You still never answered how John Tierney is bettering himself?

tierney could surprise a lot of people by movin back to his boyhood club knockainey due to family reasons, and with his relation over the team again dis season..at least there in the mjc and fai unlike boro.. john is training with us this week because the season is over..
This is the first mention of Waterford. People said he was signing for the boro. The Limerick lads began to find this rumour funny and that he is too good for junior. You then said that Monkfish was slagging Tierney off because he was bettering himself. First of all Monkfish wasn't slagging Tierney but the rumours about him and secondly there was no mention of Waterford till you made it up now so you had been implying him moving to Janesboro would be bettering himself which it clearly wouldn't.
If Tierney has to go back to Junior for personal reasons then thats his choice but to say he is bettering himself is total rubbish.
They finished a few points ahead of us this year and will be playing in the 1st Div with us again next year. Hardly a giant leap for mankind. :D

Dunno why I bother sometimes but the off-season nonsence makes it worthwhile :hat:
if any signings our rumors are made about players joining the club
Would think it will be a while before we hear of new signings. Would like to see a few players from last season signing on and being announce. Cork City seem to have done well in this respect already making sure they hold onto their best players from last season.
Will need some serious signings to make up for this
told ye he goin to waterford
Serious void to fill now that Tierney's gone. And unless he gets up off his hole I really don't think Stevo's the man to do it.
Good to have Coughlan and O'Leary tied down though. Hoping Scully can make some inspired deals over the winter and have a squad capable of automatic promotion for next year.
Club needs to look at whos getting what, improved contract should have been no brainer for a player like John.
Any chance he was offered an improved contract and turned it down too? Surely he was top of Scullys list of players to hold onto and should have been offered something similar to any prospective players Scully wants to bring in.
If Scully does pull some big signings out of the bag and we do well next season this will probably be forgotten about but if Scully doesn't and the team starts next season poorly the pressure will seriously be on him and people will be saying we should have had Tierney signed straight away.
Think people are over-reacting Jt was brilliant last year but he has had one good season thats it he was awful the year before. Not slagging off JT but Shane Tracy was brilliant last year look at hi m this year could easily happen to JT definitely dont think he is good enough for Prem anyway he played most games as striker and ended with 5 goals.
Get a striker in that scores and a decent winger and i will be happy.
Again before anyone goes mad i am not slagging off JT i think he was brilliant this year and am gutted to lose him but its not the end of the world.
Personally i have always thought Tierney has been good for us. He may not score many goals but for the last few years he always gave 100% for the team. Always thought he'd make a better winger. He played a bit there against Fingal (In Jackman) and Derry at home and he caused their defences all kinds of problems running at them. Standing up front with his back to goal doesn't suit him. Running at it and taking players on down the wing does.
We need a good proven striker who works hard (like Philly Hughes), a fearless winger who will take on players, a tough centre midfielder and a right and left full and i think that will go a long way for us.
Tonight shows how important winning the first division is. Monaghan and Waterford still in the first division next season. Must be gut wrenching for those fans after good seasons for both teams.
We'll need a very strong squad to compete next season. Cork and Waterford will be strong. It'll be hard to tell with Monaghan and Drogheda. Shels will probably be strong next season.
Already thats 6 teams that are going to be going for the first division next season.
Brian O'Callaghan signed for 2011
