Take a look at the San Marino debacle. When they scored have a look at Keane's reaction before Ireland kicked off again. Look at it and tell me that's a man with a bad attitude.
Robbie Keane seems like he just wants to play football. He's always been like that at Spurs. When he stormed down the tunnel after a game in Birmingham it was because of frustration at not getting on the pitch. You hear Martin Jol talk about him. None of the people that work with him have ever questioned his attitude.
He is very humble; he never celebrates against his former teams. Didn't he allow Leeds to delay paying him money when they were in the ****.
He moans at referees? Didn't another Mr R Keane make a habit of that, and once come close to assaulting a ref, but he's lauded to the rafters for being passionate?
Robbie Keane played brilliantly against Wales. In an unfamiliar role, and one unsuited to his game, he created our best chances.
Finally, him and Duff get more attention from opposition players when they play for Ireland because they are our creative players. If you stop them, you stop Ireland. This goes some way to explaining why they haven't always been outstanding for us. They are still worth their places though and by some margin.

And Roy Keane played RB for United on a number of occasions, Duff's played LB for Newcastle, I wouldn't be advocating playing those guys in those positions. Keane is not a winger, never has been. He might have drifted to the wing against Chelsea but he's not a winger. We've a limited number of players so the get the best out of them you play them in their correct positions and Keane's is off the striker in the hole. I thought we learnt that this business of shifting players around for the sake of it isn't that productive?
I started this thread but even I must admit he had a good game for Spurs against Seville last night, could be the fact he has Jermaine Defoe breathing down his neck at Spurs...
I watched the Seville match and he seemed to be playing as the furthest man forward with Berbatov playing off him. The two of them just seem to play exactly as Jol wants. Excellent partnership.

I think that his frustrating performances for Ireland versus his better performances for Spurs is down to having a properly functioning midfield behind him at Spurs. For Ireland he's starved of quality possession and has to go all over the place just to get on the ball. Nowhere was this more apparent than in Germany.
I think if we had a good central midfield we'd be far more appreciative of Robbie's contribution and his commitment.
