The only time I cried for an international was after the defeat to Belgium in the World Cup qualification play-offs in 1997. I was 12.

yeh got watery eyes after McLoughlin's goal in Belfast. That was a great night.

Also, the game v Wales in Croke Park was an emotional event.

I reckon I'll cry if we qualify for South Africa. Eight years of frustration will shed!:D

Spain 02 - worst cause i was older. There was very few dry eyes in the pub i watched it in that day.

I've never cried as far as I can remember but the worst I've ever felt was after the Spain game in the World Cup. I was close to tears for that game and was incredibly depressed for a long time afterwards. The Belgian game was pretty bad too.

Italy beating us in 1990 having attended the Egypt,Holland and Romania games I was just back home to witness our finest night in the last 8. Still great memories aswell. Spain in 02 was also a bad one having consumed lots of various drinks that game like the Romania game drained me but the outcome was so different. Best moment for me was the home game against Holland with a nice touchline seat at Lansdowne the stuff of dreams.

Ireland 0-0 Swiss landsdowne road 2005. Was Teary eyed. Very much so!! My face was spread across Front Page of Sun page 3 of mirror, metro, bbc sport website sunday world etc etc. My face said it all. Headline was. THE END OF OUR WORLD!!!

not qualifying for the last few euros hurt bad, but didn't cry, I did however cry a lot like many, after the spain game 2002. That was a hard day.

Every time Stan stood up to make a substitution.

Lansdowne, attendance about 13,000 if I remember right, a Weds afternoon, no floodlights in those days, Wales won 1 - 0 and as previous post Southall broke his leg, the rest is history:D

My reaction was the exact same.

I felt bad about it after the fact because it happened to be my sisters birthday, June 16th! And it was even earlier here in the U.S. I collapsed on the bed, because I didn't know what else to do with myself. I fell asleep for most of the day, missed the dinner, and pretty much all the festivities. What a bitter experience it all was. Surely the one that got away.
