Sligo Rovers 0 - 3 Salthill Devon
According to rumours on our forum, we have been kicked out of the league
EDIT: Not a rumour, confirmed. Presumably our results will be expunged
heard that aswell
Having just had a quick look at the licensing documents, the requirement is that you have 2 underage teams between 15 and 20.
Chances are GUFC can just convince someone to affiliate and get by that way.
We're such a shambles.

Table subject to outcome of an appeal. If appeal fails Salthill Devon will have 14 points and Mervue United will be top with 15 points. The top 2 in each pool progress to the quarter finals of this competition. This makes Mondays night's game between Salthill Devon and Mervue United crucial. Kick off is at 7:30pm in Drom and all support would be greatly appreciated.
This was taken off salthill devon's website http://www.salthilldevon.ie/index.asp.
The appeal refers to Galway United I presume, who according to our forum, have lodged an appeal against being thrown out of the U-20 League
why where Galway thrown out in the first place?
Mervue 4 0 Sligo Rovers
Sligo down to 10 players after 30min.
we had a man sent off for nothing after about half an hour, we were on top until that, creating better chances, about 5 mins later the referee awarded a very dubious free kick on the edge of the area, he told the mervue players to wait for the whistle and said it to our players too, they took it quick though and scored. referee didnt bring it back.
linesman wasnt in line with the ball for their 3rd, a good 5 yards away from where he should have been to see if the ball crossed the line.
galway referees are a total joke. everytime we go down theres hassle. there totally arrogant when approached aswell
Mervue Utd 4 - 0 Sligo Rovers
Just letting you know CF1989 that it was not a Galway ref, he and the linesman on the dugout side were from the midlands
Linesman on the far side was from Galway who had no influence on the game as the 3 2nd half goals were scored down the far side of the pitch
The player got sent off for hitting a Mervue lad off the ball, linesman was 10 yards away
fair enough they wern't from galway. i was right beside the incident, the 2 players got tangled together, both fell to the floor, the rovers player fell on top of the mervue player and the linesman said he swung his elbow at him. he definatly did not. he just fell on top of him, completely accidental.
Fair enough, i didnt see it but if they tangled like you said they did maybe the Sligo lad ran or walked accross the Mervue lad and it may have looked from where the linesman was an elbow in the face when they may have accidently clashed together at the same time
trust me, i was right beside it. mervue lad won the tackle, then they both fell over and our player just fell on top of him. definatly not an elbow in the face. tried talking to the ref after but got the usual walk away or you'll get the same approach
did they play an ineligable player or were they just not fulfilling all their fixtures i thought?
I heard a story about Galway stopping their bus in Lifford and picking up locals to play against Derry City... so there might be a bit of truth in that assumption.
The bus stopped on the side of the street and asked random youths if they would be interested in playing a bit of football ?
As I heard it, one of the GU coaches was from Donegal and had some connections so was able to pick up locals.
Wouldn't be 100% on it obviously.
sligo rovers v finn harps at 2pm on sunday.
Sligo Rovers 1-4 Finn Harps.
castlebar v sligo rovers wednesday night
Salthill Devon vs Mervue Utd tonight at 7.45pm
its hard we have alot of injuries and players missing, and still have a young side. performance was unacceptable though, especially after the first half an hour. hopefully we'll make up for it in the last 3 games!
Salthill 2-0 Mervue
Good game last night. Two excellent teams, Mervue had a really strong spell before and after half time, but failed to score, and Salthill's second goal was one of the best I've seen in ages. Both teams have to play Finn Harps and Derry, with Mervue needing to beat Derry at the w/e to maintain a viable chance of progressing.
