Hi all, haven't been on for a while but for those of you involved in Clare soccer especially in Shannon would know Brian Moore,Brian played all his soccer with Newtown. Brian's son passed away this morning after an illness aged 10, it puts life into perspective especially when you know the person. i will update with arrangements.may he rest in peace.
RIP.God bless the family.
I heard Newmarket let Bunratty beat them this evening. Absolutely disgraceful.
i did'nt think bunratty were 5 goals better than newmarket
looks like the prem league wont be going to a ennis team
bunratty must have been unreal OR did newmarket ROLLOVER and take it:confused:
bunratty were quality but newmarket had no interest. lifford hopefully wont lie down and get 3 points then we mite get two cup finals may 16th that would be quality now , can see it happening thoughhttp://foot.ie/images/icons/icon5.gif
In fairness , I think Newmarket tried but were definately outclassed last night. Newmarket looked like a team whose season had finished after the defeat to Lifford B . Bunratty well worth their win. Played some very attractive football and some of their goals were class , especially Ryan's finish. Chipping Skinny like he did was a super finish .Bunratty midfield was outstanding last night , totally bossed the midfield where Mike O'Malley fought a lone battle for Newmarket. Overall Bunratty much the better side and showed the commitment you would expect from the Champions elect.
The big pitch definately suits Bunratty and they should seriously look at widening their own pitch as it would IMO suit their style of football.
Overall not an enjoyable viewing from a Newmarket aspect but full credit due to Bunratty for the way they went about things. Played well all over the pitch and was reflected in the scoreline . Only Mike O'Malley , Monty Mulqueen and Eoin Hayes merit mention from the Newmarket side as the rest were just not at the races. Must have tired themselves out chewing their Liverpool scarves the night before;).
i posted on this thread a few weeks back that newmarket wouldnt lie down for anybody but i take it back, wat a bunch of sore losers! well beaten in the cup and not a win since......and they were the defending champions......wat a joke! predictions for de cup lifford A and rinneana final
Very fair and accurate assesment there First. Bunratty played well last night but nobody could question Newmarkets commitment. Bunratty got a break or 2 in the 1st half and added a few late goals. Its as good as Bunratty have played all year and the pitch quality and size def had a say in that.
Still a bit to do though. Looks like it could go to the last day and as was proven 2 years ago anything can happen then. Certainly nobody from Bunratty is gettin carried away.
They were 5 goals better than them when they played in the mjc this season(last time sides met before last night) and were again last night. Please dont try and slur Newmarkets reputation by trying to hint that newmarket would roll over for any team especially their neighbours, it would never happen. They are an excellent club with great pride, fight and commitment. They were worthy champions last year. Just because your club bottled the league as usual, dont look for anyone to blame but yourselves. The league is still there to be won and will IMO go to the last day of the season.
Is that your opinion or are you saying that is a fact and if so what do you base that on  Lifford cant win the league Bunratty have the tittle in their own hands and will be well up for it and im sure Lifford will be also but as Bunratty showed v Newmarket when they needed a win they're no bottlers which less can be said of ye on a constant baisis over the years
Rainman that about sums it up .
Mastermind you obviously weren't at the game because if that is your summation of the game then might I suggest you go and follow some other sport because clearly you don't know what you are looking at.
soory there nutz that was just an assumption am looking forward to the game because lifford willl have nothing to play for and so nothing to bottle i believe that lifford are a better footballing side and with no pressure i think they will win just depends how many of them do the all day session for the munster leinster game ha ha ... i also believ that bunratty wil still win the league and will have no problem congradulationg them as they have been the most consistant team. mite even head there for the session after http://foot.ie/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif
first + rainman your posts are acurate and true. an outstanding performance from bunratty and nobody can say otherwise, as rainman said tho newmarket started the game fairly well and were on top in first 15 20mins til scales header (which nof goalie skinny called a 'wide ball') put rats ahead. after that bunratty took control capitalised on nof midfielder mistake and cheeky bagged de 2nd. ryan kelly made it 3 wit a great lob, scales with a brillant strike for 4th and he then completd his hatrick with the 5th. scales was class last nite gave nof centerbacks a tough time in the air too, his best display of season now hes in with shout for top scorer award. huge game v lifford sunday week shud b a cracker!!!
And u'd be welcome im sure ;), still feel we'l have to get that point though so it should be a good game alot to to do before the league is won. Although Avenue wont have it easy in there last 2 games both Moher and Burren fighting relegation so tough games in there own right
who do ye think would make the team of the year?
The Cup semi final this evening is now on in Cassidy Park
Tulla was deemeed unplayable today.
KO is 6pm. Just in case some of ye boys loaded up and headed to Tulla.
Unless we wish to do a bit of surfing !!
Lifford A 1-1 Lifford B (AET) Lifford B won 5-4 on pens.
Lifford B were on the back foot for most of the game from the 2nd half on. Their keeper made some excellent saves and was Man Of The Match easily. Lifford A keeper made a mess of one of the pens in the shootout and after it Lifford A's pen was put over the bar. The ref let the A team off the hook big-time before half-time with game at 1-1, Lifford B forward through on goal, centre-half took him out with a professional foul just inside the box and ref gave a free and yellow card. Maybe the Lifford A players might have some regrets about running onto the pitch and punching the air after Lifford B's shootout win in Newmarket in the last round now
I dont think lifford A players will regret seeing their B team beating newmarket or running on to the field, wat they will regret was the chances they missed to win the game today! was a good game but really it should be the A;s that are there........another season without a trophy for lifford A, maybe someday ha
Nice to see the B team win they seem to have more of a drive then their A team, Hopefully they will acquit themselves well in the final and I might fancy them to cause an upset because either Rovers or Olympic will be clear favoutites nice to see 3 new teams in contention for the cup
how could u say rovers or olimpic are favourets after the lifford b knocked out mount shannon newmarket and lifford a the bs have earnd there right http://foot.ie/forums/images/icons/icon12.gifto be there they done it the hard way and have to fear no one in the final
Avenue beat the burren 1-0 today, so that makes the lifford v bunratty game in cassidys park very interesting, just wonder wat kinda lifford side will turn up as they have no chance of winning the cup or league now so they might just be going through the motions......is it the sunday of the bank holiday weekend it finishes up? congrats to lifford B yesterday with a great win, luck was on their side but u need luck to win a cup!
Rineanna disposed of Olympic 4-2 after penalties (1-1 full time)
Low scoring on penalties. Unusual that both semi-finals finished 1-1 and went to penalties.
Should be a good final between Lifford B and Rineanna. Hope the weather is a bit better than this weekend.
wouldn't like to call it. either of them are well capable of winning it. :ball:

brilliant game to watch in newmarket today, both teams gave it everything + made it a cracking match..nice crowd at it too!! shud be a good final now in afew weeks time. lifford b tryin to bring clare cup back for 1st time in 30 odd years and rineanna goin for watd be 1st big trophy in their history?
wats the story in newmarket, heard at d game today dat the A team will b lookin for a new manager at the end of the year??dunno how true this is, cud azceltic, first or someone in d kno clear tings up a bit?
My predictions for final league postions are
Rats to be champs, Moher and corofin to go down with Rinneanna finishing in the relegation/promotion playoff spot. anyone else???
Brilliant game?? Don't know what game you were watching but imo the game was poor. Maybe the weather didn't help but both teams stuggled to get any momentum going whatsoever. Nerves might've been a factor in that though. Congrats to The rovers. Best of luck to both Lifford and Rineanna in the final.
I wouldn't say it was a "brilliant" game now, it was ok at best but the weather wasn't great and there was a lot at stake. Credit to Rineanna, for me overall they deserved to go through and they're in with a great chance of lifting the Cup now if they can get everyone there like today but that'll be interesting if the Newmarket v Wolfe Tones Senior Championship game is on the same day as the Cup Final as both are down for the same weekend. Surprised Jocks wasn't starting today, he's better than both central midfielders Rovers had out.
First Cup Final for Rineanna since '99, any of that team on the current team?
Well done to the Rovers and Lifford B over the weekend. Rineanna have to be favourites but anything can happen as was proven last year.
4 of the Rineanna '99 panel remain on the '09 panel afaik. None of them started yesterday but 2 came on. The other 2 had the "boots" but not the ones with studs on them:D
Great win for Avenue yesterday. I hear they got the winner fairly late. Makes for an interesting day next Sunday with a battle at the top and the bottom.
congratulations to rineanna and lifford B predictions for next weekend i reckon athere will bve a playoff between avenue and bunratty moher and corofin down bridge in the relegation playoff and a munster and Paquiao double
Congrats to Lifford B and Rovers on cup wins. Massive weekend of football next weekend. Bunratty to be crowned champions, will get a draw at least in my eyes. Wouldn't be surprised if Moher beat Avenue in Liscannor to make things even more interesting at the bottom. Burren to beat Bridge Celtic at home. Could be disappointment for Rovers or Bridge United.

Hard fought game - both teams finding it hard to get anything going although Rineanna opened silightly better - but it was fairly even after that - conditions didn't help either
Unfortunaly injurys were a problem for Rineanna yesterday with 4 of the starting 11 injured - I'd be fairly confident is saying had these players been available it would have been a much different game !;)
Best of luck to both teams in the final and to the Rats on Sunday - it would be a shame to lose out at this satge of the league !:ball:

problem for olympic too with 5 players sidelined and 2 others playing with knocks so yeah without injuries it might have been a much different outcome;)
well done to Rineanna they kept their composure in the shootout. Nothing between the teams, Rineanna started better but Olympic controlled the second part of the first half. Jocks introduction gave Rineanna a lift after half time but again Olympic got back into it and created a few chances. Rineanna keeper made a great save from Ray Quigleys lob and Jay Hamam had a chance for Rineanna. Both defences were good and it was an entertaining midfield battle. Not many goal chances but some nice football played at times.
Both teams deserve credit and good luck to Rineanna in the final.
anyone know thw odds for the cup and the league now aat the latter stages ????
