you prove my point even more:rolleyes:
As for Belfast Celtic reforming, never gonna happen.
Clintonville and Derry city are two proud clubs, why would a Derry fan travel to Belfast for a home game?????. Belfast Celtic are now immortalised, let them keep their legend intact. Even Donegal Celtic reforming isn't an option as it has its own tradition now.
Now let’s see if davros can dissect this in the usual anti-unionist xenophobia that we are accustomed too.
Sylvo. Agreed. I love your badge, makes me think of that horse's head scene in the Godfather. Or was it the French Connection?
Liam. Also agreed. Nothing wrong with off-topics, but when they develop into little more than tit-for-that, private email's better. I'm sure my multi-lingual amigo Lopez would concur.
Everyone. Snide references to others' spelling and typography are a bit silly, eh? Particularly when also a hostage to fortune. Shall we agree to decommissioning them?
Bring on the Norse!
BB. Your post ratio of .5 posts per day to my .84 is a better guide than post numbers. Not bad for a NI fan on a RoI site until you see DG's amazing .85 ppd.
DG. I concur.
Sylvo. Do you reckon it was a racehorse that waylaid you last week? Shergar Burgers were all the rage in '83.
Liam & BB: Belfast Celtic reforming would make no sense as Belfast (like Dublin) seems top heavy with teams. But I still think that Donegal Celtic should take the 'Belfast' name and whoever it is holding the rights is being a bit of a dog in the manger type. Donegal Celtic have been around long enough to have a history but the name does suggest that the team plays in Buncrana or Lifford.
we'll agree on that point then:D
how ever the 'Donegal' in the name does not refer to the county per say, but to the street names around the area of west belfast were donegal celtic play, these were named after the areas that the migrants coming into belfast came from, so continuing their own herritage.
Incidently it was my impression from the fact that a Coleraine fc badge is available as a symbol to the left, that this site is a 'football on this island' site and not exclusively R.o.I., but if you want to hound me off this site for stating my opinions then that is a sad reflection on yourself.
Come on now lad's chill out.

DG funny enough when they first came up with the badge I thought the very same thing. It was indeed the godfather, it was the scene where Tom Hagen played by Robert Duvall went to hollywood to put a bit of pressure on the director who would'nt give the part in a movie to Vito Corleone's godson and when he said no he woke up with his beloved horse, head only though.
Dg if yer think the badge is cool then you should join me and Lopez in the pilgramige to station road Newbridge or as i call it the stadio via stazionie we're going to plan when the fixture's are published to see Ireland's newest team.
Lopez i don't know what the hell waylaid me, even the docter's were confused, I think it could be a case for Maulder and Scully. But still the docter's done me a favour and signed us off, so i can further my recovery @ lansdowne on wednesday night.:D
No, no, no! :rolleyes:Quote:

My point is that the site is mainly RoI, not that it doesn't cover the North. And don't start that chip-on-me-shoulder cojones. I'm not trying to hound you off here, just because I've engaged a few Northerners for 1. Publishing a pack of lies on a third rate forum about the FAI (if he said they were a bunch of two-bit morons I might have agreed) . 2. Coming on here and accusing me of reading this paper and that paper and having done this tour and that tour. 3. Calling me a bigot (we'll leave the homosexual slurs alone as I'm always of the opinion that you shouldn't knock what you haven't tried) 4. Calling me a fascist. As my esteemed friend Sylvo says: Chill.:p
This must be the longst active thread ever. Can we all just agree
Cliftonville are great.
Derry are whinging ****s.
Coleraine are fascists.
Planters out.
That is all.

all this talk about belfast celtic is a fantastical and idealist notion, if it were the case would you rename linfield belfast rangers, i doubt it.
Would it make any difference? :DQuote:

If you insist on being so anally retentive you should at least make sure your grammar is correct.
I have corrected it for you

Oh and DG, the post about the NI managers religion, well the way i read it i assummed it was about Sammy Mac, hence my reply. I know Gerry Armstrong is the NEW assistant, as he's a cousin of my father. Ah wel can't have everything can you.
Just reading a few of the original posts on this thread, and 1 caught my eye from gspain.
Actually Linfield are from South Belfast and i believe always have been. Linfield is actually an area around Sandy Row, and i believe they were founded by workers from the Linfield Mill.Quote:
West Belfast does have a side in the top flight - Linfield. Maybe their MP should go to a few games and meet his constituents.
Hard to say really ;)Quote:

We started off asking people whether Belfast Celtic should reform and at the moment are in a sem-secaterian flame-war. The threads been running a long while and has past through topics including Irish (and British ;) ) history and.....curry
Liam it's just booted off on the general football discussions between the lot of them again, title uk team, try and calm them down, they might listen to you:eek:
Apparently Donegal Celtic took only 20-30 away fans to a top of the table clash away to Bangor in January. People seem to be over estimating their support.
There would be a massive surge in 'celtic' fans for big games such as linfield however, we just have to look at these glory hunters who follow cliftonville to big matches wearing glasgow celtic shirts , flying glasgow celtic flags and singing glasgow celtic songs, nothing what so ever with supporting cliftonville.
I see no need for either Rangers or Celtic tops at Irish league venues, those who do, do so, in my opinion only to provoke a reaction from opposing fans and to conduct their bigotry in a public manor. It serves no means to further their particular ‘cause’ whatever it may be, far from it, it has the opposite effect, it tarnishes the reputation of those particular clubs affected, and alienates the true supporters of those clubs who detest these leaches.

I could point out the Glory Hunters at the IC Final last season, you had over 4000 there. Where are they now? Plenty of Rainjurs tops on show as well, so basically sort your own house out 1st before you get at others.
Tell me this what Celtic songs do cliftonville sing? The odd rendition of you'll never walk alone, but that's it.

More like 10 away fans Tommy, DC don't have a great home support, nevermind any away support. Also DC like to go out their way to get offended. A DC board member took exception to a bangor supporter Bangor Loyal flag and deemed it sectarian, the flag in question was a NI flag with the words Bangor Loyal on it, hardly offensive unless of course you go well out of your way to be offended.
look at my other post before spitting your dummy out, cliftonville was my example:rolleyes:Quote:

A topic regarding the 'superstripes' has not come up yet to contribute.
My interest in this site is to widen my horizons regarding eirecom league teams, I read their forums but hardly ever contribute in them.
There must be a topic about Coleraine that we can all discuss and perhaps allow Davros to leave his 'unionist baggage' at home. Things can't be that quiet! :)Quote:

Any topic regarding CFC at the moment circle around our current financial situation, and its been done to death about us one minute going bankrupt, the next we have a sugar daddy bailing us out and the best one i have heard is that we would be forced to reform and start in the junior leagues again, i can't see the irish league kicking out the team with possibly the 4th biggest support in it.
Our ground isn't in too bad a state either, much the same as many other grounds in both the irish and eircom leagues ( I will refrain from the word stadia ).
So its not too bad, all we need is to get those supporters who follow teams in England and Scotland to start going to Local games and we should see an upturn in the fortunes of all the clubs on this Island. ( easier said than done )
Actually I saw a couple of threads a while ago about Linfield fans complaining about Coleraine's sectarian chanting.Quote:
