They'd have been forced to move it to Friday presumably.
Cork v Bohs is being shown on March 4th.
Soccer Republic continues to be shown Monday nights at 11:05pm.
Not really. Bray trying to establish a time for home games which they'd have to change. And it looks like RTE left it late to propose it (how long have fixtures been out, and how long ago was the change/ live game proposed)? For a change that will probably cost Bray money.
Pity they turned it down (not even sure clubs had that option!) also not sure it would have effected the crowd much, first games usually well supported for all clubs. Its possible as suggested above, they wanted to stick with the Sat night 7.30 KO for consistency, but Live TV is still good profile for clubs, even if they get nothing for it, in terms of cash. I think the away support will be bigger though on the Saturday though, however Dundalk would have brought a large following regardless of the night.
Cork v Bohs still a good game to pick, that’s on RTE, I wonder how many of the 27 live league games this season will be on RTE?
I'd still like to know when RTE said "Jump" to Bray, with the expectation of a "how high" answer. On the face of it, it doesn't seem like they gave a lot of notice.
Pure rubbish. Bray were never "asked" or never "turned down" a live game. You don't have the option to refuse a live game. You get told and that's it. Shamrock Rovers last year the example, didn't want rte to show games but still had no choice.
I didn't think any club had the option to 'turn down' a game, so the above post does make a bit of sense really.
I don't know if my sources and Wandererfan's are the same but he is correct. When the fixtures came out RTE spoke to the FAI about what games they (RTE) were interested in showing in the first three or four weeks. They did express an interest in showing Bray v Dundalk considering Dundalk are defending champions. AFAIK RTE did not and do not deal directly with any club. I do not know if the FAI spoke to Bray or Dundalk but RTE's choice of Cork v Bohs was based on whatever was discussed between themselves and the FAI. Why doesn't someone email Ryal Nugent and ask him considering the FAI tells us nothing.
So the Cork City vs Dundalk President's cup game was on the FAI's youtube page. If I had know it was going to be on, I would have gotten up to watch it. nobody seemed to know it was even on till game time. A little bit of notice and viewership could have been much higher. No commentary or anything though.
What time zone is Skibbereen in?
Any idea of the next live game on RTE? Thanks.
None have been announced. Won't be any of the next 2 weeks anyway
Another under-20 rugby match this Friday night on RTE.
There was talk of being able to watch all games online. How does this work?
Next televised game announced as well as kick-off time change for another game.
