Both those organisation distribute the vast majority of tickets through member clubs, the lifeblood of the organisation. Most of the FAI block bookers wouldn't know where their nearest senior or junior club is (Glasgow or Manchester?) and put nothing into Irish football other than supporting the senior international team.

Many rugby clubs sell part or all of their allocation to fund their operation, but they do so willingly after a vote by members. I'm lucky that my club don't and I get tickets along with lots of others who regularly attend club fixtures. This is perfectly equitable in my mind.

From an admin point I view I also get the order form for the tickets 6 months in advance and get the actual ticket a month ahead of games. Not the usual Merrion Square shambles.

Well the FAI home ticketing policy is actually excellent (OK, Croke Park setting was a bit of a mess but ins-ins).

You cant compare it to the GAA and IRFU policies. I know of countless people who have gone to GAA games for their respective counties only to be left with nothing (or paying €500) for a ticket for the final whilst countless corporates go for the one game a season. Rugby is just a big corporate love-in as far as I can see and the smaller clubs tout their allocation.

Ok, away games could be done better but I couldnt complain with the FAI regarding home ticketing. (Miles ahead of british clubs. LFC is a mess and tickets constantly go missing in post etc).

There is no need for tickets to be sent out a month before a game. The week of the game is fine (unless people are touting their tickets).

Note: By supporting the senior international side people are putting something back into football in this country. Something called money. The senior international games are the single biggest football earner in this country.

What about supporters clubs who have to distribute tickets onwards to members?

I don't agree with that.

I have 10 tickets on behalf of a supporters club to get to people for the match. Out of my allocation I have one person in Mullingar, one in Dublin and three in Athlone and I live in Limerick so getting tickets the week of the match is no good to me as it would mean meeting up with everyone in Dublin the day of the match which isn't possible everytime due to my personnal committments.

So just because people want them early doesn't mean they are touting.

As of today I still havent received my tickets either and can't get through to the ticket office:mad:

I was referring to tickets for general block booking members. Supporters clubs affiliated to football clubs should get tickets delievered early to allow for distribution.

I support my local childhood team. Would you prefer me to jump ship, randomly cloose and irish club and start pretending I understand the roots and heritage of the club?

I do think the FAIs ticketing policy is quite fair and if you are a genuine fan, usually you can pick up tickets for the games, although I have had to pay over the odds for a few games in the past. Ive been on the waiting list for at least 4 years, got an application for the games in croker which the fai 'lost' so never got allocated any for these games. Im not sure what the story will be when we go back to LR, id imagine the existing BB list will be offered extra tickets and the surplus will go the waiting list but im not that hopeful that the majority on the WL will get sorted.

Was thinking of buying the ten year tickets at one stage, but its hard to justify them at €7.5k, at most we'd have 5/6 home games a year, so works out at well over €100 a game!!

Was assured that the arrangment for Croke Park was for Croke Park only. If the new LR was going to be the same arrangement the waiting list will not move one iota
