Apparently it was or is his 25th birthday and he wasn't going to spend it at some poxy training camp and that was the bottom line. Goes to show how much respect he has for the club and his manager. They're also paying £16m for De Jong who's available in the summer for £1.8m due to a clause in his contract. Sensible.
