The manager is more important than the budget Cook has proved he can operate on a small budget and will get the best out of the current players I heard of clubs paying 18k a week last year to get relegated. The current sytem is stupid you try and keep your best players by offering reasonable contracts and job security then the FAI decide to knock a lump of the budget and leave very little room for new players withut have to re-negoiate with the current squad there should be some kind of independent arbritation to rectify rows between clubs and FAI.
BTW a player I know has been offered a deal by Sligo of €1k a week. If he's getting that you can be sure the likes of Peers etc are on a good deal more. That would mean some players at Sligo on very little if they're aiming for a budget of 10k per week
Maybe your budget is more than 10k? It wouldn't be like your board to lie to you, would it? ("were going out of business" "No actually we made a profit" "We need 60k or he's off")
Sligo have allegedly offered Alan Keane €1,000 a week and have been in contact with him while he was in Australia on Holidays. There has to be serious questions asked of the MC in Sligo or are the fans just going to say no problems as long as Cokkie is back.
Bury your heads in the sand lads but there are definitely serious questions to be asked by the fans before ye end up like all the clubs it couldnt have happened to before.
He wouldn't be due to re-negogiate his contract by any chance ? Find it hard to believe we would pay a player of his quality that much , he is probably spinning to get a better deal from ye I would call his bluff. BTW Boco is highest paid player at rovers and his package is not massive by any means in comparison to some of the numbers quoted on here and what some players were on last season , to put things into context Faz was offered a record breaking 1400 a week to stay last year but Drogs were offering 2000 and an apartment and BTW still owe 10k of the transfer fee which we have kindly deferred.
it seems that galway and harps supporters have a problem with sligos success on and off the pitch. Jealousy, the green eyed monster. Good supporters who are willing to help out when finance is needed is what makes sligo rovers the great club that it is and the top club in the region.
We can only pay what the fai allow, so stop WUMMING.
There's no talking to these people...
bloody hell and you wonder why the fai have to control your finances
finn harps have more chance of going bankrupt than sligo rovers.
recent quote from your chairman
“Let it be very clear that if sufficient funds are not raised in the timeframe previously outlined this will create significant problems for Finn Harps. I again appeal to the public to support our fundraising efforts by purchasing Apartment Draw tickets, donating to the Friends of Finn Harps, purchasing Season Tickets and supporting the club Lotto. The future of Finn Harps depends on the support of the public.”
Sam, i think you should be more worried about your miserable first division club with a very bleak future than a progressive club which its fans can be proud off and can compete on a sporting level.
Enjoy another year of Paul Hegarty rubbish while sligo rovers play premier division, europa cup, setanta cup with players that are proud to wear our jersey. Not like them mercenaries that i saw masquerading as footballers in blue and white in finn park and the showgrounds last year. an embarrassment.
LOL
Its your own fans that are claiming you've only 14 players, and your own fans claiming you need more money for players
Now this guy is trying to say they're NOT mercenaries
Dodge, no offence but youve brought up pride. How can you comment on our players pride issues for our club, unless you know them and talk regularly with them that is.
sligored brought up pride
Laughable if you think the likes of Peers and Boco have anything other than professional pride when playing.
blah blah blah blahhh
Everyone stop bitching.
Ye signed (or are signing the other one) 2 of the players you seen in the blue and white last season and also tried signing another one :p
Also, if you think Owen Morrison is going to show pride in the jersey then good luck to you.
I look forward to June when ye going crying wolf again, maybe this time won't be a sick plot to wrangle hard earned money from yer fans and fans might not be as keen to help out next time.
