[QUOTE=Peadar]It's not that I don't like them but I felt there was such hype about them and people saying how amazing their set was when, quite frankly, for me, they combined with The Who and 'Macca' to drain the atmosphere. Like flesh eating zombies who sucked the life out of the crowd.
My points are based on their performance last Saturday and in the context of the Live8 concert
So what if there was hype about the original set up coming together (not forgetting Syd Barrett). Goes with the territory, doesn't it? I'd say the likes of Pink Floyd couldn't give a $h!te about the hype as they've seen it all, done it all and they're probably too stoned to notice, in any case.
I disagree with you regarding draining the atmosphere but I might be wrong, you might be right, I might be right, you might be wrong. At least, we enjoyed the bands we liked so we're all happy in the end.
Anyway, Peadar, I'll fight for your right to diss the Floyd, Corky Boy. LOL :D. I'll bet you have at least one of their albums in your collection, though - come on, admit it. :p
I though that some of the new bands were good, some of the old bands were good and vice versa.
In fact. i was amazed at the poor response that all bands obtained throughout the afternoon - did anyone else notice this or was it just me getting bad vibes off the telly?? It seemed to perk up a bit as the light faded.
Just heard that Dave Gilmore has stated that they will be donating all the extra sales income from CD sales to the cause which is good. Obviously, they made a hoard of new fans from the performance and are not pocketing the profits. I wonder how many other bands are doing this?
OK.OK, so they don't need the money - before anyone brings that up. So what.
God, you're a cynical bunch.
