We were absolutely awful and tbf that defeats been coming for weeks.....the last time i can remember us playing well was mervue united 4-2 and limerick away where we had to rely on big hylo saves. We are too laid back against small teams and perhaps the only good thing to come from this was that TC will lay into the boys all week as someone said behind me to make sure we are 1000% ready for limerick. A lot of people said the players didnt try hard enough but all I'l say is fair play to the fans who gave it there all and afaik Cabs will be posting details of our plans for the limerick game on here so keep an eye out because we need an atmo like that every game! For anyone who wasnt at the game you missed a beautiful day at a beautiful ground with the best bar in history! at least something good came from the days eh boys.
The chances we missed were a joke. Then they scored from pretty much their only two clear chances. Just far too casual today. Where where Bermingham and Shaw? Should have had at least one of them on the bench if both were fit. Kirby too.
we just couldnt score, didnt look like we wanted to win the players were very laid back and you could hear TC roaring at them at half time.. came out then a little bit better for a few min but still just couldnt hit the back of the net.. hopefully we can pick it up for game against limerick, we wont beat them if we play like we did
kirbs and shaw were injured and bermingham was suspended longfordian. havo was a huge loss to us today. its a pity as there was a huge away support and there were people that i hadnt seen at a away game in well over five yrs.. I hope the lads get their act together it was embarassing to watch tbh.. gillespie was the only one that played well for us.
TBH thought Cherry orchard were well up for it today and deserved it - a well drilled team - who coaches them?
Longford were not at the races and probably thought this would be a cake walk - pity as they brought up a decent and vocal support
It was the first time in 17 long yrs that we were knocked out by a nonleague side Avondale in 95! and hopefully will never see the likes again.. the lads better buck their act for saturday or there will be changes galore!
Sunday was the first time this season we havnt scored. . Let alone score first. . If anything the game might be the kick up the backside we've needed of late. . As mentioned above it has been coming. Tactically i thought they were good, although we played to their strengths, nearly seemed at times we were trying to put the ball on paddy collins head. . Thought changes could have been made sooner, i think we sat off in midfield and the ineffective duffy or purdy were isolated, supporting our front men has been a problem this year, we are slow to support from the middle. When all is said done cherry orchard were full value for the win. . But not too disappointed to go out, providin we can get a result saturday. .
