Diggs, can you produce these quotes? Otherwise, discussing them is pointless.

I'd imagine there's a little wiggle room in Mick's mind, should something really dramatic unfold tomorrow night. I think he's just suggesting that he pretty much knows his team for Monday, and there's very little that can happen in a friendly against New Zealand to alter that. I don't think that's being unusually rigid at this stage of a campaign.
He still needs to field a team tomorrow night though, and Bryne is a part of that the same as anybody else selected. I doubt Mick would feel the need to pander to anybody given his contract situation.

There is a video on this link on this indo article
Asked about players in question starting tomorrow's possibility of starting then on Monday
1.32 min -1.40 min
Asked about them even being subs
1.52 mins
Sorry I think i have misheard him
my apologies, he was saying it the other way aroiund I think
Redner on me
To be fair to Mick when he seen that Connolly could offer something against Georgia (too late in the game)he did start him against the Swiss which I doubt he had any intention of doing going into that week. That was some flexibility I didnt think he was capable of.
So if Parrott or Byrne light it up tomorrow I would say they would definitely be in with a shot of at least some game time against Denmark.
Team named:
1 Kieran O'Hara
2 Lee O'Connor
4 Kevin Long
21 Ciaran Clark
23 Derrick Williams
20 Josh Cullen
17 Jack Byrne
8 Alan Browne
10 Robbie Brady
15 Troy Parrott
7 Sean Maguire
4-3-1-2 formation I would say looking at that with Byrne playing just behind the front 2. Definitely a team to make it worth while watching
I listened to that short interview on the Indo web page and afaiu his answers , Mick will not be starting any from this line up in the game against Denmark, 2 players might be considered to get a game as a sub but unlikely to be used as a sub and Mick said he'll try not to use them as a sub.
Well, it's not often you can say this, but it's only New Zealand.
Although that doesn't bode well for anyone being promoted from the NZ game either
It's a nice side in fairness lots of technical footballers . I'm not a big maguire fan and he has been horrible in his Irish appearances but this might be a chance to get his confidence up especially if he is playing wide on a front 3 like at Preston.
O connor must be stoked . Let's hope he shows the composure on the ball we have seen underage and deals with the physicality
Thaf midfield 3 on paper has nice balance with Cullen a sitter composed and tidy, Browne a hard running number 8 with a goal threat and Byrne the creative spark. Byrne really needs to not take the easy option of dropping to take the ball off the centre halves or Cullen. He needs to work harder to find that space higher up the pitch to make it easier for Cullen and Browne to play the forward ball to him so he can get turned and actually look to create chances.
I'd be hopeful that parrott would make a big impact tomorrow night and I think brady and Byrne will give him good supply to play to his strengths
Brady needs to light it up to get in on Monday I think he is the most likely from this to be involved ed monday
The interview is muddy waters, the question of who starts when was asked back to front and Mick does answer that question and the following questions in a hazy laid back couldn't really care less manner, but I'm near certain that the gist of what he answered is that none of this line up will start v Denmark, 2 might be used as sub but unlikely to happen and in any case he will try to avoid that eventuality.
Is this the team for Monday so?
Randolph
Doherty
Duffy
Egan
Stevens
Whelan
Hendrick
Browne/Hourihane
McClean
Robinson (or maybe O'Dowda?)
McGoldrick
Slightly off point. But who is worse Collins or Sammon?
