UCD transfer fees are a common topic for discussion out in Sasketchewan?

I heard 10k. No idea about add ons.
Well whatever it is, a transfer fee for any player is a good thing and achievement in this league. congrats to UCD.
I'd rather he'd gone abroad for a bigger fee tbh. I think he's a better forward than Sammo. I'm also a bit bemused by those who reckon Sheppard will definitely start ahead of him (and obviously I'm biased here). Killer's scoring record - which is a good bit better than Sheppard's - doesn't tell the full story; his work rate is immense, and he creates chances out of nothing. But obviously I've seen nothing of Sheppard outside of Galway's games against us, while I've seen Killer the last two years.
Struggling to see how anyone will come close to Rovers this year.
I am thrilled but actually slighty surprised and relieved we managed to get him. Am very surprised someone in the UK didnt take a chance on him.
Id defo rate him ahead of Sheppard and Salmon where he was here too, but I can see MON now being able to rest Twigg the odd game and not be so reliant on him and leave him fresher for the big games.
I was always very impressed by Kilduff playing for our schoolboys, u21s, futsal team and then on at UCD. For 6'3 he has great control, he has power and pace and is an excellent finisher. Very few strikers in this league ever tick all those boxes!
Guess you are right. Far-fetched stuff just does not happen in this league!!
I did not mean that match fixing was a likely consequence.
Simply that this type of arrangement leaves clubs open to 'conflict of interest' accusations - remember the comments here last season when UCD agreed to a league match postponement against Rovers?
Champions of the past have brought in players with a good profile but have gone down the road to ruin in a few years. Rovers' seem to have a good approach though so it should work out.
Stats from airtricityleague.com. Sheppard played 2 games less thats all. Just because Sheppard has played, yet failed, in England does not mean he can be rated ahead of Kilduff. To me there is no comparison and I've seen both play on a good few occasions!!Quote:
where did you get those stats? Karl missed a good portion of the season between injuries and international duties.
For rovers though I think Twigg, Kilduff and Sheppard are all similar players, all 3 at best when looking to get in behind defenders. None of them are made to hold up the ball etc.. thats gotta be a worry for rovers fans.
Neither is going to be the main goalscorer at Rovers though - they'll be in the team to support Twigg. From what I've seen of both players, Sheppard has more about him as an all-round player and was the standout any time I saw him for an extremely poor Galway side (as opposed to a good UCD team).
Id personally rate Kilduff ahead of Sheppard, Kilduff seems to have more to his game and an out and out goal scorer.
I think Sheppards performance against Bohs in the first game of last season built him up too big.
Any sign of Faherty signing for someone? Any chance he'd go back to Galway?
I heard a whisper on the wind that he was talking to Cork
Not sure how that stands with the whole Behan thing now.
I'd expect faherty to sign with a dublin based club as he still lives there with the girlfriend.
It scares me sometimes how much people know about LOI players personal lives.
Was already mentioned last week I think but looks like Greg Bolger is making the short move across Dublin to Sporting Fingal. Would liked if had of moved to Dundalk but no matter.
How does trying to get Behan on loan make him "off his head"? He's not getting his game for Hartlepool, his contract is up in the summer, we'd only be paying a small fraction of what he's on at Hartlepool, and he's settled in Cork. Having said that, I don't rate Behan at all.
Paul Keegan to join Rovers.......doncaster that is.
Paul Crowley on his way to St. Pat's.
Post of the year...Quote:

You make him sound not 'off his head' and then in one sentence ruin your whole post! Brilliant
Drogs fans opinions on Crowley last season? Would he be first choice at pats?Quote:

Depends which Paul Crowley decides to turn up. Theres the Paul Crowley who commands the midfield and would go through a brick wall, or theres the lazy uninterested Paul Crowley. From talking to the young players in the squad he seems to be a right ass. Not one to have in your dressing room, even involved in an on pitch bust up with our 18 year old left back against rovers. Wierd signing if true.
Yeah its true, not the best signing IMO
Was decent enough (if never earth-shatteringly good) under Pete at UCD though. Might be a factor.
Is there anyone out there that played under Pete at UCD we haven't signed, that said we need more numbers in so he has experience and should be handy from the bench.
Vinny Faherty rumoured to be heading to the Turkish 2nd division to play for Karsiyaka
(Some great work by a Pats fan in sniffing this out!)
Posted up on our forum that Aaron Greene could be joining us. It was taken off the Bohs forum.
Rumour on Bohs forum that Hawkins and Crowe will be with Bohs next year. One of them has re-signed for Fingal and the other wont play for Bohs again.
apologies if these rumours have already been posted...
