some quotes from Dolan in the Herald
...in an article where football is hardly mentioned.
"Somebody came up at half-time behind me and hit me with a water baloon", claimed Dolan, and photographic evidence may back up his claim. "And somebody else hit me with a coin. But what can i do about that? I did nothing to intimidate anyone here tonight. That comes from within the higher echelons of Shelbourne football club. They think that's acceptable."
"I laugh at it, the fact they do this to Pat Dolan. I ask the referee about it, he says it's not his problem, I ask the security but if they want to abuse me here, then that's okay."
"You've seen the incident yourselves, you be the judge of it", said Dolan. "anything I would say would just be controversial. But they're good at that here, you know, intimidating officials. It's acceptable to do that here."
He also pays tribute to the City fans, while having a dig at the poor attendance, and says City are a better footballing side, but not strong enough for Shels 'direct' style.
The two lines I've put in bold worry me, we know what Oily and Shels are like and it's probably in Pat's best interest not to use phrases like this, even if we all know that there's truth behind them. It actually takes the focus away from Shels absolutely abysmal attempts to control the crowd and protect players and officials and instead casts the glare at the Dolan -v- Shels saga. No doubt Oily's response will condescend again in a situation where he should be grovelling and explaining himself.
Whether you consider a water baloon as funny or not, fact is, CCFC's manager was struck on more than one occasion as he walked off the pitch, so let me be the first to say it, it's time to stop fining them, dock the pr!cks points
