Not sure if it was posted here yet but Rovers game is on Setanta Ireland tomorrow from 4.30. 4.45 kick off.
This would be great and I wonder if there would be some way of luring them in. Probably a name change would be necessary, NW ROVERS or something that would allow them to cross county boundries. Colours are good cos non county. This could provide a population of maybe 250000. 100000 seat stadium, biggest club in country. All joking aside they should try to encourage more outside county fans , would be a very good thing. If they could win the league then encourage the schoolkids.
It will almost certainly be streamed.
If you have eircom as your internet provider, you can get it here:

Drop the Rovers bit, and call it "Connacht United". With 250,000 people based in it's "smallest catchment area", it appeals to almost everyone in the region.Quote:

Ohh jesus.
From the makers of "no direct bus from Tallaght to Phibsborough" and "real fans from sligo would fly to Dublin" we now have why people from mayo, donegal, roscommon and leitrim should support a team based in Sligo Town.
Mypost you are a credit to humanity.
Also go easy on harleyleeds since he is clearly a sockpuppet.
I was only there Sunday night. The reason for missing my flight and a days pay as a contractor.
Looking at those goals against Pats, reminds me of how I have always thought our football teams(clubs and international) have always been made up of midgets...or at least though who wouldn't be considered average sized males at home. Those kazaks almost look like giants against some of them....:)
That must be a worry for Pats on the home game, set pieces, corners/free kicks etc. Not that they are midgets i mean. Looks like they are dangerous in this area, especially given the height difference.
Looking at that video also reminded me of looking at something from 80's esque soviet-russia.
I see this is Mannus' last game for Rovers as he leaves for St Johnstone.
Why is he leaving for St Johnstone?
Mypost is just wumming.
his reaction was to my comment which said:-
"Still my comments of admiration twoards the Sligo Rovers fans stand and considering they have possibly the smallest population catchment area in the PD they can well be described as the leagues best. "
This of course has exceptions and you would be top of that list.
No danger you were up in the Showgies helping them prepare for the euro game , to busy trying to put people down to make yourself feel better .
Go offer your help and youll find the world a better place as all your nastiness flows away.
More money?
There's no real comparison between the footballing infrastructure in Ireland and Scotland. Better grounds, bigger crowds, probably bigger wages and the fact it mightn't hurt his international chances are a bonus
Thanks Dodge, I know there isn't a comparison infrastructure wise, but I'm still surprised.
Rovers at the top here, and should be for a good time to come, and with probably constant European football, why move when he's approaching 30
But St Johnstone??? maybe it is the International he's thinking of, but surely he's going to be behind Camp now anyway?Quote:

Even if he has 5/6 years of an extra £100 a wekk, that will more than make up for the 2-4 European games a season he'd play with Rovers (If he was only interested in european game he wouldn't have left Linfield...). Most players born in the ROI have no emotional attachment to the League, and would jump ship to the UK for £50 so it can't be a surprise when a NI based player does it.
I think the only move thats ever really shocked me (in terms of thinking the player was above the move) was Hoolahan to Livingstone but that worked out for him too. maybe mannus is lookinga t the a similar route
Will he oust Enckelman though? I know even sitting on the bench in Parkhead is probably more of an experience than quietly watching the action in Belfield, but would be hard to progress from a spot on the bench.
Anyone see the bit in the star today that reckons Shams are in for a 530k windfall before matchday profits if they get a result tonight , thats serious money for a club who don't have to worry about ground improvements and would of already budgetted their rent for next few seasons so technically most of that money would then go towards squad improvments.
Anyone else hope Rovers are whipped today????
and europa league play-off too.
Certainly happens dodge a lot :)
Dodge is "the" rubbish moderator......;)
If Rovers get past spread, will they be seeded in the second round for next years CL, or straight into the third round? Or is it down to individual countries ranking that sees them get past rounds? But how did sligo get into the 3rd round of the Europa league if that were the case....
cos winners went into CL I beleive.
When someone goes on about how small their catchment area is, it's time to examine that and correct it if necessary. No I don't expect the grand people of Boyle and Knock to trek to the Showgrounds every Saturday night, but it is their nearest PD team, so technically, it's in their "catchment area".Quote:

it would be good for the game if ireland could be like england and follow teams not actually in their back yard.
paul-oshea is in mayo but doesnt follow his closest team even though he likes LOI.
