this was a very entertaining game, rathkeale went 2-0 up in the first half and had most of the possession also, shannonside goalie also made a few v good saves.wind was a huge factor in the game, shannonside came out in the second half and scored two goals and should have pushed on from there but rathkeale regrouped and took the lead again only for shannonside to draw level also but with two mins left a mix up in the shannonside penalty area saw rathkeale score again, from the kick off shannonside hit the crossbar but over all rathkeale deserved to win the game and maybe this result can now kick start there season for premier survival and mayb win the cup.back to league for shannonside and hopefully now they can forget bout that match and go on and win the league, best of luck to both teams
Desmond cup semi final draw.....rathkeale A v abbeyfeale A...... Newcastle west v rathkeale b...any truth in this?? Heard it tonight
That draw is correct
Very interesting evening in the Demesne tonight, Rovers play Rathkeale and across the river Afc play Abbey United both in the league 6.45 on a perfect sunny Friday evening.

Anyone know why Askeaton v Killeaney game was called off friday evening
Called off due to a bereavement in killeaney..killeaney v Newcastle off today due to another bereavement
Any results today lads?
Abbeyfeale beaten by rathkeale in holycross this morning 2-1..abbey went ahead and stayed that way until half time..rathkeale came out in the second half more determined and got two goals to win
Shannonside beat glin rovers 3-2.shannonside were down 1-0 and 2-1 to come back and win 3-2 and go more points ahead..It's in shannonsides hands to lose the league now especially after abbey only getting 1point out of 6 this weekend
Ya I agree..missed the first 30mins but heard it was all abbeyfeale in the 1st half but definately all rathkeale in the second half..abbey keeper pulled off one or two great saves during the match that I saw..same Friday night in the ncw v abbey match, abbey weren't the better side in the second half..sounds like shannonside v glin was a good match but fair play to shannonside on coming back from 2-1 down to win..
The Desmond cup should be interesting..who do ye think will win the Desmond cup?

I think the killeaney v askeaton was a killeaney bereavement and the killeaney v newcastle west was a ncw bereavement
While it may look like whats happening with Killeaney is repeating itself again this season, ie with all the games in hand they have, their two games that were cancelled at the weekend were no way their fault. They had a bereavement for fridays game with askeaton and their match on sunday was off due to a bereavement in newcastle west. Bereavements happen all the time and not one club in the desmond league havent being affected at one time or another down through the years

Last years Killeaney results....
Thay played no league games between january 17th and April 16th that is 3 months without a league fixture...
They didnt manage to play a league game 12 weekends in a row
and yet at the end of the season they managed to play 10 league games in just over a month
at a time of the year where most clubs have nothing to play for....therefore in my opinion gaining an advantage on the other teams
It just seems suspicous to me....
Its suspicious alright it seems like every season kileaney end up having 6 r 7 games in hand coming towards the end of the season. Every team has maybe 1 game off a season for a bereavement but kileaney just take the biscuit. Isnt the person supposed to be directly related to 1 of the players or management for the game to be called off? If a dog got knocked down in kileaney a match is cancelled!!! It just dosent seem right. I know of a game called off last year back there for a bereavement when there just happened to be a 21st for 1 of the players the night before...
Newcastle West V Rathkeale (T. Fitzmaurice)
Abbeyfeale Utd V Glin Rovers (P. Manning)
Killeaney V Broadford Utd (G. O’Connor)
some interesting fixtures 2moro nite...
NCW Vs a resurgent R.Keale should be a cracker!
Abbey need a win to keep pressure on shannonside, however Glin are on a comeback of their own ..beating NCW(they always play well against NCW...),drawing and narrowly losing to shannonside and badly need the points to avoid relegation.
Broaford would like to guarantee themselves safety sooner rather than later against a killeaney side who need the points!
Lookng down through the tables
Div1... congrats on ballingarry on coming straight back up, theyre a good team who deserve to be in the premier!
1 more promotion place between 4 teams, thatl be interesting!
Looks like AbbeyB are going down, with 4 other teams scrapping 4 survival!
Div2
Rockhill nd NCWB look to be promoted to Div1
With ballysteen and 1 of 4 teams being relegated!
I know this was asked already but does any1 know why askeaton gave a walkover in the 1/4 final in the desmond cup??
a combination of a crippling injury list and on top of which their B team were cup tied, though this has tbc
