Nils Arne Eggen (the most successful coach in Scandinavian football)
Trond Sollied (one of a select group of managers to win a LEague title in 3 seperate countries)

Bora has an impressive CV, but the only reservation I have with him is that he has never managed at international level in europe. Unquestionably the european region is the hardest to qualify from to get to a World Cup, so it would be a vast step up...even for him.Quote:

Me, I'd like Big Ron. Did a great job at guess where and would be an ideal international manager. Larger than life, articulate, knows his football and a good communicator. Not sure what he's up to (no pun intended) at the moment.
The thing is we are are not at all an attractive team to manage. Im sure most pf the guys in the running, the likes of Houllier, Van Gaal and Jewell wont touch the job. The job is even more unattractive now than when Mick McCarthy took the job and certainly when Brian Kerr took the job. I have my fingers crossed that i will be surprised with the candidate choice but i feel it will be between Dave O'Leary and John Sheridan. Not a major fan of O'Leary and i feel its too early for Sheridan.
Making more ridicoulous tv shows where he completly embarresses himself. I hope you were joking when you mentioned him, all Big Ron should be doing is working on his tan. Id like to see a top quality European manager given the job with a talented up and coming Irish person as assistant, perhaps Sheridan. Also id sack Givens while we are at it and actually give the Irish under 21 job to someone that could possibly get the Irish job in the future, someone like Mark Kinsella that is only now starting out in the world of coaching.Quote:

To be honest I think that we are an attractive team to manage at the moment. Despite being a terrible manager Staunton has created a squad with a strong nucleus that, with the right management, should qualify for the WC, bar getting an awful draw. The FAI have money coming out of their arse so they would be getting a decent salary. Also it does appear from the outside that Irish football is in a terrible situation so any possible incumbent could quite possibly be hailed as our saviour, dragging us from being also-rans in our qualifying group to competing in the WC.Quote:
