Thought Derry deserved a win last nite. Only for a mistake by fordey we probably wud have won. Linfield hardly had a chance and also we defended superbly. Ken Oman was fantastic and i believe he should have got man of the match ahead of baillie. It was a great nite anyhow and not a bad result for the candystripes. Bring on the shels next tuesday and the brany.:D
HIT DEM DERRY!!!!!:D
Is there any vidoe clips from the other three games i manage to download the shels one, but due to a late night in the pub and heading to work early this morning i haven't seen any of them ????
I'll put the rest up at some stage tonight if they haven't already been posted.Quote:

I thought with a bit more match practice we would have tanked Linfield with our forwards releasing the ball earlier. My MOTM by a country mile was Eddie Mc Callion, an absolutely outstanding performance. Oman looked pretty comfortable as well, good to see. As for the other EL teams good results. Can't wait for Shels on Tuesday. The season is finally underway!
Wouldn't say Oman looked comfortable. Anytime Linfield went forward they caused problems. Overall though Derry were superb and should've won easily

controversial penalty? I haven't seen a replay but I thought it was one of the clearest penos ever.
Definite penalty. Even Jeffries said as much.Quote:

I thought the ref was letting Linfield away with a lot! :)
I thought there would be more at the game last night. Glens werent up for much. The gulf in ability and fitness was clear for all to see. We could have went all to score more goals.
a few good chants..
goal 1 : your not singing anymore
goal 2 : your sh1te and you know you are :P
etc
Brief highlights:
Group 1:
Portadown v Cork
Drogheda v Dungannon
Group 2:
Shelbourne v Glentoran
Linfield v Derry
Yep, quality chants there. Never heard either of them before.Quote:

So far this time, though, we have the biggest win of the campaign, at least one away game the eL should have won and are four games unbeaten against the IL (compare to last season, when Longford lost away to Glens and Linfield and Portadown beat Cork and drew in Tolka, I think). Granted, we're still waiting on an away win, but the eL seem to have acquitted themselves far better this time around. Is it better planning, a hiccup from the IL teams or evidence last season was a hiccup from the eL teams?
They were quite poor examples I'll admit. Shels did have the "Red and White Army" chant in full voice for at least a half hour though, and there was a great atmosphere despite a slightly poor turnout.Quote:

Yes, they were poor examples alright, very poor
Anyway chant of the night had to be;
"Pre-season training, it's only pre-season training" :p
Didn't Shels win at Portadown and Portadown in Cork?Quote:

Shels looked faster, fitter and far more skilful on Monday night.
However I would be careful here as the IL clubs all played on Saturdayand playing twice in 48 hours is tough going especially for part time players.
I think last season el clubs underestimated the northen teams. probably won't happen again
