Been a change in this division. St.Pauls promoted and Shannon Town B put back down. Probably only right as St.Pauls did finish a head of Shannon Town. Disaster pitch wise though.
How in hells name was a mistake like that made.
They knew this all summer and still couldn`t get it right.
The fixtures were up on the limerick soccer site as shannon town in div. 2b.
They rightly kicked up, but shannon town were going further than the ldmc with it so they were embarrassed into a climb down.
Season not started yet and grief from the boys above already.
They have bumped teams up in the past that have finished below other teams. I can only imagine st.pauls got in early and said don't put us up if ye are so without contacting Shannon they just promoted them in the hope Shannon would be just happy with that.
Shannon were right to object if they felt they weren't ready. Pity though as Shannon at least have a decent pitch.
as rules in limerick state two teams go up surely any team that finishes below top two has the right to refuse to go up st pauls finished 4th so i would imagine they would still have good case to refuse to go up as for shannon not being ready to go up may be more a case of staying down to win a handy league title with four of last years top teams now gone out of league :p
I hope that isn't there thinking cause they have abbey in 3A now and abbey are beating everyone very well in friendlies, including teams in 1A. Have signed 6 or 7 players from Star A and 1 from Pike Rvs.
I agree every team being bumped up should be asked first. No point in going up if a teams feels they aren't ready or feels they would have better chance of winning something staying were they are.
Those players have been there done that I suppose. They won 1A and in the premier outside of the top two and maybe one or two others you aren't going to win anything in the premier so unless you are being signed for the top few what appeal is there really to play with the other premier teams, most likely just fighting to stay in the division? At lot of premier teams are struggling at the moment and I would think those are the reasons. Maybe a lot of players are now returning to their old clubs or want to help clubs get back up the leagues like abbey. Maybe some lads just want to go out and play a bit of ball on a Sunday and enjoy their football. Realistically Pike and Boro with possibly Carew are going to clean up this year. Being the other teams in that division isn't exactly appealing.
I think people are playing for teams outside of the premier now because there is no hope of them winning anything in the premier unless you poched to sign for pike or Boro, would love to see Carew win something as I said before they are doing it the honest way and seem to be the up and coming team were players are play for the pride of the jersey. I thnk a few players are now saying sure Ill play for a lower div so that I can win something, the ldmc, Pike and Janesboro have a lot to answer for,
as for the star players leaving star to go to another club knowing that it will mean no more star, its a bit shameful really, club loyality and all that.
Regarding your last comment...............all of the Star players left the club as there was no manager appointed, no pre-season organised (and that wasnt the first time its happend) and very few clubmen left.
As for the lads signed with Abbey from Star............most of them pal around together and are doing their bit to help a friend that took over the Abbey team and in Kevin Barry's case, he signed for his brother full stop.
Best of luck to them as I think they'll pi*ss the division (if the players turn up)
given what posters are saying about the quality of signings Abbey have made they should canter through the divisions if they put in the work.years back they came through the leagues and made the premier only to shaft the manager who got them there, put a couple of new guys in who it must be said were a shambles and lead the club to long term damage.hopefully recovery has now been set in place,it would be welcome to see them on the way back.
Anybody any predictions on who will do well in this division this year. I expect Lisnagry to be up there anyway. Don't know much about the other teams Barr Ballylanders and St.Pauls, both will be very tough to beat. Southend and Hill Celtic did well last year so could be more of the same from them.
How are Hibs B doing? Signed/lost many of last years team, they needed to add a few to have any chance of promotion...
Coonagh vs st.pauls off
As far as I know Southend game and hill Celtic one is off too.
Ref called ours off anyway at about 5:50pm. Pretty sure Hill Celtic and Mungret had to wait for the ref too. Who got them off early? We rang today as the lads out putting up the nets said the pitch was flooded in a few areas but were told it was too late and we would have to wait for the ref so we said fair enough.
Abbey 9-0 Parkville
