the Setanta Cup goes ahead we can only hope for a good run. I know this was about a week ago, but did I read correctly that Cook wants to commit his short term future to Sligo Rovers and see where it takes him or something along those lines ?
I take it you mean that in the gangsta rap sense, if not your a serious wife beater Boo boy?:D
The boys sounded great. I was watching it online and you could hear them singing up the whole way through.
As I said after the first leg, they are sh*te but the harsh reality is the result and that doesn't lie. We came up short and it's a pity.
The performance from the players was very good, just lacked that killer touch up front, if Sligo could have a decent front man, they could have won that game quite easily.
The game might have been much different, if that Albanian defender was sent off early in the game and ref gives a free out !, shocking ref, up there with the worst decisions ever imo. Not only that, he fails to give clear free kicks for either side through the whole game.
Those Albanians like hitting out at players, first the goalie, than that defender and the striker late in the game, dirty dirty side.
gutted after a 7 hour trip to a dump!we should have bet these they were poor, and people complain our ground is bad, this place is a state!1 toilet for men and women no shop, fair play to the team who gave us a case of water, the seats were falling apart, police every where had to get a police escort out of the dump.you wouldn't put animals in the place.
Conor O Grady will have to learn to think a little more before he acts, just senseless getting sent off and losing vital time during the process. Not sure how many times he has been suspended but with a squad as thin as ours he needs to cop himself on, he already had a card from the first game which shows he is prone to stupid moments.
should have won the two legs, the place was a kip couldnt wait to get outta it. it took us 9 hrs to travel down to it. have to say found the fans ok but wonder what they would have been like if we beat them. its like a 3rd world country there. people searching in bins for empty cans. cheap spot though in fairness but it would need to be to get anyone to go to it. well done to the team we could not fault them for effort and cookie came out to hotel bar before game to chat the fans and give updates. well done to all the support as well belive me 14hrs travelling in a bus in one day and going into shkoder is unbelievable effort.
Was at the game last night and p$$$$d off with the result, threw it away at home. I thought Ventre was our best player last night, Steve Feeney done well despite a terrible miss. Mad journey down took the guts of 9 hours only 5 on the way back. Getting back to the game gutted to go out to them as they were no good, but lost the tie in the SHowgrounds, hopefully we can have a good second half of the season.
did anyone notice how the fella that scored against us ran into the advertising as he celebrated?

Frustrating stuff last night. We were knocked out by a poor team and we played much better than them in both legs. As has been said, we threw it away in the Showgies. Certain players aren't near fit enough, Keane, Feeney, Ventre all done for pace at times last night, although in saying that, Ventre did play brilliant. But the fitness levels really should be something that's looked at and improved on. Such a long trip down and it was just wasted then with being knocked out by a very poor side, very disappointing. Referee was absolutely brutal, he wouldnt be out of place in the LOI. Vllaznia were diving all night and Rovers were right not to give the ball back to them after their repeated actions. Vienna will hammer them in the next round...and rightfully so, they deserve it!
Shkoder's an awful kip.
Some mental lyrics in the music in that clip
Still, it's funny because he hurt himself.
Its beyond me how they always got away with it last night. I think its laughable that they have to bring on 2 physio's and at one point another 2 surrounding a player and always take the player off on a stretcher, absolutly no point as they got up as soon as they came off. Either these players break like twigs or are just trying to waste time. Another decision made by the referee was stupid, only minutes after the game kicked off Raff got a deliberate elow to the face and that player didnt even get a yellow card! frustrating stuff but we have to move on from this and hope for a good second half of the season.

It’s emerged that various missiles and plastic bottles were among the items thrown at Sligo Rovers’ players during last night’s Europa League match in Albania.
Reports emanating from supporters today who were at the game suggest a number of the Rovers players were targeted by the KS Vllaznia fans.
It has also emerged that missiles were thrown at Sligo Rovers captain Conor O’Grady, as he was sent off, in what’s been described as a very hostile atmosphere.
Rovers drew the game, 1-1, but lost the tie on aggregate by 3-2.
The place was a kip a real strange atmosphere around the city. Before the game their capo came over to shake our hands then at the end of the game they were giving us cut throat gestures. The ref most have been bought off or something.
Good bit of the match can be found here.
If anyone want's the match let me know, my brother e-mailed me the recording of the game and i can upload it to rapid share or something if someone want's it. Albanian commentary and the 15 mins of DigitALB ad's at half time are still in there..
Mole.
I would hardly call the atmosphere intimidating, they just sang when they scored, I was pretty surprised by that.
As for the bottles and chairs thrown at O'Grady, it was a very very bad tempered game thanks to the cheating scumbags of Vllaznia but tbh you would get more trouble at a shams or bohs game.
There was an element of hostility among some of their fans but over all they were nice and even clapped us out of the stadium.
And just one more thing, MOLE!!!.
moley, moley, moleeey, moleeeey,moleeeeeeeey
What the hell..
