I thought Gaffney was shocking and wasted more possession in good advanced psitions than any other player and he does this every game. He just langers the ball forward when he has any opportunity and doesn't seem to see what's going on around him. Gamble and Bradley who have been outstanding the last few games just weren't at the races. Peter white and Dempsey had pretty much nothing to do all day barr a few tackles. Behan was taking a great first touch for most the first half but with nothing going on around him this faded away pretty fast. Derek O Brien put in some bad crosses but he at least attacked the Waterford players and you could see them worry when he did. He hasn't had a chance to play a few games in a row due to injury so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt with crosses. Coughlan was non existent and didn't get involved at all as far as I'm concerned. Brosnan had a stinker and Frost dealt with him handy enough. The back four hadn't too much to do besides the goal but wasted a lot of possession.

I'd say people think we are lying when we say limerick put in great performances on the road cause it's like watching two different teams.

Very true....I was watching the game lastnight thinking exactly where have those great away performances been. I've only seen the homes games so far, and apart from SD Galway we have been cat....and that game shouldn't really count for anything anyway. At least last night though you could see a difference in how we were trying to play as opposed to the Longford game. Mostly we tried to play football, which I didn't think Scully would have tried to change to so I am happy enough about that and Shane Treacy is an excellent left back. Waterford harried and hounded all night...just like Longford did. Sometimes that resulted in us kicking the ball long. What strikes me though is we are 2nd to everything, we have looked the less committed team in each game so far. Completelly lacklustre. The goal would not have been conceeded if the players were at all committed. Waterford really did not do much either but their effort earned them a nice win.

Not sure Scully is getting anywhere close to starting the best 11 from available players yet.

Terrible decision to change centrebacks with your last roll of the dice when loosing.

We had most of the ball, Bradley & Gamble were good I thought. Gaffney does not look to have a footballing brain..final product is mostly awful playing from the wing, but he is a great athlete and might actually be very effective upfront close to Behan...would scare the life out of centrebacks with his physicality and pace anyway (Coughlan was too timid lastnight). Start O'Leary on wing...don't care if he is a centre-midfielder, he is a footballer and we have 2 great attacking fullbacks in Treacy & Kelly to provide width. Oh...and we need someone in the dressing room to light a fire under them all.

pretty dire stuff overall,waterford played all the football in the first half,centre foward maguire very good..white and dempsey dominated our two bradley and gamble,second half we huffed and puffed miserably.hard to fathom some of the stuff going on..gaffeneys long throws throughout,taking off a centrehalf,replacing him with another one and then shoving that one upfront,starting the game with one up front again,the lack of decent passing and creativity,scully hiding in the dugout again......and more new staff to add the the growing band of..experts...scully has at his disposal.

I noticed that alright, are the sport scientist and the other guy gone? By the way, anyone know what he did? Genuine question, maybe someone from the club can answer?
And any info bout the new guy?

On the game itself, that was an awful showing from the players. Its the same team that everyone have been praising the last few weeks, yet when they don't perform it's Scully's fault? Doesn't make sense to me, I wish people were as vocal about the players, as they are about the manager, because some of them look like big time Charlies without earning the right to do it.
If Scully played the game for them I'd say fair enough, but looking at the other night, Kelly and Behan were the only 'decent' performers. Coughlan, Gamble, Bradley, Brosnan, Guthrie, Gaffney, S.Tracy mught as well not have turned up. Gave nothing, no effort, nothing. Add in the subs, Sheehan and Derek O'Brien, neither looked fit or sharp. At least Derek tried to beat a man, his delivery was awful though. Really poor showing, if I was them, I'd be ringing Pat O'Sullivan and telling him to keep my wages for the week.

This has been creeping in with a lot of people recently and I genuinely don't get it.

It's absolute nonsense to suggest that Pat O'Sullivan doesn't have the final say when it comes to all facets of the club.

He didn't make all that money we're wasting by being a fool.

I wasnt aware Scully had one on his staff. Surely this is the guy to "light the fire under them" as someone else put it. If the players have some mental block, either the psychologist isnt doing his job, or the players arent listening to him. Something needs to change anyway.

I honestly thought we has turned the corner after the Longford game. Fair enough if we lose to a better side but Waterford are an average First Division side to be fair. Young lad up front Sean Maguire is a fantastic prospect but other than that they are nothing special.

Tactically Limerick were extremely poor. One positive I took after the Longford game was that Scully had realised that playing one up front wasn't working for Limerick. Results in Wexford and Harps show this.

Never in my time watching football have I seen a manager swap two centre backs for each other when a team are one nil down. I know he threw Purcell up front but if taking off a defender why not bring on O' Leary, get some creativity into the side.

We have the players to walk this league but for some reason Scully has us playing like Stoke City. Watching long balls to a big man up front on his own, is not what people are going to watch on a Friday night. I'd watch it myself if it meant we were winning but losing again at home is shocking to be honest.

I was really impressed when I seen Limerick signed Shane Guthire this season, he has been a player I wanted Limerick to sign for many years not but to be honest hes been really disapointing to be honest. We have a real problem at the back.

Scully needs to go back to a simple 4-4-2 formation, let the players we have play football and we will win this league. Until then, expect the same.

I know he obviously has final say but i also know that he takes advice and listens to it from people in the club.

Gamble was poor against Waterford away and home and Longford at home. Barr that he has been excellent in every other game. Never pulls out of a tackle, has scored two important goals and has put in some excellent blocks in the box. The main problem is the players are not doing the business in front of the home fans and most leave Jackman park very disappointed. This needs to change very fast.

Joe Gamble, is in my humble opinion, the player of the season so far for Limerick.*





*I missed the Waterford game (hooray for me :) ) but that's it.

He's not alone... Others I have been disappounted with have been Purcell, Quinn, McGann, Derek O'Brien, Sheahan (the rare time I've seen him play) Bhandarker, Behan (at the start but looks to be coming good now) Brosnan. That's an awful lot of players who haven't played anything near to what they can. Suppose it's just football though, all those players play rubbish (for whatever reasons) ...results in manager getting sacked, reputation in tatters, players get a pay increase and a contract next season. Who'd want to be a manager? :)

I dont think pat sullivan should have gave scully a contract so soon.

Hes not but whoever was involved with giving Scully that length of contract and when they did made a fairly stupid decision.

I'd agree about Gamble, his passing range is outstanding, if they were more penetrating he would be far and away our best player. Bradley has those in his locker too. No point in making those passes to an isolater striker tho, with two deep wide players.

I think you need to take a look at the clip here. The culprits here should be identified and dealt with appropriately by Limerick FC as per regulations set down by the Club.
