Basically we have:
Ryan
Purcell
Danaher
Colbert
Hughes
Walshe
Tierney
That would grace any team in the Division. There's a few more after that whos case you could strongly argue.
We were always going to be one of the best teams in the Division (well competing towards the top end anyway) just needed a good boss to come in.
And now we have Pat Scully. :)
Would fully expect us to continue to be gash for the next three to four weeks. We're decimated between injuries, suspensions and international call ups.
From second series of games on we should be petty strong though :ball:
One of my favourite Scully moments was when Kilkenny were playing us and Scully had recently moved to Shamrock Rovers. He came into the stand at the game at Buckley Park and some KC fan shouted "Judas" at him. He turned around and responded "That's mister Judas to you". Good on him.
Well done on a great appointment btw Limerick, just hope he hasnt gotten into his stride til after the 4th April.
I'd place a bet with anyone that Limerick will be at least 10 points off top, and 5 points off the playoffs this season. And I get the notion that Shels are far stronger than Limerick because this season we've a large number of Premier standard players to add to what was already an extremely impressive squad last year that came within about 30 seconds (of course you Limerick lads will know this all too well) of promotion. From what I can tell, its a similar enough Limerick squad to the one last season, except having lost their best attacking force. They may surprise everyone but I seriously doubt they'll come above fifth again this season.
What's your point??
5 points off the playoffs would represent a promotion challenge (up to the final couple of games anyway)
D'uh.
That Limerick squad when assembled was right up there with Shels and anyone else for that matter.Quote:

We lost a striker, replaced him with two strikers. Life goes on....
I would take a competitive fourth or fifth.Quote:

Based on what??
Again based on what?? What do you know about any of our strikers??Quote:
And you can replace Sheehan with 10 strikers if you wish, I doubt they're as good.
He was a good player.Quote:
That lad was top notch
Absolutely no reason why John Tierney for one can't be as good as him IMHO
At least five players at the club that I would have picked before Gary Sheehan to stay. A fine striker with loads of potential but not the be all and end all.
Your argument seems to be the equivalent of saying Mervue could actually win this league by 30 points because we don't know enough about their players. I'm not saying that Limerick have absolutely no chance but they don't have proven quality while Shels, Fingal and Waterford all do, and UCD are already looking impressive, Limerick so far are not.
While your argument seems to be: "I don't know anything about Limerick but I can write them off because they are nearly always crap shur."

Danaher
Colbert

Walshe
Tierney
Barrett
All proven quality at this level.
Saw nothing to be overly impressed by when they played us. But point taken, given the "quality" of the division they should be there or there abouts.Quote:
and UCD are already looking impressive,
Didn't you hear. We had one of our famous annual pre season circuses down here. See my post about us being gash and getting better.Quote:
Limerick so far are not
No my argument is that I saw Limerick 6 times last season, they looked impressive once. Its a largely similar first team with a few additions this time around amirite
Your opinion of the 6 times you saw them last season aint much of a basis for the whole world to write them off though........
IMO. :)
There's a tranfers thread somewhere............Quote:

A first team that has been one of the best in the first division since it got together.
Funny that, I just looked at the transfers thread and compared it with the starting lineup for the games this season, and dya know what? My point stands.
Whos Scully's assistant going to be?Is Ski McGee still there or am i behind the times?
I never said you didn't have a point about the team being similar....
You'll also notice the players missing from starting lineups and realise how depleted we have been then?? You can compare them to last years strongest eleven if you like seeing as you have so much free time. :)
I'll have a good look tomorrow night. Having said that, even that team that were signed in July last year, I don't think they'd be in with much of a fight for promotion. Fingal and Shels both have signed sides that would compete in midtable in the Premier, and its almost certainly gonna be one of those who wins the league, probably the other one going forward to face a Premier team in the playoff.
We're severly depleted tomorrow night :)
You would hear no argument from me about Shels and Fingal being top two by a stretch. I don't think Shels are quite as good as they seem to think they are min but they have a strength in depth but puts them up there.Quote:

I just saw no reason why we shouldn't be included with Waterford and UCD in the group chasing for the third play off spot was all.
For the record I would divide the division up as follows:
Fingal
Shels
UCD
Waterford
Limerick
Monaghan
Garbage
Garbage
Garbage
Garbage
Garbage
Garbage
