It was obvious that if we screwed up in the last game against Cyprus, Stan would go by "mutual consent". It was also obvious that if we won by 5, Stan would still be the manager despite the misgivings all around the place.

I think the appointment by Delaney of the "football people" is both devious and sensible. It takes the blame game away from the FAI for the future if things don't go well and if it does go well, the appointment was ratified by the FAI. No lose situation and John D keeps his job.

The only problem is that there are a lot of dumb "football people" out there. Imagine Paul Merson and Chris Kamara picking the new manager :D

As a said before on this. This is coming from a toe rag so to behonest I would not pay much heed to Tony "Double Life" Cascarino.

Well at least he was honest about it...it turned out he was eligible to play for ireland in the end anyway...

He allegedly cheated on his wife according to himself.. allegedly hence he got divorced and is now with the other woman allegedly according to himself. :D

I heard he was appointed Irish manager with no previous managerial experience, given a 4 year contract, lost 5-2 to Cyprus and beat San Marino with a last minute goal but you wouldn't want to believe all these wild rumours you hear ;)
