Cheers L37Ultra.
Bit like this fella then. :D
I appreciate the chap can't be named yet, but is he someone the rest of us might know, or are we going to be slightly disappointed when we hear who it isn't.

It seems to me that Jebus came up with a cunning plan to make the Newbees look like fools. Ha, not me, you'll never catch GenericusernameXI Jebus!!!
All of this sounds like good news to me, except that the Leader (why oh why is it always the Leader) alluded to the possibility that the AmericanJesus may appoint a CEO to oversee the running of the club. If that is the case, then we can hardly be too hopeful and I'd imagine we might see a familiar name or two on the list of candidates.
Also, if you want to interest an american in football you DO NOT take him to a rugby game, you bring him paintballing/skydivin and tell him he can expecte more of the same evry Friday night when the season starts. :)
Good point Inexile.
As it stands I presume we start from zero. It's great that the debts are cleared but remember we had no debts at the start of last season also and look what happened !
As I stated earlier surely we need some starting capital with which to start the campaign and pay a salary to players and Manager. Jebus It does seem that a CEO will be appointed by the Yank ok.
Also What has happened to the co-operative effort behind last season with all local groups backing the whole thing? Is this still in place after the recent LDMC debacle ? Or are we now standing alone? One of the major plus points of last year for me was the whole "Soccer Limerick" and unity,in the main, that was shown for the first time between junior & senior soccer.
Is this all over now? A lot of unanswered questions yet for me to jump up and down. I appreciate this was the last hope but why did it come to this and have we sold out too early. I Really dont know !
John
I presume this is rhetorical, we're up to our ears in debt!!! What are we selling out? The club just lost its investor, so we (may have) got(en) a new one. As far as I can tell, this was the only way we were going to make it to the start of the new season.
Also, if the decision is taken to wipe the debt and to try not to incur any further debt then that's for the better. I'd rather have a few bland seasons than have each one end in a financial and managerial crisis. Although whether bad football is better than no football.......
Fair Point re the rhetorical question.
The Gun is really to our head but Limerick and bland aren't two words that are normally used together in the same sentence !!
Well this is an unexpected turn of events.
Looks like his interest is official anyway, the FAI have it on their site: McCarthy takes over at Limerick37.
All hail Mack the Knife!
A bit melodramatic don't you think John
I mean for one this implies we had some credibility in the first place.
The Limerick 37 name isn't worth getting worked up over IMO
This time last year we were going to be Polski Limerick or some nonsense FFS.
Also, I don't see how your point about starting off with a clean slate last year is any way relevant to the new setup??
There's a fine line between caution and down right pessimism*
*To give you your due it's a line I wouldn't blame any Blues fan for having crossed long ago :)
Hi LTID:
My point on the 37 thing is from a merchandise point of view .I am in full agreement with you on the credibilty thing !!!
The Clean slate refers to the fact that the club need not have been put in a position where it required a takeover by anybody.Plus maybe it just me but I kinda liked the community thing and "Soccer Limerick" vibe.
The losses this year were self inflicted and could have been avoided. Do you not agree ?
All the best
John
I genuinely don't know if this is as big a deal as you're making out man. Limerick gear is Limerick gear, I've still been known to wear my old F.C stuff to games :)
Of course it needn't and it shouldn't have.Quote:

Some of the figures I've heard around the place are pretty disgusting.
But it has been.
In fairness John we both know that this is dead in the water for reasons which shant be gotten into on an internet message board.Quote:

It's a crying shame I agree with you.
But then there's no use crying over spilt milk :)
Agree 100%Quote:

But they were self inflicted and they weren't avoided.
I understand your concerns man but at the moment we're beggars who can't afford to be choosers so I'm going to row in behind it for a couple of weeks at least :)
All points well made boy !!!
Kinda have to agree with you all round we will give it a few weeks so !!! ...When does this world "Saccer" series begin anyway ?
Come on the Limerick 37'ers...There we go... kept the old name and all !

The most interesting part of the nite (for me:p) is that I now think John Delaney wears a wig! Time for bed methinks:o
True, though iv seen some of his merchandise ideas and am not impressed with the new hat and polo shirt combo.

What does this "taking over in principle" thing mean?
Is he taking over or not?
Heres a better picture :D http://www.limerickleader.ie/3420/Mc...ted.3697064.jp
