Sixteenth of the season for McAuley - http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/acad...w-with-man-utd
First qualifier kicking off in a few minutes against the Faroe Islands
<EDIT>
Sorry, it's at 1:15 GMT (2:15 CET) according to uefa: http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2...sts/index.html
the FAI website has it as 12:15
Slovaks 1 up after 5 mins in the other game. No room for error for our lads.
We're 1 up ourselves now. Connolly scored
2-0 Connolly again after 23 mins
Slovaks 2 up also.
Finished 4-0, very competent.
Slovaks won 2-1, missing a penalty at 2-1.
Slovakia on Paddy's Day. Beat them and we go through.
I think it bodes well for the future that our named strikers - Idah, Connolly and Roache - have scored 11 of our 13 goals so far and that our highest profile striker in this age group (McAuley) not on the scoresheet. I'm starting to feel a bit more positive about our forward options in the longer-term, but we may still have a bit of a short-term problem after the World Cup with Doyle, Murphy and Walters likely in their last campaigns.
Just kicked off the second qualifier against Slovakia. Live text commentary on uefa: http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2...&match=2021291
1-0 up in stoppage time, McAuley. Great result if I haven't jinxed it.
Great result to top group
Qualified now, and the result should see them top the group now, yeah? Unless Cyprus beat us, and Slovakia hockey the Faroes
highlights of the 4-0 win over the Faroes
and the 1-0 win over Slovakia
final game VS Cyprus is live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be1g1x_kDqc
2-0 victory over Cyprus today to wrap up their elite group - both goals from Brighton's Aaron Connolly, bringing his total to a very impressive seven in six qualifiers - looks like he could be one to watch in the next few years. He hasn't exactly been prolific for Brighton's U-18s, with three goals in fifteen appearances, but has played two games for their U-23s over the last couple of months and has scored three times.
Slightly Off Topic - but I see that the Faroe Islands beat Slovakia 2-1, and as runners up they have also qualified. Must be a first for them ( 7 of the 8 runners up qualify, and they have a better h2h record against the top 3 teams in their group than Portugal who only drew with 3rd placed Poland in group 3 ) .
Great for them to top group and play in the finals in the summer!
