but would they really struggle to the likes of dromore, pike B, lish or a Shannon hibs B team? If that's the standard of the Clare premier then both Clare and Limerick leagues are lightyears apart!

Melon, have to say you live in cuckoo land. No Clare team would survive in the Limerick premier and only two would survive 1A
have to disagree with melon, lifford and tulla are by no stretch of the imagination ''quality sides''.... they would both struggle to compete in 1A in limerick as would mountshannon and corofin.
that is complete nonsense. avenue and newmarket would stay in the limerick premier very comfortably and would be in the top 5/6 certainly at worst and its hard to imagine ennis town not bein ok in it either probably along with the bridge. ''only two would survive 1A'' ??? ridiculously stupid comment
Lets get on with improving soccer in Clare rather than bothering about what teams would or wouldn't do well in limerick .
Never said anything about clare teams competing in the prem. I just don't think lifford/Tulla would be as bad as dromore/pike b or lish! Been awhile since I seen them so maybe I am wrong. Back to my cuckoos nest.
Let b teams and c teams progress to premier division if they can progress through their own divisions.this would increase the competition
This would increase competition within the clubs and more to play for in the lower divisions.
This would be a bad idea. You would find clubs splintering and strokes being pulled. B and C teams should always remain below the division that the A side play. They should be used to bring younger players through to the A squad.
As for the whole Limerick/Clare debate it is pointless. A bad day for Newmarket shouldn't demish the evident improvement in our league. There are many factors to getting a result in major competitions and they all need to click. Going by the logic of some here the Cork and Kerry leagues are a very poor standard. This is not true. Let's concentrate on progressing the standards of our own league and stop comparing it to a few "investment" clubs in Limerick.
Not comparing league with top Lim teams.I do wonder how many games in both leagues people who post here actually see. Was at the most recent NOF v Avenue game and the standard was mid table 1A. The way forward for the Clare league is to stop organising fixtures around Gaa and move heaven and earth to get both Shannon teams back.
I for one would like to see the Shannon sides back in Clare but wouldn't go moving heaven and earth to make it happen. let them come back and work their way through the leagues like every other club has to. Rineanna are the case in point here.
As for the comparison of the 2 best sides in Clare to mid table 1A on the strength of one game tells me you need to see more games.
I dunno why people have an obsession with the shannon clubs. Olympic have yo-yoed up and down from premier to first. From the Limerick 1A forum things dont seem to be good in shannon. Hibs are fighting for their lives n town are mid table. I rem the good auld days of newtown but these are long gone.
Think this is the fairest way but tbh I can't see either Shannon team switching leagues to be put into the bottom of Clare football, as for the obsession with shannon teams, people talking about top clare sides not handling 1a I think it's relevant that hibs/town are giving a mention
I presume it was the munster junior 4th rd game that you are speaking of. To be fair the standard of that game wasnt the best for 1 reason or another but you shouldnt base your assumption on just 1 game. I think its fair to say that both clubs mentioned above usually produce a better quality of football. I have also gone and seen many games in limerick between some of the better sides and on those days would be left wondering what all the fuss is about but wouldnt state that our teams would beat those teams on the basis of me just seeing that 1 game . Our league is progressing but still lots of impovement needed before clubs are competing regularly at latter stages of the big competitions. This year can be used as a breakthrough year in the sense that Avenue reached a champions cup final, newmarket munster semi final and Clare reaching Oscar traynor final(hopefully we can win it)
Both Shannon clubs should go straight into the premier. And imo anyone who disagrees doesn't really care about improving the quality of the league
Can't think of anything constructive to say about that ridicules comment so won't bother
This lot would beat Town
1 Bridge Celtic
2 Shannon Olympic A
3 Turnpike Rovers
4 Sporting Ennistymon A
5 Newmarket Celtic B
Tis lot would beat Hibs
Bridge Celtic
Shannon Olympic A
Turnpike Rovers
Sporting Ennistymon A
Kildysart Celtic
Kilkishen Celtic
Newmarket Celtic B
Burren Utd
Rhine Rovers
Moher Celtic
I'd add Rineanna and Avenue B to that lot as well but they are in Division 3 and 2 respectively.
Will we ever find out?
The current town team and the hibs team that started the season would both challenge for the premier title. Not gonna comment on your list as it dosnt warrent one
Soccer people in Shannon really do suffer delusions that they are somewhere they are not. There are good players yes but that is all they are, good players, there isn't enough of them to compete with Newmarket, Avenue, Ennis Town and the Bridge let alone Hermitage, Tulla and the rest.
Out of Shannon Town and Hibs there is only one player that I would consider good enough to get in the Newmarket or Avenue teams.
iE=don't panic;1747485]The current town team and the hibs team that started the season would both challenge for the premier title. Not gonna comment on your list as it dosnt warrent one[/QUOTE]
Totally disagree, Shannon town are miles ahead of hibs at the moment!!
Your statement is like saying park rangers team of 88 would walk the clare league..
First! Your inferiority complex is getting the better of you. Go back and read the post, take note of the words "started the season"
I dunno about challenge for the Premier title but the Shannon Town team and the Hibs team that started the season would most definitely hold it's own in the Clare Premier ... Davy Wall, Rob Wall, James Harty just to name a few would all be comfortable playing premier in clare
The players are there alright. It's the attitude that's completely wrong and condoned by hibs in particular. Having played in both leagues and with the current set of players in Shannon for a time I do think for the most part if both teams were organised they would indeed beat any team in Clare. Shannon town in particular would I believe challenge to win the league. Both hibs and Shannon town belong in the clare league and I would love to see it happen. For me people in the clare league are deluded as to the standard of the clare league. The Geraldine's result should really have opened your eyes to this. Newmarket and avenue would struggle to stay in the premier. The advantages they have in the clare league wouldn't exist in limerick.
Could not agree with any of that post. You have no evidence to back up those big claims. I do think shannon town would be a decent side in Clare league but dont know much about hibs.
they beat hibs b in a pre-season friendly ?? and way off the mark to say that team is now hibs A . But I suppose as Shannon town beat Newmarket in Wesley webb back then also they would now be in running to win premier league and they would have beaten geraldines in the munster last weekend ;)
Did the shannon town team not draw in a ftiendly with the oscar traynor team earlier this year.. I know it was only a friendly but im sure the clare team took it serious as lads were fighting for places..wasn't at it and maybe town were lucky to get a draw..
First
Out of interest what 1A games have you watched this year in limk. To say that the shannon teams would be beaten by most 1st division teams in clare is totally laughable..
Plenty of players in shannon would walk onto newmarket team. . Garreth ahern, darren griffen ,sean burke, ken buckley, gary o connell, robbie wall james harty just to name a few. . Go on tell me I'm wrong..
Ridiculous sending off at the olympic match tonight, as usual that ref only seems interested in being the centre of attention instead of just getting on with reffing the match
thread is getting stupid now.. we will never know how clare teams will fare in lim league cos it will never happen as much as shannon teams wont magically amalgamate and appear in the premier in clare.. can we talk about reality instead. any reports from games last night. rock ave n newmk good wins
