Does that Census include the lads from Limerick that play for ye??
Im not trying to upset anybody here, and i dont feel i have said anything major out of line, i have just giving my opinion, if ye dont like it then that is yer opinions and i respect that.
Celticlads - Can u honestly say that pitch is up to scratch i mean really, come on, i would nearly go so far as to say i would prefer Kilcommon to Cloughs field. Fair enough the comment on the wind was stupid, ill retract that.
Thats actually pathetic what you have written there . Its says alot when lads from other clubs are replying to your posts and defending us . And i would agree that anyone from Nenagh Town on this would be embarrased by you and your first 3 posts ..
And the time we beat ye in town 5 nil , it did count !! Well it counted for us cos we ended up winning the premier cup after it .. I thought that would have mattered for ye.
Regarding our pitch - we know its terrible .. you are whinging about it .. We are the ones that have to play on it every 2nd week .. Now thats not nice !
We await yer 5th crazy post ! :D
That census comment means nothing, there are two clubs in nenagh plus the amount of people from around nenagh that play for other clubs... Also it's the quality of the players on a team not the number of people that live in the town... The quality that Nenagh AFC have is down to the the club and coaches and the fact that most of the A team have played with the club since u10s.

Hon-the-blues - Step away from the keyboard.
As for the population argument, forget it lads. Nenagh AFC top dogs for a number of reasons - take their footie seriously, progressive schoolboy / girls set up, good coaching, great facilities, club identity from a very early age, encourage their young players to play in Nth Tipp Emerging Talent squads, cater for players of all standards etc. A proper football club. Disliked because they are so successful, like Man Utd, Kilkenny hurlers etc. Sunday mornings Astro sessions for ages 5-8 are where it all begins, from what I've seen recent crop are best yet. Hon the Blues indeed, but I say it and mean it without being condescending or mildly insulting to other clubs.
Lets get back to discussing football. Does anybody think that Nenagh B have any chance in the final or is it a foregone conclusion like a lot of people might suggest.
Im sure Nenagh A must be very confident.
Ok obviously alot of us got off on the wrong foot, anyway moving along swiftly.
Yes i think our B Team have a good chance, they have some quality players and are well able to take their chances as we have seen all year, they are a premier side, just not in the premier division due to the rules. I think if they do get bet it will be by no more than one. A very entertaining game is on the cards
[QUOTE=Tractor Boy;1685568]Lads, don't get me wrong. I really respect what Nenagh Town have done. I'm using the population argument as a shield to defend Clough not a sword to attack Nenagh. Nenagh have a brilliant set-up and from any dealings I've had with them they always come across as decent people.
However they do have a natural advantage based on population. People associated with the club shouldn't use this advantage to attack other clubs that don't have those advantages. I don't have any issue with the success Nenagh have had however based on the size of the town they should be winning the league every year easily and their sights should be set to higher prizes.
For example - Its like when say Bulgaria qualified for a world cup and got to the semi-finals in 94, that was based on a group of good players coming together at the same time. However Bulgaria have a small population and have had little success since. I would compare Cloughjordan to Bulgaria (sorry Clough!) and Nenagh to Brazil.
Brazil will curn out players based on the sheer size of the population. However you don't see Brazil boasting about beating Bulgaria. They boast about beating the Spains / Italys / Germanys of this world. In the case of Junior soccer these are better the teams of towns with similar populations in the FAI / Munster Junior Cups.
You could go into further analysis showing that with the main teams in the next two biggest towns in North Tipp not playing in the competition (ie Peak Villa (Population of Thurles 7,933) & Killavilla (Population of Roscrea 5,403) that Nenagh are an absolutely huge fish within the North Tipp pond (population of North Tipperary 70,322). To be honest I would think that the lack of competition in North Tipp is what holds back Nenagh in the National tournements.
[QUOTE=bawn79;1685765]You have made a lot of valid points but you have missed 1 huge reason as to why north Tipp teams haven't had success on the national front, most players in the bigger leagues in the country are getting paid! now its not the only reason but it is a huge factor
[QUOTE=bawn79;1685779]Nor do i, its very hard to take on the big teams form other leagues when they are paying players and bringing them form all over, wasnt trying to have a go at you at all i just think its a big factor but like i said its not the only reason we struggle to contest on a regular basis. Form what i know some of the teams in south tipp have done well in national competitions without the aid of money. Ive no problem with a lad getting a few bob for petrol but some lads get signing on fees and other money throughout the year which for junior soccer is just wrong, in my opinion.
[QUOTE=panda87;1686569]Best Youths team the club has produced for a while, all bar 2 of panel have been with the club for past 10 years or so, were a potentially very good schoolboy's team who never really fulfilled their potential on the national stage, have also 2 now playing with Limerick FC, including schoolboy international James McGrath. Very well coached this season too, well done lads.
[QUOTE=skunk;1686583]Well done to Nenagh Youths - that is some win. I understand there are u-19 national cups, anyway ye would be able to keep them together to play in that?
Maybe play them en-mass as the B team or could ye enter them in the limerick league or something?

Was Sallypark covered in that census? :)
Sallypark's population according to the last census was in minus figures! Everyone was probably out when they went around on the day.
