Killala 2 - 2 Westport Utd. B., this could be a precious point in our annual fight against relagation, went 2 up in the first half, great ball by Heffo resulted in D.W scoring, got a second from a penalty after a push in the back on Smurf, the keeper saved the first shot but Heffo scored the rebound. As it always said a team is most vulernable after scoring, it was again with Westport pulling back nearly imiediately, they equalized with a very strong hint of offside. Things got worse for us with conceding a penalty and our CB getting sent off for his reaction. But our goalkeeper saved the resulting penalty, 2 - 2 at HT. The second half was a battle against the onslaught of constant Westport pressure with our keeper pulling off 2 great saves. Near the end we had a couple of chances to sneak a winner. It is very close now at the top with 2 points between the 4 teams. At the bottom, Kilmore is as good as relegated and Urlaur as good as safe. Next up Swinford and Ballyglass at home, another 2 dogfights.
Congrats to Westport United B on wining the league - the league table never lies - there were the best team in the league!
It was a good season for the B team. Next season will be challenging in Premier A with so many local derbies, so I see a lot of points being dropped.
