Hope it won't be a one sided game. Still looking forward to it. Celtic should complete the 2nd part of what could be a treble. Still finals are finals and anything can happen.
any names linked with taking over Saint Michaels afterJohn Cremmins stepping down as manager
Thats hardly fair unless the wilderness refused to play, also I see peake villa were awarded a win without
playing a game is that the game between them and the bridge where an illegal player was played, seems like tommy lewis is making up his own rules that result should of been clarified well before the end of the season, I take it its two down and not one as was first said earlier in the season.
The 2 Up 2 Down rule was rubber stamped at the last AGM. League will not revisit changing that rule after 3/4 of clubs voted to keep it the same as it has always been.
How recent was the last AGM? Its strange the points were awarded to saints and cashel if its a case of the games being pointless as wilderness cant catch catch villa surely a point each would of been the fairest thing to do. Saints vs celtic was a meaningless game so why did that have to be played?
TSDL AGM held every June.
I just thought they were gonna do one down two up to make it a 9 team division again.
If you look at the table now villa are 7 points ahead of wilderness so they must of been awarded a win aswel because up until sunday morning villa still had 1 fixture left I think its a complete joke whats gone on I highly doubt the wilderness gave walkovers, the tsdl should come out and clairfy things.
Wilderness played Cashel at HOME 4th Nov and lost 2 - 3 ---- They played Cashel AWAY 3rd Feb drew 1 - 1. This means that at most they have one game outstanding which is AWAY to saints. Peake Villa 7 points Clear so would make no difference. As far as I know Saints game was to be played on a Wednesday evening under lights and Wilderness did not field.
The Wilderness were down to play on a wed night against Michaels, they apparently gave notice 2 or 3 days prior sayin they couldn't fulfil that fixture and it was deemed not enough notice. The fact that it was a wed night ,in my opinion, should have meant they were contacted prior to the fixture being made to see if it was possible to play it. It's outside the normal time for fixtures which is a Sunday.
Wilderness were losing 3-2 when the game was abandonded and they were told it would have to be replayed and the michaels game as bishbash stated they gave notice as they had lads working its ok for michaels they were at home but wilderness had to travel. Up until sunday villa were 4 points ahead
With one game left how did they get 3 points without playing there last game?
'The Celtic/St.Michaels game brings down the curtain on the Premier division. Several issues had to be decided at the boardroom to complete the league tables which will be updated on the official TSDL website.(1) The game between St.Michaels and Wilderness Rovers was deemed a walk-over to St.Michaels as Wilderness did not fulfil the fixture on the fixed date.
(2) The game between Wilderness Rovers and Cashel Town, which was abandoned at 62 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch when Cashel were leading 3-2, was deemed ‘result stands’ with Cashel Town winners.
(3) The game between Peake Villa and Old Bridge, which Old Bridge won 1-0 was awarded to Peake Villa because Old Bridge players were not registered on time. None of these decisions affect any issues in the league.' Source, Nationalist.'
I think the Wildies got a bit of a raw deal and I couldn't see a 'bigger' team being treated in the same manner. In relation to the Cashel game the rules state that 'an abandoned game must be replayed unless the rules of a competition state other wise'. Do the rules of the TSDL state otherwise? With the Wildies 1 goal down with 27 minutes remaining there was every chance they could have come back. Also it was my understanding the TSDL games are scheduled for weekends unless both teams can mutually agree an alternative date. It was quite obvious that a Wednesday night didn't suit the Wildies and it's not as if there wasn't time to fulfil this fixture (i.e. when has the entire TSDL programme been complete at the end of April before). It's irrelevant whether people think Wildies hadn't a chance against St Michaels in Cooke Park (remember St Michaels haven't won in 6 games so a suprise result wasn't out of the question). Having making these 2 unfair decisions the League then relegated Wildies by giving Villa the points against Bridge (the decision about this game should never have been left to the end of the season). The Wildies were relegated at a TSDL management meeting and not on the field of play and that is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Shame on the TSDL.
You got that post spot on Roberto, yes the wilderness may have still gone down but least there wouldn be any arguements the villa and bridge game should of been decided months ago I wonder would the wilderness have any hope going to the fai or are they suppose to just accept it and move onwho knows what affects this will have on there club CRAZY tsdl.
its mad stuff again by tommy lewis. where else would you get it? cup final tonight. best of luck to both teams, can only see a celtic win. il go with 3-1
How strong a team will Celtic put out? Eye on Sunday week?
I think with the squad they have whoever they put out will make things tough for villa but its all on the day so you never no what might happen hopefully it'l be an entertaining game with plenty of goals.
villa beat celtic 2-1!
Really good game in Cashel tonight.
Thank God Villa won because if that decision not to give the penalty at 1-1 had of cost them the game it would have been an absolute disgrace, still bad for the game that the ref (and linesman who flagged to inform the ref of a sub wearing no top at the other side of the field, despite the fact that there was a 4th official on that side and it was nothing to do with the linesman anyway, yet couldnt flag for the easiest decision of his career on his side?) Special mention to the Villa goalkeeper, fantastic display
Super game. Credit to both sides on serving up a top game. Well done Peake. Celtic will hopefully pick it up for Munster final
anyone have any ides on who the new saints manager should be or will be......
Unbelievable stuff last night from peake. Very entertaining stuff. Celtic had a very strong team out and dominated but some of the committment and last ditch stuff from all villa players, especially the young keeper was great to see. Well done to both teams on the best cup final i have been to in years
Well done and congrats to Villa
Excellent game last night.. Celtic reminded me of Arsenal, pass,pass,pass... but no penetration... Villa got maybe 3/4 chances in the game, and scored two of them.
Andrew Cosgraves through ball for the Celtic equaliser was sublime, as was O Hara's finish. Only thing O Hara did all night, but a goal scorer supreme. Kennedy wasted at least two chances to score for Celtic and offered nothing in general play.
As for the penalty claim by Peake, absolute stonewall penalty, no question. Very disappointed with the linesman, was right in line, and had to make the call. Peake would have been very very bitter had they lost after not getting that one.
Serious game by Peakes Noel Kent, played up front all night by himself, and was still full of running wen pulled down for the penalty.
Overall, great game to watch.. well done Peake
Congrats to Villa was deserved with the effort they put in some great defending and there keeper pulled off some great saves especially the one in the 1st half where he got across to clear off the line brilliant. Celtic had a few chances just wouldn go in hit the bar 3r4 times just wasn to be hopefully they can regroup and do the business next sunday im sure the whole TSDL will be behind them.
I would consider being compared to Arsenal a compliment in fact. No penetration? They hit the woodwork four times, had two cleared off the line and have scored over 100 goals this season. No lack of penetration there. As they say it only takes a second to score. Patience, my boy ;)
Comparison to Arsenal was an observation, not necessarily an insult.. in fact not an insult in any way at all. However, like so many Arsenal games over the past few years, and both of this years Champion's League semi finals, the team with most possession lost the game.
It should have been instructive to Celtic, that the one goal they did score was a direct ball over the top of the defence which O Hara pounced on, and not the numerous intricate short passing movements in front of the Villa defence which were gobbled up by the two excellent centre halfs.
As for scoring 100 goals a season.. makes no odds at all.. they didn't score the one or two they needed on Thursday night. It was a classic comparison of styles to be honest, and kept the crowd interested right up to the final kick of the ball, which is all a fan can ask for, and as a nuetral at the game, I got value for money for my fiver. I would have preferred to see Celtic win, but the support for the underdog in Villa had me almost sneakily rooting for them in the end.
I do hope Celtic win the Munster Junior game Sunday.. but also hope they have a Plan B if Plan A runs up against the same kind of defence that it did on Thursday night.
On other matters, there was a fine crowd at the game.. but a muted athmosphere I thought. I also heard a few people complaining about the state of the pitch, which I thought was unfair after the cold winter snap... junior clubs can't make grass grow lads. If Cashel had a better solution to the parking problem, and better access to the pitch, it's well placed to host lots of games like the one Thursday evening.
i think to say that celtics problems are upfront is totally wrong. they didnt have much luck on thursday night and villa defended brilliantly but celtic created numerous chances. the real problem is that celtic totally dominated both posession and territory and still managed to concede twice. their real problems are at the back as they will always give up chances. i hope they sort this out for next week because as soon as they do they will be winning the provincial and maybe national trophies. they are lethal going forward, as good as anyone in the country.
Any final thoughts on how the season went? Best of luck to peake youths also has been a great season for them joe delauny cup would round it off nicely.
Decent season all in. Peake youths being the most positive news. Great season for them with another final to come. The six nil victory over town last week was a major result. At junior level I suppose Cahir Park had best season , but the big test for them is breaking into top 3 or 4 in premier division next season. Well done to Celtic also on 1st league title . Is there a refs awArd night this year . Any word on it ?
Any result from the peake youths game? Cahir had a great season if they can keep there team together and add a few more they could challenge in the top half of the premier. Dunno about the refs awards night they usually have something up on the tsdl website fairly soon after the season end, maybe they'l have something up next week.
