In fairness Gary Shaw didnt have the power in his little skinny legs to score on an open goal (That he got a corner for missing ) The Beast wouldnt have had such problems.

Not really that bitter to be honest calm down lads, both our defenders got injured by the way, the first lad wasn't fully right to play at all was a bad decision to start him hence the subs.
and we gave them full credit for being far better than us in Jackman a few weeks back
Well done to limerick, have to compliment pat scullys tactics last night a lot of credit has to go to himself and hes backroom staff to go to longford all or nothing game , disappointed with bradleys sending off but gamble will be back for the next game.
Wasn't at the game myself and didn't know who was down to ref it but as I was reading your comment before I even got to the end I knew it was Phil Caschera, says it all about him as a ref.
Ya well done last night Pat ;)
Jesus lads take it easy.....First half we were absolute dogs and tbf ye were nothing special if we turned up at all theres no way it would have been 2-0 but it was and ye deserved your lead no doubt. However 2nd half (especially after the sending off which was perfectly just) we absolutely dominated the game and ye played with 10 behind the ball as we camped in the limerick half. We hit the post twice and ur keeper made about 5 class saves it was just a simple case of not our night.
As for Cashcara theres a reason he doesnt get Premier Division games (and never will if theres any justice in this world) but in no way would he ever do us a favour, every time he comes down he robs us and in the last 2 games we had him at home he sent one of our lads off he wasnt been biased to us he is just sh1t and if you were the far side of the ground you would have seen one of the most comical goal kicks ever given......Limerick may have the momentum but there's a long way to go so let see how you deal with the pressure if you hit the front.
PS: Fair play on bringing such a large away crowd but we outsung ya :)
Yep he got everything spot on lastnight fair play to him. I was questioning the fact that we were sitting back so much after the sending off but it worked perfectly.
I wont even get into the fact that we bossed ye first half too much but how anyone can say that Bradleys sending off was fair ill never know it was James McGrath that actually made the tackle that wasnt even a foul so for it to be fair for Brads to get sent off for that
Ye completely destroyed us in the first half, although whoever said that the first goal was going in anyway without the deflection needs their eyes checked, our keeper was going one way and had to try dive back the other way, it was a bigger deflection than you'd think. 2nd was a bullet from Behan but Kirbs handed it to ye on a plate. We were deservedly 2 down anyway at HT coz we were so rubbish. 2nd half we pushed on as you'd expect and on another night might have poxed a draw, with a few close shaves that Barry Ryan did well to save, but in reality if we did get anything it would have been robbery.
Your number 6 in midfield was pure quality btw. Completely ran the show. Cousins got a few things wrong for us, starting players in the wrong positions, starting players that weren't fully fit and making poor subs IMO. Watching us for the last month or so, we have really needed this mid season break coz we've been brutal recently.
That's what it looked like from my angle too. You could be critical and say the 2 lads might have managed it better with the ref afterwards so he knew it was McGrath and not Bradley but its not their fault the ref was inept.
O'Leary turning into a top notch player...must be accomodated when Gamble & Bradley are both available, he was excellent.
First half we pressed a lot and they kept giving the ball away as a result. The team at last was not 2nd to every ball lastnight. We played well ourselves when we had it and deserved the 2 goal lead, Behan buried that second one...beautiful. btw...I have one of this season's shirts..they are a bit snug in fairness.
Unlike some of the posts above, I didn't think we looked very comfortable when down to 10. We went 4-4-1 as you might expect (not exactly parking the bus) but we did allow their full backs a little more space and they started to find a few more passes. I was sure we would concede and I thought they should have scored 2 or 3 times. Some good saves and terrible finishing and build-up play by Longford more than us being comfortable. I was wondering should we keep 2 up front to keep pressing them but we probably wouldn't have had the legs for 3 in midfield.
If I was a Longford fan I would have been very dissapointed with their performance. Is that what Longford really are or has it just been a couple poor games? I seam to recall them being much much better in Jackman.
As already mentioned...Flancare is a great ground, well done Longford.
Forgot to mention it in my above post....
Apologies for the event controllers actions. If it's the same person that I'm thinking of, then I'm not surprised. The man is a complete arsehole. Small man with a big opinion of himself.
They've cleaned it uup well in fairness.
A few things lads from reading the posts. There is no vitriolic fist punching here by Limerick. It was a great win and well deserved. It was our third good performance this season (none at home yet)
Certan askpects of "journalism" lead to a resentment to what some people post here,.comming home last night a few of the lads were guessing what the reports would say. "Limerick dominated the first" Longford dominated the second" "bradleys sending off was deserved/fair"
The facts are Limerick bossed the game and bossed Longford. Phil Cashcera did his best to bring longford back into the game. Booking Bradley for diving when he had been fouled. Booking tracy for fouling when the player dived, booking bradley again for a good tackle by James McGrath on the diving longford player. Down to ten in the second half limerick sat back. So Longford gained a numerical advantage (one would say they had it from the start ) but did nothing with it. Clever passing by O'Leary (19) and McGrath (17) kept the Longford defence in their own half as a breakout goal could happen due to the speed of Gaffney (21) and the introduction of McGann (18)
Limerick fans were not allowed hang their flags last night. Anywhere. It costs €75/80 to have your septic tank pumped out, please please do so over the break.
Great to hear Barry Ryan had a good game too, he's a good keeper and if he can keep it up it'll make a huge huge difference, did many fans make the trip up?
Really great reports coming out of Flancare, it's good to not just win a "big game" but do so somewhat comfortably. Shame the mid-season break has started, Limerick seem to have built a bit of momentum.
I guessed Lkimerick would, after the Cup weekend, go into this game with a bit more confidence then Longford, but I was not expecting the home team to not show up in the first half. Everything people are saying here is a bit like what they were saauing for the game in Jackman, just with the roles reversed. If Longford have hit a slump, the three week break comes at just the right time.
But how do you square that with:Quote:
So Longford gained a numerical advantage (one would say they had it from the start ) but did nothing with it.
I wasn't at the game, so was it a case of Longford not having their scoring boots on and Limerick getting lucky, or the Limerick defence/keeper doing enough to put them off, keep them out?Quote:
We hit the post twice and ur keeper made about 5 class saves it was just a simple case of not our night.
how do you sqaure that up with?
cos its a load of bunkum. If you call one shot skimming the outside post, a few safe catches by Ryan, a few go collect balls by ryan or a few weak as ****s headers as shots on target then i think we're pretty safe for the rest of the season. We bossed them pure and simple.
Quite simply that didnt really happen as you would think from his comment...They hit the post once and it was the outside of the post with no danger of it going in (they were given a corner for it though). And as for the 5 great saves,Barry made a few good saves nothing spectacular to stop a certain goal or anything like that most of his work was to come through bodies to collect crosses which he did very well.....Even if you read the updates on Extratime.ie i think you will see Outspoken has played thinngs up a bit to make Longford seem better then they were.
