Very narrow minded....
The Czechs. Usually play nice football and Nedved is a legend.
in case you didnt notice the Scots didnt qualify:) and im sure if they did then he wouldnt be cheering for their opposition in every gameQuote:

What's the rationale against this exactly? Detailed answer required to "help" me out!!!
In supporting an ENGLISH club, you are supporting ENGLISH league, and ENGLISH players, and when you support the club in Europe you are cheering on European succes to ENGLAND. So when you say you support EVERYONE who plays AGAINST ENGLAND it makes you a hypocrite:rolleyes:Quote:

You say you support the Scottish league,Hearts are in the Scottish league the last time I looked anyway, and are Hibs biggest rivals are they not?.So by your theory if Hearts where playing in Europe all Scottish league followers (including their rivals Hibs)should support Hearts. My point is you cannot jump on the bandwagon and start to support your nearest rivals no matter what club or country.I follow Leeds and will not be supporting England in the World cup, and you'll find it's club over country for most English aswell.Quote:

How you can make the leap from supporting a club through "supporting...English palyers" to the "cheering on European success to England" is nothing short of startling! You're vision is very blurred my friend - you are clouding a very simply issue by clutching to you're perception that people cannot differenciate between a club and a country. It is you who needs "help".
If I supported Bolton should I not be support all the national teams of all their international players? By you're ill-thought through suggestion the answer must be yes! The amount of foreign players in the Premiership now is phenomenal so you're "English players" thing falls flat on it's face!
You're opinion on this is so black and white (support club therefore must support country) that it only serves to show how A) you have not thought it through properly of B) you aren't capable of A).:D
For me will have to be T&T as they have taken NI mantle as the smallest nation to have ever qualified. And also because you like to see the small teams do well and hopefully a wee upset against England can occur.
Fact remains despite all those foreign players you would still be supporting an english clubQuote:

Hibs4Ever used the "English players" as part of HIS argument!
I think it's a hollow argument but if you get your kicks out of HIS arguments (and esp. defending them) then knock yourself out buddie:D :D

Don't worry about it son...we'll agree to disagree on the whole thing! Though I couldn't help noticing you're avatar is FAI and you would suggest the Swiss and Ingerland as rivals for the ROI;) :DQuote:

Anyway, as you say, we'll agree to disagree
Many people on here have tried to twist and turn this to somehow suit their own ridiculous arguments.
It's familiar to me because I've heard it so many times.
Usually I just ignore them or change the subject to something less tiresome, such as the weather.
There are a couple of simple facts here.
Supporting an English football club and then actively supporting any team who plays against England makes you a hypocrite!
No one expects that you should support England simply because you own a Liverpool pencil case, but others are entitled to take exception to the vehemence with which you purport your anti England sentiments.
England has been mentioned as a rival to us but those unfortunates failed to read the topic title or simply ignored the fact that Ireland haven't qualified for the World Cup 2006. We're a rival to no one and no one a rival to us.
The good people of England don't need your "support" but I certainly hope, for the sake of our reputation as a nation, that they never hear your opinion.
As I have always been interested in English football I will be cheering them on for the World Cup.
